Just a simple question. Are you pleased with the current state of the WWE? Try not comparing it to the Attitude era, but look at it as its own period marker. How do you feel the current champions, storylines, talent, announcers, merchandise, and etc. at the moment?

I like that the WWE are spending time creating new stars and think we may be headign for another 'Boom' period within the next 4-5 years.

Most of the main event guys are in the mid 20s early 30s, can only be a good thing.

I've always been happy with WWE, same with TNA, and the late WCW etc. For every good thing, there is always a bad. Even during the precious Attitude Era there was a load of crap going on.

Unfortunately you can only say so much about a good thing until everything has been said. Much like the news, the negative stuff is usually the more interesting to talk about.

This year has been great.

This year has been pretty good (The Nexus thing single-handedly saved it).

I think the E is slowly but surely starting to grasp onto the concept that better writing/fresh storylines are the key to keeping our interest. Now, if they would only PUSH some of the younger guys and actually write for the midcarders more, then have them intertwine with main event storylines, then we'd have a winner.

nexus is good but if cena doesn't turn its gonna fall apart id imagine, the skits are all dire with the exception of santino against sheamus recently (not incl. the mess this week) most matches are boring and the womens division is worse than shit. Randy orton seems to have lost momentum. biggest pop of the night on monday was mae young saying sluts and bitches, shows what people want

There is an abundance of great talent on the roster, and most of them are pretty young. John Morrison, The Miz, CM Punk, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan, Kaval, etc...that sounds like a pretty awesome main event scene in the not so distant future.

Another thing I like is that some of the angles seem to be more multi-layered than they have been in the past. Not everything is so straight forward, and it allows them the opportunity to be shocking without being completely out of nowhere. The Miz's involvement in the Cena/Orton/Barrett/Nexus story is a good example of this. Otunga's role there is another good example, even though I think Otunga is horrible.

Meh...

I cant stand the comedy crap, mostly because it is done by people who cant act. I would like to see more actual wrestling, but what are ya gunna do?

I think the Nexus angle started out well, but I dont like the way that they have handled Cena joining them. It has gone down hill since then.

(PS, Cena is not turning heal. If he does, i'll eat my laptop.)

Need some good female workers, and get some of the focus off Cena & Orton and spread the love around, but its ok.

I'm probably too old school to be in this forum (old school is before the attitude era), but tough titties.

It's been very good this year. From Rumble to now. All around a great year.

WWE has been improving ever since late 2007. That's when I really started to see a shift in direction. They stopped trying to cling to the dying attitude era, and the roster began to turn over. Just an overall better direction since then.
Plus, I personally was able to just "drop it" in regards to the product not being the same anymore.

The new crop of talents is exciting, and even though the storylines, matches and events could be better, they are still good enough to keep me watching.

I personally am not very happy with the WWE product but then again, I am not a part of the target audience. The WWE's target audience are kids aged 12 and under. In my opinion, the WWE has done a tremendous job of targetting that niche...while at the same time, avoiding direct competition with the UFC (for the most part).

It's a wise strategic decision.

This is exactly the type of writing that I'm talking about that I wish it was more of. GREAT example. I will say though, obviously, they are getting better with it in terms of using it to semi-push certain guys and at least get them associated with the main event.

At this point, I don't understand how people who are unhappy with the product are still watching and complaining.
It's been about 8 years since the complaints started pouring in. At some point you either need to move on or reconcile the fact that it is what it is.

I can't imagine still watching now if I didn't enjoy it. When I got uninterested in the product in 2001, and then again in 2004, I just stopped watching for a while. I didn't even think about it.
Once coming back in 2006, I quickly came to terms with the changes. If not, I would just stop watching the shit.

Jeritron
11-17-2010, 07:42 PM
Why would things change or go back to the way they were if they keep watching no matter what? These people are slaves to the product, and will watch and spend money on it no matter what, but somehow still expect the company to change.
That makes them idiots.

Jeritron

I hate the way that new Coke flavor tastes, but I'm still going to buy a 24 pack every week. I just hope the company sees the light and goes back to the old style.

