Penn vs Fitch
The greatness that is Penns takedown defense will over come the powerful wrestling of Fitch.. It will be a grind it out type fight with Penn getting the decision..
Really happy to see Rivera and Sotiropolous getting a nice push.. Too bad Condit got hurt cause him vs lytle would have been amazing..

not a big fan of Fitch at all.

hope penn wins just because i suppose fitch gets a title shot if he wins. unless there's a stipulation to say fitch has to actually finish a fight to get the shot. i could go for that.
Bisping one step closer to Anderson after this one. lol.

Fitch v. Penn is a toss up for me.
I think Bisping is going to beat Rivera via decision even though I like Jorge a lot and he's overcome a lot of shit these past few years.
Definitely cheering for Sotiropolous. If anyone deserves a shot at the 155 pound belt outside of Maynard and Pettis it's him.

Michael Bisping told me that Michael Bisping was going to win.
Rivera looked like a massive pussy at teh press conference.
Hands in his pockets and looked scared as fuck.
lol Bisping's list of reasons why he'll win during the talking head thing at the start of the PPV
lol x20 Bisping during the weigh-in
Ross Pearson & Mark Hunt won on the prelims....good fucking stuff so far.
Fair play to Rivera for carrying on, he could easily have stayed down.

lol it could feasibly be called a draw, but it'd be so much better if the judges were allowed to judge the fight as a whole.

tbf i thought that last round could have been a 10-8
Ol Dirty Dastard
02-27-2011, 01:25 AM
if u give the 1st 2 to Penn which u cud, it'd still be a draw if 3 was 10-8 Fitch.
Ol Dirty Dastard
02-27-2011, 01:30 AM
Also, if u give the first round to Penn, have round 2 as 10-10, and round 3 as 10-9 Fitch, you also have a draw.
It's kind of funny, the fight was so close for the first 2 rounds, you could make an argument for 30-27 fitch or 30-26 Fitch because of how he blew BJ out in the last round.
Or you could say BJ won 29-28, given that he feasibly won rounds 1 and 2, and didnt get rocked or was in no danger of being finished in the third. Obviously, that wouldn't have seemed right, but the judging in mma is so damned weird.
A fight with guys like these either needs to be 5 rounds or judged on a whole. Round-by-round doesn't do them justice.
Ol Dirty Dastard
02-27-2011, 01:31 AM
For the record, I think Fitch had the better showing of the two, and under PRIDE judging, won the fight. But the round by round basis fucked him over.
This is good.
They can rematch for the title after GSP goes up.

NOBODY WANTS TO SEE THIS FIGHT EVER AGAIN. I DIDN'T WANNA SEE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

It wasn't a bad fight though. Back and forth for the first two rounds, and in the third round Fitch beat the hell out of Penn. It wasn't like he was lay n praying, he beat the absolute shit out of Penn. Not the MOST enthralling round I've seen, but it was something.

I thought it was a pretty good fight. Penn showed some game planning for once, and won the first 2 rounds IMO, but I could see the third being a 10-8 rounf for Fitch. BJ needs some size and cardio.

i think he should just go back down to 155. i reckon if he keeps training with hughes he could be champion again. he'd be far more dangerous to edgar fighting him on the ground.
IC Champion
02-27-2011, 06:26 PM
Training doesn't really interest Penn. If it did he would have kept Marv Marinovich as his strength and conditioning coach.
The Mask
02-27-2011, 06:41 PM
i dunno, sparring/technique training is far less mentally draining than endurance type strength and conditioning.

02-27-2011, 06:49 PM
It wasn't for lack of sparring or technique that Penn loses, and drew with Fitch. He refused to work hard, and train to the level that you're average MMA fighter of today does, nevermind what it takes to be champion. Penn can still be a champion one day, everything is still there, it's about how hard he wants to work for it.
Penn is lazy and would rather go as far as his talent an ability take him, and when he falls short make excuses. Atleast last night he didn't do the latter.

To be fair his intent was really to stop the fight, but more to land points and keep working to avoid being stood up. But he's still boring as fuck.

i was only speaking about what 'interests' penn, as you say. i agree he needs to put more in, but i think it's great he's working with hughes because if he concentrated more on being a ground fighter than a counter puncher or whatever he could really fuck people up. still reckon he belongs are 155 though. or even 145, he was hardly ripped as a lightweight.
