What the hell do you do with the kid? He's only 22 or 23, but if you look at the heavyweight division, who is there for him to fight that could establish him as a legit contender? He's 6'11 and if he gets up to 290 and starts cutting down like he says he wants to, he could be physically imposing.
But... He's still young and has a lot he can improve on. It would only be fair to let him go the Jon Jones, Phil Davis route where he gradually steps up in competition, but the problem is the heavyweight division is kind of top heavy at the moment and he tends to take more of a beating than those guys when he fights.
Brendan Schaub is really the only fight I see for him that would be fair in terms of skill set and experience. Pat Barry is another one. Maybe Cheick Kongo. All the names outside of that are either former champions or people who have already fucked him up once and I don't think he's improved enough yet to put up a solid fight against those guys.
Do you guys see Struve as a potential star in the heavyweight division, or will he fizzle out and be a mediocre talent?

I think he emerged at the wrong time and he is never going to get the chances he needs to develop

Yeah, he's going to end up being fed to the wolves eventually, he's still a few years away from being a contender.

Kinda dislike him for doing a bitch ass move earlier in the year. He was losing a fight and in the beginning of the 2nd or 3rd round the guy winning goes to touch gloves, Stefan goes like he's gonna do it only to go for the sucker punch and KOs him.

YES! That was Christian Mordecai or some name like that. I hate fighters that touch glove and then stay on the inside or start swinging. I say shake the guys hand at weigh in and shake his hand after the fight. Touching gloves before every round is unnecessary.

Like to see him against Roy Nelson if he gets his contract sorted out.

Fuckin hate this guy so bad.....
Hopefully he gets thrown in with a top guy and gets blasted out real bad so UFC cut him.

I think he's intriguing. He looks like a tool and probably is one, but the kid can take an ass whooping and at 6'11 makes for an interesting matchup, especially as he improves.

Stefan Urquelle!
Cheick Kongo would be a good match for him like you've already mentioned. Right now he just should accept any opportunity that he can get though.

Wow, I completely missed this? When was this? And is it online anywhere?

It was against Christian Morecraft and it wasn't really a sucker punch KO, but it was still a bitch move. Struve got his ass kicked the first round and then Morecraft came out and touched gloves with him the second. After they touched gloves Stuve immediately threw a kick, stayed inside and started swinging. Eventually Morecraft went down and got his arm trapped in a position where he couldn't defend Struve's punches and Struve got a win from strikes.

Apparently Struve is fighting Brendan Schaub next.

Could be an interesting fight. I'm a big fan of Schaub, and he has the experience I think.

I hate to say it but with Carwin out, Nelson having contract issues and Dana still salty about Mir's performance against Cro Cop... this fight might be a number one contenders match. I don't see the UFC putting anyone else against the winner of Dos Santos and Velasquez at this point.
