View Full Version : Is the WWE to allow?

With rumors of Sting signing with the WWE, and people hoping when Kurt Angle's contract with TNA is up that he signs with TNA it made me wonder.
Is the WWE able to allow certain performers a limited schedule? Meaning performing only at PPV's and televised events. I mean they already do for Rey Mysterio, but that's only because he's injured, but is the WWE willing to sign a wrestler who wants a limited schedule?
Is it possible? Or is Vince McMahon to narrow minded to let it happen?
Of course it can happen, and will when Vince really wants someone.
In fact, I was listening to a Paul Bearer shoot and he got just this. Only working PPVs and TVs. He was even given permission to work anywhere he wanted (barring TNA, of course).

Yeah, but he's only a manager for a wrestler so I can see that happening, but could it happen for main-eventer?
I could see it happening for a wrestler that isn't going to be with the company for a while but it seems wrestler goes over well on RAW or Smackdown that Vince would want them to help the draw to house shows.
I'm just mentioning this due to the new rumor that WWE wanted Sting to work a full-schedule for the WWE.
Taker's on a similar deal.
It definitely happens. It just depends on how much they need them and how important they are to buyrates and ratings.
Cena four years ago wouldn't have gotten it, but now? I could see him getting such a deal if he absolutely wanted house shows off.

HBK didn't do too many house shows when he was around, did he?

I don't know, but I do know he was never on Smackdown because that Teusday was his church day and that was the same day Smackdown was taped.

You guys do realize that its been confirmed that the New York paper story about Sting signing with WWE was totally bogus and unfounded, according to other websites i've read that tend to have more reliable information, there has been NO talks or contact between WWE and Steve Borden AKA Sting at this time. Jim Ross even blogged on his website that through his contacts and affiliation with WWE he is not aware of any negotiations or deal between WWE and Borden.

I'm sure it could happen.... guys with lon enough tenure probably have an easier time of getting out of House Shows for personal reasons..... I'm sure if Cena went to Vince and said he wanted to be at a family members wedding, Vince would give him the tour off..... same goes for guys like Edge, Orton, HHH, Taker, Mysterio, etc.

But Jim Ross is still employed by the WWE even though he isn't on tv. What Ross says could a be a work in order to actually try to surprise the wrestling community for once. I mean yeah the paper thing was bogus but it doesn't mean there isn't really negotiations going on. If Vince finds Sting to be a high enough priority, he and he alone may be the one contacting Sting and trying to come to a deal. Sting in WWE would equal ratings and a high buy rate, especially at Mania. After 20 years and Sting never being in WWE, people really would be shocked to see him.
As for the lesser travel and work schedule it happens. Shawn didn't really attend house shows and same with Taker. If Angle came back to WWE he would probably get a lesser schedule because he is still a big draw but just doesn't have it in him for full time. If the Sting thing is true he would probably get it just because he is Sting.

I was interested to see what this thread was about... the thread title was a bit of a cliff hanger. Is the WWE to allow?.... hybrid monkey wrestlers...
Oh well, next time maybe.
Of course there must be the odd exception to the full-on schedule and travel regime. Undertaken and HBK being prime examples.
I can't imagine Kurt Angle would return for anything else, as one of the main reasons he left was the schedule. But whether Kurt Angle falls into the same category as Undertaker and HBK in Vince's eyes now, I wouldn't be so sure.

I thought that was the deal Goldberg had a few years ago, set number of dates for Raw/PPVS, he wasnt on Raw for the build to the Lesnar match because he'd used up all but the Mania date and it would cost Vince more to get him to work tv.
Plus Stings 51 and only being brought in as a star attraction type deal if hes ever signed.
