Does a MITB winner (break kayfabe) actually get to choose when he gets his shot? Or is it just like everything else in the business, that creative decides when the best time to do it

Like in real life, break kayfabe, did Jack Swagger tell Vince that he wants to cash in (SD! after WM26)

I'm thinking, say if I won the MITB. But there's always the risk of getting injured before I get to cash it in. If I'm injured for a year, it can fuck up everything. So to avoid this, might as well cash it in ASAP just to get it on my resume (especially if it's my first title win). Remember Kennedy got injured, so he had to give it to Edge. Something like that

I'm thinking no. I'm thinking that creative waits for the right time for you to cash in. That it's decided by Vince and Vince only. You have no say.

Jack Swagger received a huge bollocking from Vince after he cashed in because he wasn't supposed to until a few months later.

It's why Edge was made to beat Mr. Kennedy, there were rumblings that he was going to cash in that very Raw so they had to get the case off him.

Lukcily, they can book kayfabe matches when they like, but the MITB is up to the wrestler when to cash in, although it's usually discussed and agreed beforehand. Surprised they kept Kanes push going after he cashed in at the same PPV instead of building it up.
