It seems like everything is a go. They have a script and budget... all they need is Bill Murray apparently: http://www.popeater.com/2011/02/22/ashton-kutcher-ghostbusters-3/

With the special effects available today, I wouldn't mind seeing it, especially if they bring back Vigo and the Slime in some way.

I like the idea of "recruits" as well. Craig Robinson would be hilarious in one of those roles... not sure about Ashton though.

BIll has to be in this, I mean come on he made a reference to the movie in Zombieland so he must get the green light going :)

Starting to hope this doesn't happen.

I think Bill Murray is happy just doing those small budget offbeat indie films.

Probably just has this script in the bog, reads a page every time he goes for a shit, no real interest in doing it.

And the occasional Ghostbusters tie in, so he only seems to have problems with cash-ins when it suits him.

But it's really his concern with the franchise.

Honest.

Come on, guys, Murray's a hero.

I agree with Xero. Ghostbusters doesn't need another sequel. Leave it alone.

The game was more than enough for me, and you had the original actors, so it made it that much better.

Few movies need a sequel. So what?

Honestly I want this movie to be made and after all these years it can't be any worse than the 2nd one was.

We don't need this movie.

I could've sworn that Murray said he'd only do this if he gets to die near the start of the movie?

Either way, I don't think this movie should be made. If it is made, then at least change the title to The New Ghostbusters or something. Especially if Ashton Kutcher is going to be part of the cast.

I like the 2nd one. If only for VIGO THE CARPATHIAN.

I'd like to see the movie. The game was not enough for me. Mainly because I did not play it or ever have plans to, so it is pretty irrelevant.

OMG THEY ADDED ONE GUY THE MOVIE IS UNRECOGNISABLE!

:wtf:

Murray's said a lot of things. At one point, he was holding out because they didn't want to bring the actor who played Winston back.

Few movies need a sequel. So what?

Here's a good example:
Terminator 2. Movie should have ended right there. But no. And what did we get? Fucking Terminator 3.

Maybe I personally don't want to see Ghostbusters get the same shit-treatment?

By the same stretch, Terminator. Movie should have ended right there. What did we get? Terminator 2.

Maybe operating from the assumption of "shit treatment" is stupid?

Especially considering the people involved had a lot to do with the original, completely unlike Terminator 3?

Or Ghostbusters 2 was hardly Terminator 2?

Or the game that took its cues from a prior proposed script was well received?

Go on. Explain how your example bears out yoru concerns at all, and isn't stupid as all fuck.

I don't think he is mad because they are bringing in a new guy. I think he is mad because the new guy is Ashton Kutcher. Who is, to be fair, quite terrible.

Murray could sodomize a drugged out pre-teen and I'd give him a pass.

Nobody's terrible enough to justify the YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE NAME mentality. Well, no one person.

I'm not saying I'm doing the Charleston over the prospect of Ashton Kutcher being involved, but seriously. Let's not be ridiculous.

Again. You mean "Murray could sodomize a drugged out pre-teen again and I'd give him a pass."

I don't know. Bill Murray's made so many excuses at this point, it's just lame. "Oh, I don't like sequels...Why yes, I'll do another Garfield movie!" "They won't treat the franchise with respect....What, you want me to be in a Get Smart movie with Steve Carell and the Rock? Sign me up!" "Ernie Hudson isn't involv...You got him? Jesus, what other excuse can I pull out of my ass?"

I'm just saying that I don't think GB really needs another sequel. I could see a remake, but not another movie.

And don't get me wrong. I absolutely love the Ghostbusters films. Ghostbusters was the third movie I bought on blu-ray. I woke up every Saturday morning and watched "The Real Ghostbusters." Ghostbusters 2 was the first movie I'd ever watched in a theater. I had the action figures and the ecto toy. I had the proton-pack and the ghost trap toys when I was a kid too. So maybe I just don't want another sequel just to see something that was important to me in my childhood potentially fucking suck? And for the record, I played and beat the video game. Loved it.

I want it made. If it sucks, it sucks. I'd like to find out first hand, personally. I've wanted to see Ghostbusters 3 my whole life.

The idea of sequels destroying classics is stupid at this point. It's been proven that they just don't. They might piss off, or disappoint, but in the end, the classic is still every bit as great. Maybe even better.

If Ghostbusters 3 comes out, and the fans hate it, what do you have? You have 1 or 2 Ghostbusters movies that you love and enjoy. If you're really a fan, it doesn't matter.
And that's the worst case scenario. The movie could very well be incredible, or at least decent.

Just fucking do it already.

I'd also rather see a horrible sequel than a competent remake, tbh.

LOL. Why do people shit on Ghostbuster's 2 so much? It was fucking great. The river of slime montage.... the statue of liberty busting out to Jackie Wilson.... VIGO!!! That shit was classic.

Do people really think Gozer the Traveler was better than VIGO!?!?

Bobby Brown and Heavy D were on the soundtrack for Christ's sake. What the fuck more do you people want?

Ghostbusters 2 was great, until the end. It was anti-climactic...Vigo should have been more of a badass.

A full sequel to Ghostbusters The Video Game would be better, with a decent playable character as opposed to a mute proton stream thrower.

This has been in development hell for a long time....I hope it gets done before I die.
