The following post below contains spoilers for Raw.

Let's say you are Vince McMahon and during last nights raw Jerry Lawler goes against the script and while Miz is down in the table he quickly grabs the title becoming WWE Champ. What do you do? Fire him? Tell the fans "that never happened"? let him defend it until Wrestlemania? :shifty: WHAT DO YOU DO!?

Also if you were Jerry Lawler would you be a complete dick go rogue and grab the title?

I would have Miz win it back the next week in a convincing beat down angle leaving Jerry Lawler laid up forever..aka FIRED.

Stripped of the title, fired, sued for everything he has left after his many divorces. Miz championship reign stays intact.

I'd book The Miz to regain the title and bury Lawler by losing in a 30 second match vs Riley and have Michael Cole to rip on him constantly. firing him is too harsh IMO.

I know this is a completely hypothetical scenario, but I'm having a very hard time wrapping my head around Lawler's motive here. If you could explain WHY he did such a thing, I could provide a more accurate reflection of what I may do to remedy the situation.

He was never WWE Champ, he's old, and wants to retire sometime soon. Plus earlier before the show Miz called him ugly.

I guess fire him after a squash match the following week where The Miz actually kills him. It would be a first in WWE history, and it would really drive the point home to the kiddies to not try this at home.

I'd probably take him out of the Hall of Fame somehow, too.

Have him killed and make it look like a double-murder-suicide.

They kept pushing that Lawler never had a WWE title shot but I had a hard time feeling bad for the guy after they announced that he had won over 140 championships in his career.

Yeah, but most of them were in Memphis, so they don't count.

It doesn't count if you're the booker.

If I'm Vince McMahon and Lawler did that to me, I play it off on TV like it was supposed to happen. And at least on TV, Vince can play it off that "anything can happen in WWE." I don't bury him on TV verbally and have him lose the title in 30 seconds. Next week I'd have other legends come in and have a celebration next week, only to be beaten down by Miz and Riley leaving Lawler injured, "breaking his jaw" and thus stripping the title from him, and suspending him as an announcer.

I'd carry on with King as champ going into Mania.

But to answer the question.

The next week on Raw, I'd come out and tell the crowd that the E-Mail from the GM was not actually from the GM but someone else who used the GM's computer while the GM was not around his/her computer.

Thus making the TLC Match last week, void, as the GM never said it could go ahead, which makes The Miz, still WWE Champion. That would also give The Miz more heat.

As for Lawler, I'd suspend him until after WrestleMania.

If you (Cool King) "write" Lawler off from injury (Miz and Riley taking him out, for instance) then that sounds great.

I would just get around it by saying that Lawler was not contracted to perform as he's an announcer or come up with some sort of loophole like that. Then I'd present a newly designed (or maybe one of the older WWE titles) to The Miz. Lawler would for sure get fired if this really happened.

I'm no legal expert, but can Lawler be sued for something like this?

I doubt it. That'd be like suing an actor for saying the wrong lines.

Al Wilson and Muhammad Hassan would disagree with this.

Hold a fatal 4-way match the next week between Lawler, Miz, Vader and Bob Holly, and give Vader & Holly free range to work rough as shit with Lawler, then have Miz make the pin.

If I was Vince.

If I was me, i'd throw a big ass party for the King, cause hes still my boy!!!

How does announcing the match *actually* needs 2 out of 3 wins not make sense? It doesn't have to have to be strapped up again, the next two "wins" could be by pin or submission.

Unless you mean story wise.

Slightly different. It'd be more like an actor refusing to follow the script and using his own random ass script in which he is the lead and has sex with the director's wife.

The Miz's career would be over if this happened, btw. You don't come back from losing to a ring announcer. It's bad enough that Michael Cole saved the match for him.

WWE presents: Raw Remix! They replay that night's Raw and change the ending to have Miz win the belt.

Also, Morrison beats Sheamus...Hey, I'm just saying.

Triple H did fine after losing to Jim Ross, and he didn't hold 140 championships.

I don't see how this ruins The Miz. It was a one-off deal to be special for Jerry Lawler and they put on a good fucking match. People constantly bitch about "superman" title reigns, especially from a certain dominant heel in 2002-2003, but when they have a heel champion show weakness and such people bitch about him getting buried.

Now, if he defends the belt against Yoshi Tatsu and almost jobs next week then you might have a point.

Jericho was right, wrestling fans are hypocrites.

I'd understand it if it were a normal match but Miz was left lying cos he went through a TABLE. Anybody could have pushed him through a table and capitalized on it, Lawler wasn't a bad option all in all.

They did put on a good match. The problem is that they could have put any number of guys in there and had the same good match and it would have been ten times better because it wouldn't have been Lawler. The WWE should be more concerned about putting over their champion than doing something special for a guy who shows up and phones in his announcing. I am not expecting Miz to be a dominant champion at all. He should win by hook or crook. But not to Lawler and not thanks to Michael Cole.

Even still, I don't think he'd be in breach of contract unless the contract specifically states that he must 'follow the script at all times'. I doubt WWE contracts even say anything about that, but I'd like to know what they DO say.
