Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort
Belfort appears to be the most dangerous opponent Silva has faced in the UFC thus far, and i know a lot of people are picking him to be the one. i'm guessing that, no, it isnt going to happen.
Forrest Griffin vs. Rich Franklin
sort of a tough fight to call. both are well rounded. Forrest is very durable, but i see this as a fight Franklin can finish, and Forrest, most likely, can't.
Jake Ellenberger vs. Carlos Eduardo Rocha
i dont know if i've ever seen Rocha, but he looks like a solid BJJ fighter. Ellenberger is gonna be bigger, and has more experience, and has beaten some tough opponents. Rocha seems solid though, for sure.
Bones vs. Darth
while putting together an impressive streak of wins, i think that Bader has been exposed in his recent fights as being very beatable - especially with his stand up. meanwhile Jones has consistently dominated his opponents.
Miguel Torres vs. Antonio Banuelos
i'll take Torres.

Bader is tough tho. If Bader's wrestling is better than Hammil's, (which I don't know whether or not it is) then Jones hasn't fought a guy with that level of wrestling.
From what I've seen Bader tends to fade as the fight goes on as well, but apart from the Bonnar fight where Bones took it on short notice and gassed a little bit, we haven't seen Bones go very far.
There's a lot of unknown variables going in. Jones SHOULD dismantle the guy, but it's really hard to say what would happen if Bader puts Jones on his back and starts grinding him.

To be fair almost everyone gasses against Bonnar. Bonnar may not be the best fighter but he turns ever fight into a dog fight and he's durable as all hell. He gets wobbly and people think they'll be able to drop him so they go all out to finish him and then when they're done Bonnar's face is rare hamburger meat but he's still there.
My boy (bit of a stretch, he trains one of my best friends, I've met him like once) Paul Taylor is fighting also against Gabe Ruediger and since he's a bit of a dick, you should all support him

ya know, it's gotten to the point that i dont see a whole lot of victories for Bonnar, especially at the upper echelon of 205, but i think a fight against Bader could potentially be a good rehab fight for Bonnar. i say this because i think that in last couple of fights Bader has been exposed as 1). not having good stand up, and 2). fading in the second half of his fights. could be something Bonnar could capitalize on - if he can stop a takedown.

THere's almost like a 'legends' LHW division now, with Couture, Ortiz, Lil Nog, Franklin, Bonnar, and Griffin.
You can add the folks that are on the slide like Machida (who is a loss away from being future endeavored), Caine, etc....and you've got a division outside of the championship level guys. So I think Bonnar has a ton of fights left, outside of Griffin.
On your point though, mr wolf....Even if the get's taken down, the guy is a vicious bjj black belt.

Bonner is one of my favorite fighters but the answer to this is that Bonnar wouldn't be able to stop the takedown. I love Bonnar but he's one of those guys that look to put on a show before he looks to win. All guys that favor excitment over victory usually get exactly what they want. And that is excitment but no victory.
Though I hope I'm wrong because I love the American Psycho.

Belfort said that Anderson Silva has been acting silly the weeks leading up to the fight because Anderson is scared. He says that Anderson puts on a mask to hide how he really feels. So I guess Anderson decided to actually put on a mask.

True but that was also supposedly with bad ribs. GSP has some of the best MMA wrestling, let's see how much of an issue that poses for him because frankly, I don't think there is anyone at LHW that relies on their wrestling enough to pose the same problem Sonnen did. I mean, Henderson has the wrestling, but didn't use it. I think that's what most LHW fighters will end up doing..

Griffin doesn't have the chin or power for HW. You don't see alot of things apparently. Like when Chael Sonnen molested Silva before being subbed like a retard. Wrestling isn't all about size and and strength, it's about skill and and agility, something GSP has both of. Look I don't see why it's hard to understand, Silva isn't knocking anyone out from his back, and GSP is going to put him there. IF Chael Sonnen could do it for 4 round, why the fuck can't the best wrestler in MMA? I know you like Silva, but you don't even want to acknowledge the possiblity of this happening. Could Silva KO GSP? Of Course, but is GSP wrestling so dominant that he can but Silva on his back for 5 rounds and keep him there? Well if you don't believe so maybe you should watch some more UFC.

Your problem is your using strikers who played into Silva hands as examples. If Griffin was smart he would have used his size and tried to take Silva down. You're completley over looking his performance against Sonnen, which is probably a more accurate example to use when predicting results against GSP.

