Like, seriously, just now getting around to playing Gears of War with the wife.
Usually only get new videogames when it's something from Valve, or a special occasion like Christmas or my birthday. Also got the Orange Box and finished Portal in one sitting. Really loved it! Surprised I didn't have to go online for one of the puzzles.

I'll wait, unless its one of those rare games that'll take ages to drop down in price (see: Blizzard games)

I buy most of my games in the Steam sales.
I used to, but now I just wait for the most part and get it Goozexed or used. Unless I REALLY want the game now or it has online play and will be replaced in a year, I wait.
Also, I do take advantage of Steam sales a lot.

I got a 360 in the summer and have only bought one game at full price. There are a few new games I wouldn't mind owning, but in 6 months to a year I'll be able to get them for $20 or less. Plus I haven't gotten around to playing most of the games I picked up for it.
Nintendo never drops the prices of their games and if they do it's usually only by $5 or $10. Normally I'll buy those soon after they're released because I'll be paying the same amount after a year. I can hold off for third party games because they're usually reduced after a while.

The only time I buy somethin on release day is if its mad hot like Bad Company 2 but most of the stuff I buy is when it goes down to at least $20.

I tend to wait. I get 1 or 2 new games a year..they tend to be games that I really want. I get most of my stuff for cheap from half.com months later.

I play the cheaper older games in between playing the newer releases. I buy a couple at full price, something like Marvel vs Capcom 3, Arkham City, Fallout New Vegas, Red Dead... on release date but stuff like Shattered Dimensions and Infamous can wait.

Majority of my game collection and games bought were either used copies or "old" games since I tend to buy games I want to keep playing for years or trade away games I don't care for anymore as a way to get discounts on newer titles.
Not counting downloadable games, most I've spent on an Xbox 360 game was $40 (GTA IV Episodes Disc) and maybe 3 times for $50 games on the Wii. Every other game was either bought at a discount from trade-ins or older titles.

I'm so backlogged with games that by the time I want to play something it's been 2 years since it came out so it's cheap by the time I buy it.

I tend to get Madden on release day, and I did get Red Dead first day out, but I normally wait.

It's pretty rare for me to get a game on release, especially when most of them get reduced significantly after they have been out a month or two.

I already had a thread about this even.
Spend like £40 on the main sports/FPS games on release (FIFA, COD, Fight Night etc), then shit myself with anger when they are reduced days later.

It's very rare that I end up buying a game for full price. The rate I play them is very random so I generally have 2 or 3 lined up at any time to play so I can wait for them to come down. AC: Brotherhood Smackdown 2011 and Forza 3 Ultimate were the last 3 that I got that were new, but they were gifts and AC was on sale.
I generally just like to browse Amazon or eBay and find what they have going on for around $10 or $15 and if it's something good I'll get it and play it whenever I get around to it. No use wasting money on something that is going to drop in price before I get around to playing it anyway.

I wait for gamestop's deals, like the buy 2 used get 1 free. Or just wait for the price drop for games like CoD or Gears FPS in particular because those tend to have sequels meaning price drops.

I have never and will never pay for a sports game because people who do are fucking retarded.
You pay full price for a game you will play for a year and then you can find it in the bargain bin. NHL 09 is not that much different from NHL 10. Dont understand why people would pay such a ridiculous amount for a game with so few new features.
NHL 11 - $70
NHL 10 - $10
NHL 09 - $5
NHL 08 - $3
NHL 07 - $1
Those are the prices at my local EB games.
