I put my vertical but that was just for space. I find no difference between the two except for where you want to place it.

It depends where I have room for it. If I take it to some ones house and they have little room by there tv then it stands vertical if there is no room and it can go on top or somewhere else its usually horizontal. Its horizontal at my house.
