I've been having a hard time finding new music to enjoy. I don't think all of today's music is lacking, but I find it difficult to come across something I'd like. Please post any recommendations, mainstream or whatever
Usually by other friends with similar taste, but I've found a lot of good music using Last.fm's recommendations.

Usually if I buy a cd on Ebay, I'll check what other cds the seller is selling and if I see something that looks good and it's only €1 or whatever I'll chuck a bid on it.
I've come across some fucking incredible music this way. Bands that I probably would never have come across otherwise. But then at the same time I occasionally come across some that are crap.
Just gotta take that risk.

Maybe my sig and avatar can help you. :p
Back in the days, I use to visit the local music store. Nowadays I just go to RollingStone, Billboard, last.fm, Youtube and friends.

last.fm recommendations radio is the best. I find so much stuff that way since it plays stuff you haven't heard but will probably like based on all the stuff you already listen to.
Also friend recommendations or I will check my friends' last.fm pages to see what they are listening to sometimes and find stuff that way.
Also follow blogs that leak a bunch of albums and download stuff that way sometimes just randomly based on the cover art.

I check out some of the suggestions put here, I go to a music forum and ask people about bands that I should check out, and I look at the recommendations given to me by Amazon.

I usually go to metacritic, stereogum, last.fm, pitchfork, gorillavsbear, and if it gets good reviews I get it. if its a band i like i get it. Demonoid.com is also excellent if you can get a passcode

Last.fm is quite good. Generally I'll look at the artists I like and check out whats influenced them or other acts associated with them. Another way is to see what the fans of bands I like tend to listen to as well and see if thats any good.

I'll find a lot of different stuff by throwing on Pandora and seeing what I hit. Plugging in random songs/artists as stations yields some pretty great stuff.

Look on a "certain" (pm if you really want to know) website, youtube the artist and check a few of the tracks on youtube before thinking weather to decide.
I got Chromeo and Starfucker this way. BOTH total epicness! Seriously. WOW.
Pandora and Slacker have been helpful.

Pretty Reckless >>>>>>>>>>>> Paramore. Highly doubt the band likes to get crazy ass half naked fangirls onstage to dance with Taylor Fucking Momsen. She's hot!!

I'd use Pandora but it doesn't work in the UK.

Yeah that's where I learn about a lot of new music, I love it. My college roommate and I used it to discover new bands on there all the time and we ended up spending way too much money on CDs.

I've used last.fm for ages, but I've never really bothered with the Recommendations Radio until today. It's actually very good, plenty of bands on there I now have to check out more. :y:

Best I find is looking into bands that are playing my music genre festival, then looking into the bands I don't know...
