This is definitely more of a fantasy thread than anything else, but hear me out on this one. Rock's promo on Monday, from what I've heard, suggests that he's back for a good while. While he could go to Mania and simply play the special guest referee for a WWE Title match between Miz and Cena, I fail to see how that's going to play out. Obviously Cena would win as it would be the main event, but how does that serve the Rock/Cena rivalry that is obviously brewing here? Cena wins and Rock gives him respect for it? I don't believe it. Rocky would kill Miz. He's faced the best of the best and The Miz is nowhere near that level yet. A Cena win over Miz wouldn't be enough for an "okay, you've earned my respect" type of moment at Mania.

Not only that, but where does that leave Randy Orton and CM Punk? A one-on-one match is definitely possible, but Orton has been chasing after his WWE Title since he lost it and a rematch against Miz at WrestleMania is the logical option here, with Punk thrown in for good measure for a triple threat.

That leaves Cena out of the equation.

Here's what I'd like to see:

Next week, Cena comes out and cuts a promo on Rock saying that he respects everything the Great One has done in his career, but his comments were uncalled for and that Cena has been carrying the WWE on his shoulders since Rock left the WWE fans for Hollywood. Cena would actually try to turn the fans against The Rock for abandoning them when they needed him the most, which would most likely backlash against him and turn him into more of a heel. Rock would respond saying that he's never left the people and will always be the people's champion and that Cena might respect him, but he doesn't respect John Cena, as respect is earned, not given.

Cena would then lay down a challenge for Rock at WrestleMania. Rock would decline and say he's come back to electrify the fans, but not in the ring, which would definitely get some booes from the audience.

For the next couple of weeks, John Cena would do everything in his power to show Rock that he's got some of the Attitude Era spirit in him, being more violent and aggressive than ever before, attacking Rock in the middle of the ring, beating him senseless, and maybe even destroying one of The Rock's cars or something, Attitude Era style.

Finally, The Rock would accept Cena's challenge for Mania and we have the greatest WrestleMania main event since Rock VS Hogan.

At Mania, they have a knock down, drag out main event match that sees Cena kick out of the Rock Bottom and People's Elbow, Rock survive the STF, and finally Cena would get the win after two Attitude Adjustments. With a victory over The Rock under his belt, Rock would finally come to respect John Cena and would shake his hand and hold it up high in the center of the ring before leaving him to soak up the spotlight.

Rock would then either leave the WWE for awhile again to promote his movies and come back later once things had settled down, and John Cena would possibly be more respected by the fans after showing he has some balls and defeating the Great One at the grandest stage of them all.

That sounds pretty boring to me.

I honestly would rather see The Miz v. The Rock. You have The Miz, a fledgling fluke of a chicken shit champion who has been trying to gain everyone's respect for as long as anyone can remember going up against an egotistical mega-star who has captured the hearts and respect of absolutely everyone. The program basically writes itself, and win or lose, The Miz could use the rub of The Rock way more than Cena could.

I might just make another Rock thread to give my response. ;)

I'm probably going to wait for the Tazz Dan thread to give any further thoughts.
