Reigning FCW Florida Heavyweight Champion Mason Ryan, who worked SmackDown! live events this week, is expected to be called up to the main WWE roster and receive a large push from the onset. Organization officials reportedly want to utilize the Welsh grappler similarly to former WWE Champion Batista. He notably bears a striking resemblance to “The Animal

the striking resemblance goes up 95% when he has that goatee

That's the only reason I see any resemblance to Batista. The little goatee thingy, and he has his hair like Batista a couple years back. And of course, the facial "Aaaargh!"

More than "baring a resemblance to Batista", it looks to me that WWE WANTS him to look like Dave.

It's not the first time even this year where they're trying to bring in a replacement.

Someone needs to hide the unlimited title matches code away from this guy or else he literally would become Batista version 2.0

This is Deacon Batista: http://www.accelerator3359.com/Wrestling/pictures/bautista.jpg

This is DAVE Batista: http://www.otranto.biz/news/2005/september/Dave-Batista.jpg

Then they dropped the "Dave" and just started referring to him as "Batista"...

They should totally find someone that looks like HHH, Randy Orton and Flair and do Faux-veloution

I think they should wait and see if Mason Ryan gets any better in the ring first.

This is actually quite spooky I was reading a copy of FSM (Fighting Spirit Magazine) the other day and it had an article about how the WWE over the last few years have created some very similar characters to previous money drawing stars. I cannot remember who the other comparisons were now but I'll go find the magazine in a bit and put them up.

He dosen't need to get any better in the ring to play a very successful GOLDBERG type gimmick, He can get away with just having 4 moves and his look, He truely is a Behemoth.

I'm didn't say I can take him. I just said he doesn't look mean in the first pic.

Two different things...two separate things:

#1 is here...................................................................#2 is here

Let's be as clear as possible.

They should call him Batista, and have him come out to Batista's music as if nothing is wrong a la fake Razor and Diesel. Imagine the heat he'd generate.

The arrival of Mason Ryan from FCW seems to me like the perfect chance for them to do a 'British Invasion' kind of angle... They have this dude from Wales, Drew McIntyre from Scotland, Wade Barrett from England and Sheamus from Ireland (I know Ireland isn't part of Britain, but still). They could also have Finlay, from Northern Ireland, and William Regal from England as manager/advisor types.

Have them come out saying American wrestling is shit and hark back to the good old days in the UK when wrestling was promoted like boxing is. They could demand to hold matches under old British rules, with three minute rounds, two out of three falls (unless a DQ, count out or knock out - all of which end the match immediately), tope rope moves illegal, titles CAN change hands on count out and DQ and all that.

Could be a great way of garnering some heel heat like Regal did in 2001 vs Jericho, I forget the PPV, I think it was a Backlash, in that 'Duchess of Queensberry' (sic, should be Queensbury) rules match. Each time the face gets the upper hand, or scores a fall, or whatever, there'd be something in the old British rules that would mean it wouldn't count or that would get them DQ'd or something like that.

Thoughts on the angle? Who could credibly lead the faction, if it happened? I'd say Sheamus or Barrett, but what do you think?

Rammsteinmad
01-01-2011, 10:30 AM
Sounds good, but Sheamus and Barrett have both come a long way over the last year, and I can't help but think something like this would just slow them down.

Anti-american stables have been done to death and rarely get anybody over in the long run. Sheamus would be taking a huge step down going into a UK (& Ireland) stable, Wade has already just led a huge invasion angle. Regal has also done this gimmick before and I find it to be the least enjoyable version of his character (including Real Man's Man :shifty:).

Let these guys build their own interesting characters instead of giving them the shitty "Foreign guy hates America" gimmick.

I havent watched FCW in a couple of months but last time I saw Mason he was HORRIBLE. He made Rob Terry look like a William Regal. That would be a major step down for Barrett and Shamoose to team with him

If he doesn't suck in the ring and on the mic then he's already a vast improvement over Batista.

All Batista was good at was having big loud pyro and letting Triple H carry him on his massively entertaining shoulders [/James Steele].

This guy dont look anything like Batista and compared to Batista he is a sack of crap. I know every1 likes to hate on Batista cause of his personality and how cocky he is that he can get any chick he wants in bed but the fact is he was extremely talented and didnt reach his full potential because he was too old when he started wrestling. If Batista started younger, he would still be around and would probably be bigger than Randy Orton.
