sometimes when im flipping through channels i come across these japanese cartoons. ill watch bits and peices of em because i just cant beleive how terrible they are. they are f-ucking ridiculous. there is this one about dualing with....like dungeons and dragons cards. "i'll use my SWAMP MONSTER CARD!!"
OH, YEAH, then i'll use my FLYING HORESMANCARD COMBINED WITH MY FIRE BREATHING TERADACTLE CARD!!" :wtf:
and theyre all pretty much the same. people turning into monsters that fight by causing tornados and shit. and people with huge eyes and tiny mouths sayin' a bunch of stupid, corny shyt.
i dont understand how people can watch that stupid shyt. :nono:

There are a lot like that, but that is mainly for younger people in Japan. Watch some of the adult-aimed anime and I'm nearly certain you will change your view.

Yu-Gi-Oh...absolutely terrible. As is Beyblade, Digimon and Pokemon, avoid those cartoons like the Ebola virus.
Dragon Ball Z is the dogs bollocks if you ask me. Sure its outrageous and corny at times, but it can get violent at times and is a great watch, but if you want hardcore anime, I recommend these Manga's:
Akira
Fist of the North Star
Appleseed
The Guyver Series
Street Fighter 2
Wicked City
Cannot think of many more....

Ok, it's like this (Fryza and JT Kool can back me up with the specifics later):
Cartoons that are on during the day and have little 10 year olds going on adventures with some kind of gizmo or animal (ie. yugioh, pokemon, beyblade, etc) are designed to market the toys. The cartoon is some Japanese marketing exec's afterthought. Sadly, I have to admit that one of my favourite cartoons growing up (He-Man) also started out this way.
Then you have your old animes that are being brought back or redone in the US (ie. Dragon Ball series, Transformers, etc). Anime is hot right now, so tv execs arejust picking whatever they can get their hands on. Some of these ones are older then the kids watching them.
Then you have the more mature, less kiddy animes (ie. Trigun, Inuyasha, Cowboy Bebop, etc). Very plot driven and usually pretty bloody.
Then there are the anime movies which were mentioned earlier in the thread.
There is also Japanese toon porn called Hentai, but you'll never see that on American TV. The closest you'll ever come is Heavy Metal.

*wishes the manga version of Yu-Gi-Oh! would be translated.* :'(
Wolf's Rain looked pretty good, and shows like Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, Inuyasha, Blue Sub No. Six, Chobits, Rurouni Kenshin, and .hack//sign are the man.

Chobits is.. strange. Full Metal Panic is good as well. Wolf's Rain needed some work with character development, but it was well drawn, and still pretty good. Hrm... Hellsing is also pretty good :)

Oh, and if you want a really weird anime, I'd suggest Serial Experiments: Lain. It's the animated equivalent of an acid trip; it'll blow your freaking mind.

You and your cartoon porn.
I have almost the entire Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex series on my comp and I've read the comics, but I haven't been able to get a working version of the original movie.

Kenshin is good.
NGE is the greatest thing ever.
Akira is good.
Trigun rules.
Genocyber is ehh.
Vampire Hunter D is ok, but the dub sucks.
Hellsing is cool.
Chobits is cool in a none blowing things up way.
