View Full Version : Predict the Road to Wrestlemania

Alright I know we do this a lot but for what other reason is the board any good? I got some idea's for the Road to Wrestlemania I'd like to see happen and they are at the same time predictions.
So use this thread as a means to post your Wrestlemania or Elimination Chamber predictions/fantasy.
I've come up with some ideas for Wrestlemania that make sense to me...
WWE Championship Match
The Miz (c) vs John Cena
World Heavyweight Title Match
Alberto Del Rio (c) vs Randy Orton
The Core vs The New Nexus
Wade Barrett vs CM Punk
The Streak vs Career
The Undertaker vs Kane w/Special Guest Enforcer Kimbo Slice
The Return: Street Fight
Triple H vs Sheamus
Money In The Bank
Edge vs Christian vs Slater vs Gabriel vs Otunga vs Daniel Bryan vs John Morrison vs R-Truth
WWE Intercontinetal Triple Threat
Kofi Kingston vs Drew McIntyre vs Jack Swagger
The Big Show vs Ezekiel Jackson
WWE Diva's Title Match
Nattie vs Beth Pheonix
WWE Tag Team Title Match
Santino & Kozlov vs Harris & McGillicutty
Now WWE hasn't done 10 matches at Wrestlemania in a while I don't think, so this could be a stretch. I just don't know how they could leave some of the lower card guys off who have worked so hard this year.
I think Del Rio could win the title from Edge in Elimination Chamber and get challenged by Orton.
I think WWE will go for they two biggest faces vs the two biggest up coming heels for the title matches.
I know Undertaker vs Kane doesn't excite most people but there is no way they could just leave it unnoticed after Kane's recent dominance. And adding Kimbo such as the rumor goes is a good idea to spice it up and adds that mainstream "Wrestlemania" moment.
If WWE wants a hot main event, it's gotta be Cena vs Miz. After a three and a half hour show why not save the most over for last?

yea, I agree the build to Punk vs Barrett or Nexus vs Corre is appraoching. I can't wait for that

<font color=goldenrod>I still think that Cena and Punk meet in a WWE Title match at Mania. One of them wins the Rumble while the loser wins the belt at Elimination Chamber.
But it's gotta happen. They need a blowoff match and Cena obviously needs to come out on top in the end so that the Nexus can be finally dissolved. Cena being in one of the title matches is pretty much a given until they decide to put him against the Undertaker.</font>

I'm thinking it could go something like this
WWE Championship-World Heavyweight Championship Unification match
The Miz (WWE Champ) vs Edge (WHC)
Streak on the Line
The Undertaker vs Wade Barrett
2/3 falls match
John Cena vs CM Punk
Last Man Standing
Triple H vs King Sheamus
6 Man tag
The Corre vs NexSES
Money In The Bank
Alberto Del Rio vs Dolph Ziggler vs Big Show vs Christian vs Ted Dibiase vs Daniel Bryan vs John Morrison vs Randy Orton
Grudge Match
Rey Mysterio vs "Dashing" Cody Rhodes (Rey broke Cody's nose now he wants revenge)
Divas Championship
Natayla vs ?

I dunno about the unification ... I don't think it's going happen, but it wouldn't be bad.
Also I don't think that Edge has nearly enough steam to be in a featured match other than MITB. They need to do something with him that will get OVER, and the only thing I thought of was starting a program with Christian involving MITB.
Edge kinda ruined Smackdown! this past week, he isn't in top form in any way righ now.

You may be right, and it could be one of the best choices for sure. My logic is, Cena/New Nexus can go into Elimination Chamber or after Wrestlemania if they continue the group.
Also, unless they kill off Kane at Elimination Chamber or on Smackdown or Raw, The Undertaker is coming for revenge. And if that is the case the rumored Wade Barrett feud won't happen because he will want to kill Kane.
So who is there for Barrett? Punk, he's the one who kicked him off the top of the cage and booted him from Raw.
Also, what does Kane do at Wrestlemania without Undertaker? And without Undertaker and Kane, who care about Kane? The story is too relevant and big to be ignored.
Another thing... Miz, he's getting the biggest heat in WWE next to Vicky Guerrero, he is becoming the next big thing, and what does he do without the title at Wrestlemania? Does anyone care to see the Miz cast revenge on Morrison, or anyone else for that matter? No, it's more interesting to see him on the run and come out on top, week in and week out. That's why I think Cena/Miz will headline....
Now I know the Del Rio idea is out of the blue, however I don't see him winning the Rumble (but doing well). I think though, that he is more than ready to be in the WWE main event scene, and I feel like Orton/Del Rio would have a natural chemistry and draw.
Plus giving Del Rio the title at Elimination Chamber gives him an edge before Wrestlemania, like Eddie Guerrero had when he won the title. PLUS if he keeps it, he is one of like two heels to ever do so.

I'll definitely post something tonight detailed after work tonight, but I'm with Vito about Punk winning the Rumble and Cena winning in the Chamber, then those two at Mania. Plus Taker/Barrett, Miz/Lawler, and a pretty star-studded MitB.

The problem I have with Nexus VS Core match is that Punk and Barrett are both awesome heels. Heel vs heel matches don't really work, and I don't want either to turn face.
Punk/Cena and Barrett/Undertaker seems a lot better to me.
So, how is this different to the other WM Prediction threads? :-\

Its called Predict the Road to WM. So it should be more about the build up than the actual card/predictions.
I see 2 WM cards with little explanatiom of how we got to them. No details on what does down at the Rumble, no Elimination Chamber card.
If we're gonna do this, let's to it right/Noid_style.
I want details dammit!

Change Corre vs New Nexus to a 4 on 4 match.
Mr. Pierre
01-22-2011, 04:31 PM
I think a Corre vs. New Nexus match at Mania would feel way too rushed. I'd rather have both stables stay away from each other for at least 5 or 6 months, so this gives each group a bit of time to build individual characters and a separate identity. By then a 4 on 4 would have a lot more meaning than just "Punk vs. Barrett".
If they wanna have a stable warfare tag match with these 2, then maybe Summerslam would work, but I really don't think it would reach it's full potential if it happened before that. So far though, I think this might happen:
WWE Championship
CM Punk (c) vs. John Cena
King of Kings vs. King of the Ring
Triple H vs. Sheamus
Streak on the Line
The Miz vs. The Undertaker
World Heavyweight Championship
Edge (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio
Grudge Match
Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho
Grudge Match
Kane vs. Wade Barrett
Money in the Bank
Morrison vs. Swagger vs. Bourne vs. McIntyre vs. Rhodes vs. Big Show vs. R-Truth vs. Dibiase
United States Championship
Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler
Intercontinental Championship
Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Rey Mysterio

Well for mine...I figure Miz sneaks into the rumble and wins to try and hold onto his title by default, but then challenges Edge to a match for HIS title which he obviously accepts
-Punk and Cena is self explanatory with their feud. Pretty much plays out throughout the weeks
-Following the Rumble, The Corre start to get strange messages ala Taker's mindgames. Eventually he returns (EC or shortly before/after) and we're reminded how Nexus screwed Taker over and buried him alive and now wants revenge on the former leader
-HHH returns at the Rumble and after hearing Sheamus brag about being the King, he challenges him to prove himself. They could also face off in the Raw elimination chamber
-Corre and NexSES members face each other at the Rumble and want to challenge each other to see who is truly the "Most Dominant stable in WWE today"
-Mysterio and Rhodes plays off on the fact that Rey accidentally broke Cody's nose, ruining his good looks, and now he wants to make Rey pay. Starts with the Rumble itself, possibly SD Elimination Chamber, and eventually they decide to settle the score at Mania.
-Money in the Bank is pretty much just the same old with that.

I just want somebody to explain to me how The Undertaker is supposed to not face Kane as soon as he comes back? He lost like four PPV matches to him for Christ sake! How can this program not continue?
Jordan
01-22-2011, 08:26 PM
I like the idea of Miz and Undertaker if Miz loses the title. It would make total sense, although Undertaker would have to finish Kane at Elimination Chamber and Miz would have something to prove.
The only thing is that I don't see Miz losing at Wrestlemania, I think he should win and keep his steam going.
Jordan
01-22-2011, 08:28 PM
Edge....
What for him? Christian? God, I hope they take the title off of him ASAP, his steam is non existent and the only interesting thing he could possibly do right now is cut his hair like Jericho said, or get into it with Christian.

