View Full Version : I had no idea about this (WWE Tag Team Championship)

After the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship was formed, I always thought the WWE made the World Tag Team Championship the dominant history. Those are the titles that have been in the WWE for years and years. Apparently the dominant history is actually the SmackDown! Tag Team Championship started in 2002. For some reason I found this surprising.

Which title history do you think should be dominant? Yeah, let's pretend the Tag Titles matter.

The dominant tag team titles should be the ones with the most history. period.

This is why I am against unifying titles, to be honest. While the World Tag Team Championship has the history, the WWE Tag Team Titles had more than its fair share of moments, too.

So I believe that means that Paul London & Brian Kendrick are the longest running WWE Tag Team Champions in history, still.

History should be kept on both titles. Unify the titles and add the following champions onto one of the histories and keep the other championship defunct.

I just assumed both histories were a part of it now.

Also, I haven't really paid attention to this, but do they still refer to them as the 'Unified Tag Team Championship', or simply the 'Tag Team Championship'? Because they should get rid of the 'unified' bit.

Maybe because Carlito and Primo were the WWE Tag Team Champions when they unified the tag team titles.

They just refer to the belts as the "WWE Tag Team Championships".

I think the most dominant history should have remained. That being the World Tag Team Championships. The same goes for the Diva's Championship. For some reason, the Diva's Championship remained, even though Michelle McCool was the Women's Champion when she won the unification match at Night of Champions last year.

I always thought with unification matches that the winning championship would remain, while the losing championship would be the one that would get unified with the winning title. So Michelle McCool still remains in her "historic" (If you want to call it that) position as the first ever champion, while the 54 year history of the Women's Championship just disappears.

It doesn't seem right, in a weird way. :-\

I'd rather have the shitty teams of today separated from the great tag teams of yesteryear. It's great that the title history is now only from the Smackdown-era tag team titles.

So, at least I don't have to see Santino and Kozlov on the same page I see the Hart Foundation, Bulldog and Owen, The Legion of Doom, The Steiner Brothers, The Quebeccers, Money Inc and Demolition.

I'd rather have it separated. Eagle belt was held by the champions of the past and so was the original WHC belt and of course the Women's title and tag team belts. Now we have the WWE spinner belt, the second WHC belt, the Diva's title and the new tag team titles. I haven't kept track of the US or IC titles and I'm too lazy to look it up so I'm not gonna mention them.

Dunno if they mentioned this on Raw, but Slater and Gabriel are tied for the most WWE Tag Team Championship reigns as a team ever.
