View Full Version : Where in the world is Ric Flair?
From PWInsider:
Ric Flair missed today's TNA house show event in Berlin, Germany after sources within the company described to me as "Flair refusing to get on the plane to Germany".
There were a number of stories making the rounds as to what the exact issue was, but TNA sources have confirmed there was some sort of blow-up between Flair and a member of TNA Management in Dublin, Ireland.
"He threw a fit," said the source, who would speak only under condition of anonymity. "He was playing 'Nature Boy' on the tour and got pissed off and threw a tantrum. As far as we all know, he's in Dublin still. He said he wasn't coming and he wasn't in Berlin."
This wouldn't be the first time we've heard of a Flair outburst since he signed with TNA a year ago, although most were incidents after events that wouldn't have caused a change to scheduled cards.
Flair was not advertised to wrestle in Berlin, but is advertised as teaming with Kazarian against Douglas Williams & Matt Morgan.on 1/27 in Glasgow, Scotland.
When reached at the TNA offices in Nashville, TNA's head of publicity, Steven Godfrey noted, "TNA does not comment on personnel matters."

Probably in the same place the Undertaker went after his casket match with Yokozuna in 1994 and where the warrior went from 1992-1996. Parts Unknown most likely.

From PWInsider:
The Ric Flair incident in Dublin, Ireland was said to have been driven by Flair demanding money "in advance" from a member of TNA management. When his request wasn't granted, Flair allegedly tried to play hardball, refusing to get on a bus that was taking the TNA troupe to the airport for their flight. That incident led to a decision being made to leave Flair behind, since he was refusing to get on the plane and this had not been the first instance of similar issues with Flair over the last year.
According to one person I spoke to after we initially wrote about the Flair situation, there were members of the roster in favor of leaving Flair behind due to his outburst and some were mocking him, using his "signature promo lines" after he was left behind.
There was a lot of discussion regarding how much Flair's legendary "partying" on the road during the tour may have factored into his decision to refuse to get on the bus as well.
To clarify something making the rounds, Flair was not sent home from the tour by TNA management. He was simply left behind after refusing to travel following his issue with the member of TNA management. All signs are Flair is still in Europe and he could easily catch up to the troupe in Scotland, if he chooses.
There was no official decision to send him home, just a decision to leave him behind when he had his "blow-up" as opposed to holding up an entire roster of talents waiting to travel internationally.
TNA declined to comment on the Flair situation when contacted by PWInsider.com earlier today.

According to a report by Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, the belief is that Ric Flair will be joining the TNA crew soon for the next event on Thursday in Glasgow, Scotland. As noted in a report yesterday, Flair was left behind by the TNA crew after demanding money in advance from TNA tour manager Craig Jenkins as they were departing on a bus to take them to a flight heading to Berlin, Germany.
Based on the report by Mike Johnson, the decision to allow Flair back on the tour won't be considered a popular decision among the TNA crew and wrestlers. A majority of the crew were in favor of leaving Flair behind after his outburst just before boarding the bus and some even spoke up to TNA management about the issue pushing for Flair to be sent home or even let go by the company. TNA added Flair to the tour after a number of talent were forced off including Kurt Angle (who left due to the birth of his new child), AJ Styles (out with injury) and Alex Shelley (injury). Matt Hardy was added late to the lineup following his debut at the Genesis PPV.
One TNA talent, who wanted to remain anonymous, sent the following to PWInsider about Flair:
"The whole thing was stupid but most of us feel more sorry for him than upset. If someone told you everyone is mad, that's a lie. But, there are some pissed because it makes the entire crew look like assholes and we are certainly tired of his sh*t. Flair's asked several of us for money when he's had his credit cards declined. When that happens, the bar tab comes and others get stuck paying for the very drinks he said were on the house in the first place. Everyone loves the "Nature Boy", but when the limousines and party lifestyle is based on bad credit and lies, it suddenly becomes more pathetic than anything else. There is nothing glamorous about a guy who has no concept of money management and then lies to try and get out of it. The fact he has no money should be a lesson every wrestler today should take note of. Don't let this happen to you. If you read the Gorgeous George book that came out and then take an honest look at Ric, you realize, wow, that book is pretty much predicting his future - and that's not a happy ending."
Another TNA source also stated that Flair's blow up couldn't have come at a better time since it would force TNA management to deal with the situation and possibly cause them to be cautious in bringing in "big name" talent like Flair in the future. This same source added that many of the young talent are starting to "unite against the veterans" who, in the words of the source, have shown no upside based on current ratings and overall business. The young talent feel like they are "pulling the cart" so to speak with their work effort working on the road regularly while veteran talent don't and choose to use TNA as their own personal "country club."
This same source later told PWInsider:
"I respect what the older guys have done, but they aren't making us any money. Nothing reflects that. We would draw the exact same if 99% of them were gone. Sometimes you have to take a step backwards to take a leap forward and I really think more and more that's where TNA is. Obviously, you need some veteran talents but there's a crew here that wants to build a company and we want to focus on that, not paying someone's bar tab and having to wait for him to fight it out with Craig Jenkins [TNA Management] when he doesn't get his way."