WWE TITLE - John Cena (c) vs. CM Punk
Pretty self-explanatory, really. The Cena/Nexus feud continues to rage on, continuing through the Rumble which sees Cena get dumped out at the hands of Punk's minions. Punk winds up winning the match to earn the shot at 'Mania. Cena winds up outlasting John Morisson, Randy Orton, The Miz, Sheamus, and Triple H (more on him later) to win the WWE Title in the Elimination Chamber - possibly overcoming the odds by starting the match. Punk challenges Cena, and Cena gets to go over another top star at 'Mania. This will undoubtedly piss me off, since I'll be there and I love Punk.
WORLD TITLE - Edge (c) vs. Christian vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Alberto Del Rio
Del Rio's mouth finally gets him in over his head after an impressive run in the Royal Rumble. Del Rio manages to outlast Kane, Rey, Barrett, and Kofi Kingston before being Edge's last elimination inside the Chamber, leading to Teddy Long proclaiming him to be the #1 contender. But that night, Christian returns seeking revenge on Del Rio for injuring him. As the weeks go by, ADR's rival Rey Mysterio starts getting involved in all this as well. Finally, Del Rio cuts a promo on how it's his destiny to defeat Edge at WrestleMania and become World Champion. But he's man enough to beat all three of his rivals, it's just a shame his match with Edge is already made. Long calls him out on that, setting up the fatal fourway. Somehow (Xian or Edge turning heel on the other?) Del Rio manages to do the impossible, becoming World Champion against the three megafaces.
Triple H vs. Sheamus
Sheamus thought he ended HHH's career last year. About 2/3 through the Rumble, Sheamus has completely cleared the ring and is posing, yelling about being King of the Ring, when "King Of Kings" hits and Hunter makes his "shocking" return. The two wind up eliminating each other that night as well as costing each other the WWE Title in the Elimination Chamber, building to a WM rematch between them and HHH getting his win back.
Undertaker vs. Wade Barrett
After disposing of Big Show and ending their mini-feud, Barrett starts to get creepy message "from beyond." Obviously, we find out at that Undertaker has returned when he appears (from nowheres!!!!!!!!) on the ramp during the World Title Elimination Chamber, causing Barrett to be eliminated. The big part of the build-up is Barrett's role in burying Undertaker alive as well as previous attacks on the Deadman. Obviously Taker wins and the streak survives.
The Miz vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
On the RAW after the Elimination Chamber, Miz is in the ring complaining about losing the WWE Title to John Cena. Going on to WrestleMania to face CM Punk was going to be a WrestleMania Moment people would be talking about for generations. The Straight-Edge Superstar against the Most Must-See WWE Champion Of All-Time would mean-- but he's interrupted by Lawler, who talks about wanting a WrestleMania moment of his own. He's worked for this company off and on for 18 years and has never had a match at WrestleMania. So if Miz wants a Mania Moment they'll all be talking about for generations... he'll give it to him! Lawler puts up a valiant effort, but Miz winds up picking up the win.
INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE - Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Kane
During the World Title Elimination Chamber, Kofi eliminates Kane with a huge spot off the top of one of the pods. That week on SmackDown!, Kofi is defending the IC belt against one of the usual suspects (Swagger?) but Kane's pyro hits, and the Big Red Monster destroys the champ with a big clothesline before posing with the belt. Teddy makes the match, and Kofi pulls off another huge upset to hopefully get back on the main-event track.
MONEY IN THE BANK - Big Show vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Evan Bourne vs. John Morrison vs. Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Jack Swagger vs. Justin Gabriel
If this year's Royal Rumble is the "biggest ever," Money In The Bank can feature three former World Champions, too many midcard titles to count, and some of the flashiest high-fliers in the company who will pull out all the stops to steal the show. Eventually, I see Ziggler getting the briefcase and cashing in pretty shortly thereafter. Possibly at Extreme Rules? I also think Ziggler could be the first to cash in and lose, but I think he'll have the World Title by Summerslam.
DIVAS' TITLE - Natalya (c) vs. Beth Phoenix
I'm assuming Beth turns heel at some point down the line, and I think WWE (rightfully) sees these two as their best workers. However, the match is interrupted by the shocking debut of Kong, who destroys both of them, sending a message to the champion and challenger alike.
TAG TURMOIL FOR THE WWE TAG TEAM TITLES - Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov (c) vs. Mark Henry and R-Truth vs. The Corre (Ezekiel Jackson and Heath Slater) vs. Nexus (David Otunga and Mason Ryan) vs. Nexus (Husky Harris and Michael McGillicutty)
I could see this being the dark match, just an excuse to get these ten guys a WM payday. Santino and Kozlov retain, eliminating Otunga and Ryan last.
- Punk wins the Rumble with the help of Nexus, eliminating John Cena last. Cena wins the WWE Title off of Miz at Elimination Chamber. This sets up Cena versus Punk for the WWE Title at Mania, while Miz continues his feud with Orton and we get Miz versus Orton in the undercard in some kind of gimmick match.
- Del Rio takes the World Heavyweight Title at Elimination Chamber while Rey Mysterio wins the #1 contendership for WrestleMania. Edge uses his rematch clause to get into the match as well and we have Del Rio versus Mysterio versus Edge for the World Title.
- Barrett comes close to winning the World Title at EC, but Undertaker returns to beat his ass (maybe coming up through one of the chambers through a panel or something) and they build a feud with Barrett and the Core versus Undertaker for Mania.
- Triple H returns at the Rumble and almost wins the thing but gets screwed over by Sheamus. They feud all the way up to Mania where they face each other in an Atlanta Street Fight match.
- Goldberg shows up around Elimination Chamber time and faces/squashes Kane at Mania.