I'll be honest, 2007 and 2008 I could not stand. Those two years, especially whatever year was the DX vs Spirit Squad feud, I was hanging on by a thread. But I will never stop watching. 2009 picked up and 2010 has been my fav year since 04 probably

I'm generally happy with the WWE. Its definitely much overall better than 2002-2003 and 2006-2008 on Raw and the bad years of Smackdown.

Of course there are things that could have been done differently or changed such as WWE maintaining a tag team division instead of teasing rebuilding and then getting rid of the teams weeks later.

I didn't like how Nexus angle seemed to revolve around just Cena but it did free up other wrestlers to have their own storylines while also being involved with Nexus.

I kinda liked 2006. There were some great things during that year, like Rated RKO and Edge's first run in the main event.
Plus ECW was exciting when it first started. It didn't start going to shit until the very end of the year and 2007. The second ONS, RVD's title win, Big Show's run, and the Foley/Edge stuff was all great.
And Angle was great that year. To be honest, I didn't even think Cena was that bad that year. 2007 was far worse.

2007 was probably my least favorite year overall since I've watched.

For me, if you wanna know if I'm satisfied with WWE? No.

I can't do anything about that though, since WWE is catered towards kids now. It will never satisfy me, until John Cena turns heel

I am actually very happy with things. I think overall everyone is getting a push that deserves one. I like that Kane has the belt. I also like that Cena is not chasing the belt right now.

I think it is the best it has been in a while.

yea, you're right. I get 06 and 07 confused a lot. Which was the year with DX vs the McMahons? and DX vs Cade and Murdoch?

The stuff you mentioned was actually pretty good, so it was prob jusr '07/'08 that I couldn't stand

DX was right around after WM 22 (2006) It was a full blown storyline going up against the McMahon/Spirit Squad

They reunited a couple times later for a bunch of on-off apperances, thus explaining why you thought of 2007

it would've only worked if it was 1997 HBK

Christian HBK trying to act like a sophomoric teenager is just wrong on so many levels. I know they're trying to appeal to the 10 year olds who missed out on the original DX, but still.

original versions are always best and they can never be duplicated

1997 DX > 2006 DX
1996 nWo > WWE nWo

So you won't be satisfied unless one man becomes a heel? That's kinda shallow, unless you're joking

if storylines are crap, the 2nd thing to keep me watching are the characters. A heel Cena would keep me satisfied. I'm thinking of early 2003 Cena

I'm content with the WWE. I enjoy watching RAW more often than not, as well as the PPV's. You can't live in the past. The past is the past. What happened in the 90's and the early 2000's, happened, we enjoyed it, etc...but you have to move on.

People like myself cannot let go of the past, in this situation the attitude era. Its done and gone and wont return. Fans also confuse the 2002-2005 era of being the attitude era...WRONG, that wasnt that good at all, and they had chairs and TV 14 things on air.. seriously it IS about the writing and giving the right people the pUSH. Currently the Miz just got the WWE title, eh, ok at least it will put to rest Orton vs Cena, and Edge and Taker and so on. HHH returning may be a nice pop but it wont be long until everyone realizes, hes pretty much old news. SO i say, get the MIZ and BARRETT to take the heel spots but also give OTHER new guys the face spots.

Hard to believe Cena has been around for 8 years in the WWE. I respect the ____ out of him for it too. Not many guys can have the torch handed to them and successfully run with it. The predicessors were Rock, and of course Stone Cold. I see it being that way. Dont forget Batista may return, Jericho still will come back and some others. When I look at the SD roster I weep, seriously.. Im all for KANE being champ, that SOB has been with the company so long and only had the title for 24 HRS! Kaval definately impressed me. But Edge..cmon enough already, same goes for Orton, the viper gimmick is alright but I personally dont think its something special.

Shaemus has potential hes still very new, and Rey needs to take a seat. Unfortunately I dont think the SD roster has much potential and I fully agree on the brands being ONE AGAIN. And this whole secret RAW GM, doubt its the GAME.. But thats me.. Reply to this, I implore you!

(also FULLY behind Daniel Bryan for being the lighter division and keeping the US championship division alive, until hes ready for the WWE title down the road.) :D

(sorry i fused together the rosters when I was speaking of SD superstars, im aware of who is on what show) :nono:
