View Full Version : So is Wade Barrett still 'on fire'?

Last year he was a monster heel that just kinda appeared on the scene after NXT and instantly became one the biggest heels in recent times, but since moving to Smackdown his flame seems to have kind of diminished, so to speak.

Is he still 'up there' at the top, or has he slipped down a bit since moving to Smackdown? Or is he 'in the doghouse'? I know he's got The Corre and everything, but he just doesn't feel like the same big main-event heel that he seemed like on Raw.

Then again I don't watch Smackdown every week so maybe I'm just missing something.

Besides my question, use this thread to discuss the awesomeness that is Wade Barrett.

Hes slipped, and I think its 'cause he has no Cena to play off.

I mean he played an awesome bully to Cena's victim, throwing water in his face and shit. Now he doesnt have that spark. Dunno.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about... 'that spark'.

I remember a while back someone on here asked what happened with Sheamus, why he wasn't the top guy anymore, and someone perfectly said 'Wade fucking Barrett happened'. Just doesn't seem like Wade fucking Barrett is happening right now.

Smackdown isn't really a promo or storyline heavy show and he's no longer the "leader" of his group so he's not going to get all the mic time he did on Raw, which is obviously his strength. He's on the wrong show.

Hes not a focal point of the show on Smackdown like he was on Raw with Nexus, he's still up there but the Corre isnt the mainevent angle. If the rumour of him facing 'Taker at 'Mania is true that'll change soon enough though.

he's coming off of a lengthy feud with the top guy in the company. of course he's going to seem like he's lost some steam. but he's still got it, and will continue to be a bad ass.

I'd bet you he'll grab the big gold belt sometime in the next 6 months, Summerslam at the latest.

The Corre'll get a nice 3-4 month run at the top of SD, and god knows Wade will be at the center of that. He has cooled to an extent, but he'll be just fine.

He lost a five month feud and then didn't go on to "bigger and better" things. Yeah he's lost some steam.

He's an established part of the WWE roster now which is what they really wanted from NXT. The invader tag has worn off of him now and so he's going to have a fine WWE career. I'm not sure if he's in line for a title right now, but you never know. Nobody really thought Dolph Ziggler was going to last more than a few months when he was that joke saying "hi, my name is dolph ziggler."

Creative have cooled him down so that they can build him versus Undertaker at Wrestlemania.... same thing with Cody Rhodes being off TV until he returns to feud with Rey Mysterio leading up to Mania as well.....

He's lost his edge. Really enjoyed him in the Nexus

He lost his edge, and it looks like he won't be ending Taker's streak anytime soon

Wade Barrett is still a force, but he has lost a step since being transferred to Smackdown. To be honest, Zeke is probably the one that will shine from the Corre. Barrett is alright in the ring but he poses absolutely no threat to Taker's streak. The match is pretty much a throw away and nobody will believe that Barrett has a chance when Batista, Edge and HBK couldn't do it.

I think anytime you come out of a feud in a losing effort, get overthrown in the group you created, and then get moved to a new show, you're going to lose some momentum.

In time, especially if he does end up booked against Taker at Mania, Barrett will get going again. His mic work is far too exceptional for him to get stale, and the Corre just got going, so it's going to take some time for the group as a whole to gain momentum.

Come summer time, Barrett could be back in the main event scene. And personally, I'm glad that they are taking their time pushing him on SmackDown!. No need to rush.

Punk is probably the greatest heel in the WWE, so bringing him in to take over Nexus has taken away a big chunk of Barret's heat.

Smackdown has been a developmental show for the midcarders for years now, I'm glad Barrett and the other Corre guys will be on a show where they get more time to grow/evolve, wheras Raw is more of a main eventer zone unless you're a tag team or a chick.

I don't know, something is still missing with The Corre. Can't stand Slater. Gabriel is ok so is Zeke.

I don't really blame Barrett. Like everyone has said, it's easy to look like you've lost steam after coming off a hot, top booked feud with the top face in the company. And moving down to a feud against Big Show isn't exactly a promotion. But if rumors are true about him facing Undertaker at Mania then he'll probably be back up very soon, and even if that doesn't come to fruition, the guy is simply too talented to not be a major player for years to come. I like that they didn't rush the World title onto him like so many other guys these days - when he finally wins the belt it's going to mean even more.

Spot on, Fox. The fact that they are taking their time with him appeases me. There's no need to rush him to the title. He was made into a legit main eventer without the title. And moving to SmackDown, starting over but now as an established threat is a good thing.

If the Taker fued happens, I can't wait for the promos.