Loopdate, that was fantastic. While you can tell I am strongly against not finishing The Undertaker/Kane story, that would be a really great card.
The only problem I have with it is Randy Orton... He's way too hot not to get a "big" match at Wrestlemania. Although I do get your point about him making the match bigger than ever, which is good BUT I really think he should be in a higher profile match.
Your idea for Edge/Rey/Christian/Del Rio is fantastic though, perfect PERFECT way to get somebody over. Put them over three huge babyfaces in one match, love it.
Even happy with Barrett/Taker and Kane/Kofi, it all makes sense. Good job :y:

loopydate, your WrestleMania predictions are very similar to mine:
WWE CHAMPIONSHIP: John Cena (c) vs. CM Punk
The story here is that CM Punk wins the Royal Rumble with the help of his fanatic followers, and secures himself a place in the main event. At Elimination Chamber, the odds are stacked against The Miz, when he faces John Cena, Randy Orton, Sheamus, John Morrison and Triple H in the Elimination Chamber for the WWE Title. The Miz starts the match off, and makes it right to the end somehow, but the "must-see WWE Title reign" is ended when John Cena pins The Miz following an Attitude Adjustment. CM Punk is shown applauding Cena from the stage after the match.
The story here is that Punk believes that he, as The Straight-Edge Savior, should be considered the franchise of the WWE. He mentions how he used to respect Cena for being a company man, but talks about all his flaws. Punk really brings hustle, loyalty and respect. I'm sure Cena would walk out of WrestleMania the WWE Champion, but I have a feeling that Punk would win the WWE Title at Extreme Rules.
WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: Edge (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Christian
Alberto Del Rio calls it his destiny to be the World Heavyweight Champion, but he is eventually eliminated from the Royal Rumble after Christian makes his surprise return, tossing out Del Rio (perhaps even not as an official participant). Del Rio makes a big stink about it, and Christian wants to face Del Rio, but Del Rio wants Edge and the World Heavyweight Title.
Now, I don't know how they get there exactly, as they have to work through Elimination Chamber -- but I think we see shenanigans that go down, which doesn't give us a clear #1 Contender. Vickie Guerrero declares that both Christian and Alberto Del Rio will face Edge at WrestleMania with the big gold belt on the line. I can't see Edge walking out of that match as champion, and while I'd like to see it go to Christian, in a feel-good moment, it'd probably be Del Rio winning the big one.
The Undertaker vs. Wade Barrett
This one is simple: Wade Barrett doesn't win the Royal Rumble, so he vows to win the Elimination Chamber. He doesn't win that, either, because The Undertaker returns, costing Barrett (and possibly Kane) the match. Barrett cuts a few promos about how he buried The Undertaker so that he could rise, but now Taker is back, he wants to end his WrestleMania streak. He doesn't do that, but the presence of The Corre is enough to give people doubt Taker will be walking out 19-0.
NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH: Sheamus vs. Triple H
The Game returns on the post-Rumble edition of RAW, and does the usual return promo. Sheamus makes his way out and wants to know what Triple H is doing in his ring. At the Royal Rumble he was screwed (John Morrison and Daniel Bryan team together to eliminate him), and he is thinking forward to the Elimination Chamber, and he doesn't need the past showing up and wasting time on his show. He tells Triple H to get out of his ring, or he'll beat him down even worse than he did at Extreme Rules. Triple H says that he's actually come back to announce that he's ready to make a comeback, and wants to be in the Elimination Chamber himself. Sheamus asks Triple H who he thinks he is, the General Manager of RAW won't allow this. Triple H reveals that the General Manager is already here, and sends a text to Michael Cole, who confirms this.
