Lance Storm has left the ring for now, and starts at OVW May 2nd.

http://www.stormwrestling.com/042604.html

A lot of you have been wondering why I have been completely of the road and television the past few weeks; well this is your answer. I have been talking with the office about taking my career in a new direction for some time now. This actually dates back to before WrestleMania. I have been dissatisfied with my in ring career for quite a while. I have been lost in the quagmire for the better part of the year, with no direction, no focus, and quite frankly no forward motion. This isn’t anyone’s fault so much as it is a compilation of several factors. I have always wanted to be an important part of the product and I had come to the point where I was feeling that I could contribute more outside the ring than I have been inside it.

Very disappointing. But he's going to be a great trainer.

Oh for Christs sake. Put Storm in the fk'n tag division and don't give him any shitty gimmick. I mean, look at that division right now, it's horrible. Storm is one of those wrestlers, like Billy Gunn, who just seem to be made to wrestle in tag teams. Storm and Jericho down the line would of been great as Jericho is another one who is great in tag teams.

Well at least he'll get a push on TNA.

For everything he did for the fans as well as me on a personal level, I just hope he is happy. An absolute role model and a stand up guy until the end. :y:

Lance Storm = Another unsuspecting victim of Vinny Mac's hoss brigade's plan to take anyone under 275 lbs down, I'm very disapointed with this decision, Lance is a great wrestler sure his mic skills ain't great, but they are better than at least 75% of the current roster. As mentioned by LC Lance is a great tag worker one of the best on the roster today IMO. I'm having a hard time understanding why this has happened. Sure he will be great for the up and coming superstars of the future, but not now, He isnt finished with his own career yet why demote him to a spot that should only be taken up by the likes of Bob ButtPlugg Holly and Tiger Ali Singh.

WHY VINCE WHY???

If Lance Storm did steroids, he'd be the WWE champion. Sad state of affairs to say the least.

I'm not surprised. That's retarded. But, what are you gonna do... Alot of people don't care about Lance Storm.

Well if he isn't totally happy, worried about his back and considering his future, it's probably the best thing to do.

I like Lance Storm, it's a shame that we won't see him in the ring :(

I don't remember too many people caring about The Ringmaster. If you give people a reason to care then they will. Only Vince McMahon manages to hold back talent.

Maybe if he had some actual thing that somehow seperated him from everyone else, made him that little bit different then he'd be considered for the championship.

At least he went out in the Calgary Saddledome. If anyone watched Heat last night, the "Go, Lance, go!" cheers were deafening. I wouldn't be surprised is he had the biggest pop of the night.

Shit, Lance. :(

I've been a huge mark since his ECW days, and enjoyed everything he did from Japan (through tapes), ECW, WCW, and even WWE. Sad day to see someone so talented step down.

He's always been excellent with his fans (myself included through various emails), Just hope he ends up happy with whatever he does.

It is Lance's choice, he wants to become a WWE road agent, that's his choice. I do find it a bit disturbing that Lance Storm might get more air time as one, though. :-\

I think in some senarios, the WWE should just boost wrestlers up to the main show for two weeks at least, to try and push their current gimmicks, or to just give them a chance to show management their stuff. They had unlimited potential with Lance, but I guess both sides of the line agree he isn't going to be going anyway soon. There isn't any confirmation on this yet, so don't get too worried.

I'd rather he not be wrestling than get shat on like he has been. If he's happy being a trainer than so be it.

Um, those of you who are mad shouldn't be. After all, he cited injuries as a major reason. Better he be a trainer than get hurt. I for one would be ecstatic to have Lance as my trainer.

And think of all the pranks he can pull...

Benoit - Steroids
Lesnar - Steroids
Rock - Possible but I don't think so.
Austin - Possible. I'd guess yes
Taker - Big dude anyways
Kane - Big dude and steroids
Mick - Bump machine and cult following
Guerrero - steroids
Show - huge dude and Hogan's pal
HHH - steroids and bosses son in law
Michaels - Clean but right place at right time
Jericho - I'd guess clean.

Lance Storm would dwarf over Benoit, Jericho and Guerrero on gas and possibly Austin too. Size and talent would push him to the top.

I watched it. THe crowd went nuts and I wasn't sure why. The least they could have done was make his final match the main event. At least he won. I would have went on a shooting spree if he lost.

Yeah, I was thinking that they should've at least had that match on Raw. Or have Lance go over HHH or Shawn Michaels to the sheer delight of the Calgary crowd. Still, going out to thunderous applause isn't a bad way to go out at all.

Lance is awesome, but I don't know about that. The guy was a fantastic worker, but those are some top guys you're ranking him above (potentially with 'roids). With the right push he could have been a top heel in WWE, there's no doubt about that. It's a damn chance - along with so many others - have gone to waste.

I gotta hand it to Lance for stepping down, he knows when he's had enough bullshit. I wish him a speedy recovery, and the best of luck as a WWE Trainer or as an active wrestler in another fed.

This fu</>cking sucks.
I hear you.

Storm could be the WWE's second Benoit or Angle, but they never gave him a chance. Now that he's injured and dissatisfied, he's leaving the WWE with his last match being on fuc</>king Heat.

At least he's staying to be a trainer. Anyone from the Dungeon doing training in OVW is a good thing. :y:

Oh well. He's better off training the next generation of superstars at OVW than he is jobbing for jobbers (interesting concept) on Heat. I like to think of it as Storm continuing Stu Hart's training legacy in OVW.

His technical proficiency should make him an ideal trainer...

I'd probably say Benoit is better and possibly Guerrero but he is just as good as Jericho, if not better in the ring. Jericho just has a great charisma.

The man from Calgary is putting his in-ring wrestling career on the shelves, as a new opportunity comes up for the former Intercontinental champion.

Lance Storm announced his retirement on his official website at StormWrestling.com, saying that his match on Heat yesterday was probably his last one.

Storm says that back problems didn't help much either and with four bulging discs in his lower lumbar and a chronic problem with a sciatic nerve, the decision wasn't that hard to take.

Storm will assume the new position of a trainer at Ohio Valley Wrestling from now onwards after his request to be an agent wasn't completely welcomed!
