Well, it's finally here. After such a massive wait, I am currently patching it. And it's taking fucken forever. Then I guess it has to get installed on the hard drive. Might be here all night.

Anyone else getting it?

40 minute install after patching yeah.

I'll wait until it goes down in price. Need to drive that Red Bull car.

But I posted this in the news thread, it's the line I've agreed with the most of any review of GT ever:

Here's the deal: If you're one of those car nuts I mentioned earlier, here's your game. Have fun, we'll see you in a year when you finally leave the house. If you're not in that group -- you like, even love racing games, but care less about tuning and more about the thrill of the race -- GT5 is like walking in on a group of physicists discussing string theory and asking who wants to go toss around a ball for a bit. You're looking to have fun; they're only interested in studying the math behind how it bounces.

Maybe longer than 40 mins. Ouch.

I got the middle edition, the one with the book, which is a fucking sweet book by the way.

Just bought a 97 Civic Type R as my first car, about to win the final race of the sunday cup, then gonna give it some mods. Then should probably sleep.

Enjoying it so far. Probably need to get a Wheel though.

Sucks I can't touch it for another 2 weeks, but I will be playing the shit out of it for at least 12 hours straight.

GT4 was one of my favorite ps2 games and I was expecting to finally pick up a ps3 for GT5, however, I'm not so sure anymore.

Having seen screenshots of the 'standard' cars, I am in disbelief. For those of you with GT5, do they really look that bad compared to the "premium" cars (ie: visible low-polygon edges, low-res textured door/panel lines?)

Have yet to read a review that has sold me on purchasing a ps3 just for GT5.

Have tried time and again to get into this series, but I just don't have the patience for it. Prefer the instant gratification and over-the-top action of arcade racers.

Well, BC and myself are car nerds; I think that has a lot to do with it.

I was never into the GT series until GT4, around the time when I started messing around with cars in real life.

I like the grind of finding the perfect racing line in a track and the trial-and-error that's involved.

Forza has a much better balance of instant gratification to car porn, but GT is GT, it's total car porn.

I picked it up yesterday too. I suck majorly at the game, and can't stay on the track. But fuck me the game is beautiful to look at.

Played this with a Logitech GT wheel. Need one of those in my life.
