HUH? who in the bloody fuck hurt my boy Suga?!?!? I was super amped for this fight, and now you lay this shit on me? FFS, injuries happen all the time, and I was just marveling at how remarkably healthy he's been. Oh well.
Jon Jones presents such an interesting matchup for Rua the reach, the momentum, this could throw Rua off, just cause he's so been planning for Evans' style. Unless his plan was blitzkrieg all along.

That was kinda shocking last night.. I like Rashad but still seeing a young kid get his opportunity was pretty exciting.. Even with the two losses, they could've given it to Forrest, just because he has the previous win over Rua..

Forrest was nowhere close to dserving a title shot, he was off for a year and only had a win over Tito since being embarrassed by Silva. Sure he has a win over Rua a couple years ago, but Rua was coming back off injury and gassed out.

I know bit he is still a more established name and former champ, who hold a win over the current champ..

Flashy young kid gets a shot...I can see this. I'm just trying to figure out who's next for Suga...Franklin, rematch with Forrest? He wants to fight ASAP after he heals in the next 6 weeks (blown out knee, REALLY DANA?). Luiz kan is still lurking around, Vera could've been a good idea (but he's effing cut). Machida/couture/page/silva/bader/Ortiz/Lil Nog are all tied up.

This friggin sucks for Suga!

I swear to God, if Bones hit Rashad with a steel pipe I'm gonna claw his fucking heart out.

OBVIOUS ICE SKATING REFERENCE HERE BOYS! KEEP UP!

If rampage beats thiago silva, then they'll prolly have a rashad/Rampage rematch for the number one contender spot..

Look at Dos Santos.. He had a contender spot locked up till Cain got hurt.. Now he's gotta fight Lesnar just to get back the spot he already had..

Yeah, but if you're the best, you're going to win no matter who you fight, belt or no belt. No sense in waiting a year, missing a paycheck and developing some ring rust. Yeah you're in line for a title fight and you earned it, but if you can't win this fight you didn't really derserve to be champion.

Maybe, but Dana already told Rampage if he wins he's in line for a shot.

Tim Sylvia probably did it on accident while reaching for another ham sandwich.

yeah but that's cause he wanted to keep on fighting. plus he's turning down a title shot in effect. rampage is the complete opposite in that he's coming off a loss to the number 1 contender and a weird flukey decision against machida. even he thought he lost that fight.

I'd have just thought Rashad will fight the winner of Shogun/Jones

Na Rashad & Jones are in the same camp, and 'Shad said he'll move up to HW or down to MW if Jones wins the belt.

What a femidom. Fighting would probably bring them closer together than ever. Worked for Rocky and Apollo.

MMA is different though. These guys train with each other day in and day out and some, like Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, become close friends. The purpose of MMA is to hurt the other guy and I don't know too many people who would be willing to fight their friends for money. Jon Jones broke Vera's face, I doubt he'd want to do something like that to someone he considers a close friend and keep him from being able to earn a living.

Boxers hire sparring partners and pay them to get their shit rocked. MMA fighters don't have that luxury.

Every other sport, there's not nearly as much physicality involved as there is in MMA. It may be frustrating as fans, but fighters are people too.

What round other than the third did you have machida winning??

Guys who are friends fight like wild dogs and stay friends after. Griffin/Franklin being the most recent example.

I'd be willing to bet that Griffin and Franklin are more close acquaintances than close friends like Jones and Evans though. Also, neither guy trains together. Even Rich Franklin has declined to fight his training partners.

so you thought the franklin/griffin fight looked like two guys fighting like wild dogs?

i dunno why everyone always wants to see teammates fight anyway. they probably won't go balls out and plus they know each others game inside out anyway so it's liable to be a shitfest.

krispy - i don't remember the fight that well to score it off the top of my head.

Shogun looks like a predator in that pic... but not in a good way... in that skeevy latin guy hitting on your girlfriend while you guys are on vacation kind of way.

In all seriousness, though. It's not like they didn't go toe to toe the whole fight. It might not have been Griffin/Bonnar, but they never really let up for more than a little bit at a time.