I do give the edge GSP because of his wrestling, but Silva is completley capable of catching him coming in and knocking him out. Kris P you're a fucking toss some times. My point is, it's not all about being big, strong and heavy. A lot of the time, wrestling is about athleticism and technique. See: Edgar vs. Penn II, Cain vs. Brock, GSP vs. Jon Fitch and Thiago Alves.
The reason people get mad at you is because while you state your opinions you do so in a brazen manner, as though nothing else could be possible. IC and myself acknowledge that Silva could VERY easily knock out GSP, but we also see things from the other side. Whereas you just "cherry pick" or blindly suck Silva's dick. You can't properly analyze a sport when you're too busy hanging off of someone's nuts. This is why you're annoying to deal with.
Forrest Griffin and Vitor Belfort are not fucking wrestlers, who have proven to be Silva's weakness. They are big muscle bound guys, who tried throwing strikes with one of the fastest pin point strikers in mma history.
Furthermore, Dan Henderson (aka your other lover) who took down Silva for that one round and grinded him pretty good, got fucking schooled by Jake Shields, who was fighting out of his god damned weight class. What happens if GSP completely out grapples or mandhandles Shields, then what will you have to say?

I really wish people would stop trying to say that the reason Anderson took that beating from Chael was so that he could sub him at the last second.
I also wish people would stop forgetting the fact that Silva did have a rib injury in that fight and Sonnen was probably stronger than he's been in any other fight due to his higher levels of testosterone.
Even if GSP is able to get Silva to the ground no one wants to watch a fight like that. GSP doesn't have ground and pound or slick subs and it would probably be more grinding than anything else if it went that way. If anything, GSP's take downs would turn it into a fight where Anderson doesn't engage and merely dances around and mocks GSP for four rounds instead of chasing him or opening himself up to be taken down.

it doesnt even have to do with me being a fighter. It has to do with me paying attention to what goes on like reading articles and watching the fights.
basically the edgar penn fight was just compared to a silva/gsp fight. Thats ridiculous... you have two fights with fighters with complete different styles going at it.
Now against a strong wrestler that can attack the legs, silva can get in trouble. But to say that GSP will put him on his back like sonnen did shows me that you dont even actually think about whats going on.
Silva gets in trouble against guys that will fight through the punches and AGGRESSIVELY go for the takedown. IE sonnen, and lutter.
Ive said it before (and i cant find the thread to just quote it) But GSP isnt necessarily the best wrestler in mma, hes probably just the greatest athlete. How many times have you seen him just blast a double leg into guys to take them down (especially since his loss to serra)? GSP mixes his strikes with takedowns and what he does is get guys to get offensive on the feet, and he then cuts under them to their legs (alves, bj, hardy, even matt serra). When someone is completely off balance, its not hard to take them down.
My point is, GSP is a counter wrestler while silva is a counter striker. GSP not going to get out of position to take a shot. Hes not the same type of wrestler to fight through a bas position like sonnen is able to, and you know hes not going to be over aggressive on the feet. So what is he going to do to open silva up?
Silva has shown that if you dont want to attack him, that hes more than willing to sit back and let the crowd boo. Is GSP willing to put a fight like that on? ow granted GSP gets booed when he lays on the guys, but when your actually taking guys down and throwing punches and staying dominant, its a little different than standing in front of your opponent and dancing.

I don't think GSP has to do anything really to open Silva up, just pick his spots. His best bet maybe trying to force Silva into the cage and take him down from there, taking away Silva space to counter. Then of course you have to worry about the Thai clinche, but GSPs grappling should be good enough to avoid it. I'm not sure what GSP would do going into the fight, but I'm sure he and Greg Jackson would come up some plan to get Silva down.

Don't really see how it's that different than Silva choking Sonnen out in the fifth.. He did enough to win.. GSP couldn't do shit to Hardy on top and Silva has proven he is so much more dangerous off his back than Hardy..

Well if he doesnt do anything to open silva up, what spots is he going to be picking? Thats the thing, silva will stay away untill you come after him so to force silva into the cage, you have to bull him into the cage, which means you have to get in his striking range.

He's has to be patient and take his shots at a double, and maybe mix it up with a bull rush or two, he certainly can't approch it the way he has other fights, because of Silvas striking, but you also have to account to Silva not letting go like he normally would for fear of being taken down.

True, but GSP can afford to be boo'd, Silva really can't at this point, not that Silva would, or should care. That's why I just rushing in for a double or forcing him into the cage and working a single are his best bets, but like you said Silva doesn't wanna let go if he doesn't have to. Its why GSP has to close distance without striking and just shoot, and maybe the first 2 get stuffed, but eventually I think GSP should be able to get him down, now while doing that, he need to avoid counters and knees.

you would have to think the advantage would go to Anderson (vs. GSP). that doesnt mean that you cant be pulling for GSP. sometimes, the underdog is just that. it seems to me that those of you who are analyzing GSP as having the advantage are doing so from an emotional place.
My favorite fighter is Rashad Evans. i'm a big-time mark for Rashad. i remember when he was going to face Chuck, i felt very uncomfortable leading up to that fight. Chuck had supposed superior striking (was possibly still regarded as the best striker in MMA), legendary takedown defense, and this fight happened before Rashad had actually come into his own as a contender. all i could say was that "i was nervous about the fight, but i'm pulling for Rashad."
i'm not knocking GSP at all. i'm not saying he can't win. but he's the underdog. accept it.