The Game steps down as General Manager, so he can be an active competitor, and Sheamus is all "I'll get Triple H inside the most dangerous structure in the WWE...I'm looking forward to it, fella." During that match, Triple H starts early, and Sheamus starts late -- allowing the High King to surprise Triple H with a Brogue Kick, and pin him, ending Triple H's dreams of another WWE Title win at WrestleMania. The King of Kings takes exception to this, and Pedigrees Sheamus, allowing John Morrison to pin him. Sheamus is furious, and challenges Triple H to another No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania XXVII. Triple H wants to accept, but Stephanie McMahon is shown in backstage segments begging Triple H not to, for the sake of his family. Triple H's pride as a competitor is eventually goaded by Triple H taking things too far and approaching Triple H's daughters, or something, and the match is set.
Triple H manages to reach down deep and win the match at WrestleMania, leading to a Hell in a Cell at Extreme Rules. Hopefully the Hell in a Cell PPV concept is scrapped, and the match can go back to being used for feuds which warrant it. There, Sheamus gets a final victory, before he makes another run for the World Title.
Randy Orton & Jerry Lawler vs. The Miz & Alex Riley
I don't think Jerry Lawler needs to wrestle at WrestleMania, but I can definitely see it happening, with him being more involved in the in-ring aspect of things recently. Also, while Orton vs. The Miz one-on-one would probably be a straight-up better match, the inclusion of the old veteran and the young rookie throws the dynamics all about. Yes, we did see this match recently on RAW, but I think the WWE will forget this, or pump it full of some sort of stipulation.
WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP: Kofi Kingston (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
I don't know why I am predicting this match. I just see it happening. It'd be face vs. face, but two high-flyers that the WWE loves to promote. They'd be lots of hand-shakes and "I respect yous" going around this program. But hopefully Kofi Kingston would win, and get a big victory going forward in his career.
Big Show vs. Dolph Ziggler
I'm still predicting this match. The Big Show has been in Money in the Bank before, but they love finding him other stuff to do on the main WrestleMania card. Ziggler is a star on the rise, and I see him coming into this match with two back-to-back PPV challenges for the World Heavyweight Title. The story here would be that after failing to win the big one, Ziggler passive aggressively snaps at Vickie Guerrero (the acting GM), and she freaks. Ziggler apologises profusely, but Vickie is a woman scorned, and says that she does forgive Dolph, and she's going to give Ziggler a chance to steal the show at WrestleMania...against The Big Show! Ziggler is at first disappointed and overwhelmed, but soon adapts to the challenge -- trying to climb the ranks in the WWE, as well as keep his sorta-girlfriend happy. And Ziggler does win this match, hopefully -- bringing The Giant down with his Sleeper Hold.
MONEY IN THE BANK LADDER MATCH: Cody Rhodes vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Evan Bourne vs. Jack Swagger vs. John Morrison vs. Justin Gabriel vs. Kane vs. R-Truth vs. Ted DiBiase
As always, this match is essentially just the guys that are left over getting WrestleMania paydays. Justin Gabriel is in the match representing himself and Corre. But the only two really stand-out picks for winners are Daniel Bryan and John Morrison, and I do think that Morrison wins it this year -- playing off so many victories over Sheamus, who is also on the rise. I wouldn't rule out a surprise Jack Swagger win, though.
WWE DIVAS CHAMPIONSHIP: Natalya (c) vs. Beth Phoenix vs. Michelle McCool vs. Layla
Natalya and Beth are basically on a collision course with the Divas Title on the line, but LayCool will no doubt insert themselves into the WrestleMania title picture. The story here will be whether or not McCool and Layla co-operate long enough to secure the belt, or whether Natalya & Beth can take them out, and make it between them. I, too, see Kong debuting after this match, and destroying everyone.
