View Full Version : If WWE Goes With The "Juan Cena" Angle...

Would that make everything they did/do with Barrett and Cena a joke to you or would it be something you'd find entertaining?

Everything Cena/Barrett/Nexus has done so far has been one long boring joke, so why would this be any different???

The Naitch

I'd be entertained by it

El Tigre

Considering the entire build up that led up to it, it really would, but since when did WWE care about such a thing.

I personally think the Juan Cena angle is stupid, and hope that they instead go with him just buying tickets and doing run-ins until Barett gets fed up and demands he be rehired so he can face him.

This scenario would also make a mockery of the entire angle, but at least it'd be more believable.

It would kind of make Cena look like an asshole. He spent all that time on Raw talking about how he was looking forward to spending more time with his family.

They're not gonna follow through with the Juan Cena angle on TV.

The Naitch
11-26-2010, 06:41 PM
so it's just a house show thing? :n:

Triple Naitch
11-26-2010, 06:46 PM
Yeah. Cena is the biggest draw in house shows. Have you ever gone to a Raw house show? Half of the arena empties out after Cena's match. WWE would be losing a lot of money by having Cena skip the house shows. Especially during the holiday season where his merch is the top seller.

How are they gonna make him look Mexican?

But doesn't Cena already look Mexican by being unemployed?

I don't think this is going to be any good for his popularity, except for kids and the ladies, like always. But in terms of overall popularity, he's probably going to keep getting booed.

The Juan Cena stuff is a good joke for house shows and such, but leave it off RAW. As El Tigre said, the logical way to continue this angle is for John Cena to be in attendance as a fan. He attacks Wade Barrett & Nexus, and security escorts him out.

Michael Cole announces that he has received an email from the General Manager, and that next week the GM will reveal themselves! That creates a buzz for the following week, and that marks the return of Triple H, who gives Cena another match against Wade Barrett at TLC -- if Cena wins, he gets his job back. Triple H also wants Sheamus, and resigns as General Manager to get his hands on the man who put him out.

Randy Orton is pissed off at Nexus, so he and R-Truth form a weird union to take them out. They challenge Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater for the WWE Tag Team Championship at TLC. The main event sees The Miz defend the WWE Championship against King of the Ring winner -- either John Morrison or Daniel Bryan.

That's the RAW side almost entirely booked right there.

So just add some Mexican stereotypes and catchphrases to his character?

I have a strong feeling that this is a work.

I believe that face wrestlers will call Juan Cena out and inform WWE Universe of him sneaking around house shows, off Live TV.

They will call him selfish, egotistical, and pathetic for hiding his identity and giving up on his pledge.

Ultimately, I think this is to turn Cena heel, to give him no credibility whatsoever and for people like us to really hate him more than before.

Sure, if they wanted to turn Cena heel, they could have just had him screw Orton and make Barrett champion. However, Barrett is already over currently and making The Miz champion gives him legitimacy.

will he get his own custom mask, or will it just be a Rey Mysterio mask?

Kind of want to see it on TV because 1. I think lots of people on the internet will cry about it and 2. It could potentially be entertaining. It could suck to high heaven also but it might be fun.

maybe they can have alberto del rio play juan cena mocking him etc etc...till one day cena gets sick of it and attacks him, del rio uses his wealth and influence to get cena back to wwe.

would be nice of cena to make del rio look good ...or maybe they go with the status qup and cena beats the shit outta him and boom cena is back in wwe.

And maybe some more horn in his theme song.

Well, that could double the sales of masks.

Unless there's a t-shirt for Hustle, Lawnmowing, Siesta. Might have to pick that up.

It will be good for house shows, but I like the idea of him buying a ticket for Raw each week. It makes the storyline seem more real that way.

Next Big Thing
11-27-2010, 08:07 AM
Even if it's just for a house show it's strange that they would go with the Cena has a Mexican cousin who wrestles in a mask gimmick.

If you're a fan of John Cena and he's the reason why you'd pay to go to a house show... wouldn't you pass on seeing him in a mask as Juan Cena? Maybe it's more to give the kids a laugh.

If anything, I'd rather see him go back to his gimmick as "The Prototype" if it's going to just be house shows anyways. People already say he moves like a robot and it's still John Cena without the mask.

BTW, can someone please inform me of this Hogan/America angle..never kept up with it

itsmeJD

from wiki:

The persona was supposed to be Hulk Hogan in disguise, wearing a mask. He used Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme music and used all of Hogan's signature gestures, moves, and phrases. He was the subject of a storyline that took place after Hulk Hogan was forced by Vince McMahon to sit out the rest of his contract.[1] After Hogan won at WrestleMania XIX, McMahon was (kayfabe) frustrated with him and wanted Hulkamania to die.[1] A WWE pre-debut push took place with mysterious Mr. America promos airing for weeks during SmackDown!.[1] There was also on-screen discussion on SmackDown! between then General Manager Stephanie McMahon and other players concerning her hiring Mr. America "sight unseen."[1] On May 1, Mr. America debuted on SmackDown! on a Piper's Pit segment. McMahon appeared and claimed that Mr. America was Hulk Hogan in disguise; Mr. America shot back by saying, "I am not Hulk Hogan, brother!" (lampooning Hogan's use of "brother" in his promos).[1] The feud continued through the month of May, with a singles match between Mr. America and Hogan's old rival Roddy Piper at Judgment Day.[108] McMahon tried desperately to prove that Mr. America was indeed Hulk Hogan but failed at all attempts. Mr. America even passed a lie detector test.[45]

Mr. America's last WWE appearance was on the June 26 edition of SmackDown! when The Big Show and The World's Greatest Tag Team (Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas) defeated the team of Brock Lesnar, Kurt Angle, and Mr. America in a six-man tag team match when Show pinned Mr. America.[109] After the show went off the air, Mr. America unmasked to show the fans that he was indeed Hulk Hogan, putting his finger to his lips telling the fans to keep quiet about his secret. The next week, Hogan quit WWE due to frustration with the creative team.[110] On the July 3 edition of SmackDown!, Vince McMahon showed the footage of Mr. America unmasking as Hogan and "fired" him, although Hogan had already quit in real life.[110] The Mr. America gimmick came under fire briefly from Marvel Comics, who anointed it a rip-off of Captain America, citing costume similarity; the single star on the mask was also a trademark on Captain America's chest piece. This was also adding fuel to the fire over the rights to use the Hulk Hogan name because of Marvel's ownership of the Incredible Hulk character. Because of these problems, WWE was forced to edit out all references to the "Hulk Hogan" name, including pictures which featured Hogan wearing memorabilia that said "Hulk" (a majority of them) and started to refer to Hogan under the "Hollywood Hogan" name he used in WCW. It was later revealed that Hogan was unhappy with the payoffs for his matches after his comeback under the Mr. America gimmick.[110] Vince decided to terminate Hogan's contract, and Hogan left WWE in 2003.[

To be fair, around the time of the team of the Machines there were six man matches featuring, among others, Piper Machine and Hulk Machine. They were both in their normal gear, except for masks.

The only atrocity was the Giant Machine, who they tried to pretend was NOT Andre, and... yeah...
