View Full Version : Yeah, so why is Alex Riley still bringing the briefcase whenever he comes out?

Will it become his signature weapon now (but he hasn't used it as a weapon or anything), a la Triple H avec sledgehammer?
Plus it's also a totally different suitcase than the red one Miz used
List down some other continuity problems you seem to notice on RAW/SD!

I haven't noticed, but does Miz come out wearing the Title, or does Riley carry it in the briefcase?

Riley carries it in the briefcase, which is why he still carries around the briefcase.

so when Miz and Riley come out for a match, the belt is in the briefcase? Didn't think about that. Not used to that. Throughout history everyone comes out wearing the belt or on their shoukkders
gonna go youtube some shit

No, it's what he carries the belt in whenever the Miz isn't holding it. They had one promo where The Miz had Alex Riley open up the case and take the title out of it. Alex brought the real red money in the bank briefcase down during the Miz's championship celebration but they replaced it with a grey Halliburton.
It's basically just a prop for Alex Riley to carry similiar to the Money in the Bank case. Probably because they liked how the Miz used the briefcase as a weapon more than any other holder of the briefcase in history. At the end the Briefcase was so beaten up it could probably barley hold a contract in it if a real contract was actually in it.

...All I know is that starting this Monday, as a result of this thread, I'm going to be paying much more attention to how Alex Riley holds the briefcase, what he does with the briefcase, what comes out of the briefcase...

Im not sure why anyone would want to carry their title belt around in a briefcase... money, documents, extra pair of pants maybe, but the WWE Championship? I would be wearing that baby everywhere

it is probly his punishment for that drunk driving thing, make him cary that case around and job for awhile.
This is bordering on Xero-level of detail.
Why isn't Alex Riley officially a part of the Raw roster?

The week after he won the title made absolutely no sense as he was wearing the title and Alex Riley had the red MITB case. I don't like that he carries the red case since it was cashed in and I don't understand how people think Miz and A-Ri have talent.

The silver one he had last week, was indeed carrying the title around. However, that wasn't established on TV. On the PPV, in a backstage interview the case was opened and the title was in it.

Gives him something extra to do. A little extra to being Miz's bitch.

Well the briefcase is supposed to contain a contract for one match for any title and so it would make sense that the briefcase can be kept and not the contract.

Yeah true but they never actually open the case to hand them the contract it's just supposed to be in the case. It's as if he cashed it in but is allowed to do it again when he loses haha.
A month or two before Miz cashed in, he (or maybe A-Ri, I don't quite remember) was thrown over the top rope while holding the briefcase. When he landed, the briefcase broke open, revealing it was empty.

It's nothing more than to plug the PPV and the match itself and to act as a weapon since clearly Miz can't win on his own.

That may be true... BUT you have to admit that it is fun to watch him win and to think about how he is going to win next week.... he is the reason that I am into wrestling as much as I am atm... he is just a great performer (NO HE IS NOT THE ONLY REASON)

Exactly. I think this would be a great way for a heel to lose a money in the bank contract and get major heel heat.
There is no contract in the briefcase, so he gets another shot! Brilliant man, just brilliant.

The case itself is the contract.

Can a briefcase legally be a contract? This is so fucking stupid.
The Money in the Bank winner wins a briefcase containing a contract stipulating that they can cash in that title shot once against whichever champion it specifies whenever there is a WWE official present. The Miz probably kept his briefcase as a momento of his victory, and Alex Riley carrying around the briefcase is just like Jimmy Hart with his megaphone. Sure, Riley might carry around the title in it sometimes, or some papers, or whatever -- but I'm sure the intent is there to use it as a tool.
Stop reading so much into it. The briefcase is a) A symbol of how The Miz became WWE Champion, and b) a mechanism and convenience the WWE can use to book The Miz to shady victories. It's no longer got a valid contract inside it.

I'm more confused as to why the fuck Alex Riley isn't considered an official member of the Raw roster. I suppose he's technically employed by The Miz and not Raw, but that same logic could be used for Ricardo Rodriguez being employed by Alberto Del Rio, yet he's listed as a SmackDown guy.
Not that it matters or anything...just curious. Not being a Raw roster member doesn't keep the GM from booking Riley freely every week.
I actually love that they gave him another case. It didn't made sense carrying around the MITB case anymore, but Miz used the case itself to perfection. As long as it doesn't become overused (which doesn't seem to be the case [no pun intended]) it's perfect.
Although the battle-worn case was awesome.

When CM Punk had cashed his MITB shot against Edge on Raw, the announce team (Coach I think) had mentioned that the briefcase was the contract itself since opening the case, and signing both participants names onto the contract was not feasible on tv. A lame reason, but as I see it the case itself is the contract in hand.
But yes, listen to the guy and stop analyzing such stuff so much.

I guess the thing that bothers me is that Edge, RVD, CM Punk, Jack Swagger and Kane didn't carry around the case after they had cashed it in.

Is that really such a big deal, though. I guess it's your opinion, but Kane isn't exactly the sentimental kind. CM Punk and Jack Swagger were all about the World Title at the time, as was even RVD. When The Miz won Money in the Bank, I think he might have shown more raw emotion than anyone else who has ever won. Plus, The Miz loves reminding us of how he has proven us wrong over the years. Keeping the briefcase to remind us (and to use as a weapon) is completely The Miz's thing.
I for one the other night at TLC found it hilarious that The Miz pulled the biggest Eddie move in history to date. not getting away with it sold me even more.
