James Franco likes jobs.

Nark Order
02-27-2011, 08:20 PM
I have this odd feeling that Annette Bening is going to win best actress but it should probably go to Natalie Portman or Michelle Williams. They've been really shoving this "The Kids Aren't Alright" thing down everybody's throats.

Blitz
02-27-2011, 08:29 PM
Nah Portman will win. Though if anyone is gonna upset, it would be Bening.

Blitz
02-27-2011, 08:58 PM
Kirk Douglas may have just gone into senility on stage, live.

Nark Order
02-27-2011, 08:58 PM
I'm sorry, get that fucking guy off the stage.

Seth82
02-27-2011, 09:05 PM
whose bright idea was it to let that old fossil Kirk Douglas on stage

He can't even talk right after the stroke

thedamndest
02-27-2011, 09:16 PM
Aaron Sorkin does not care about your get off the stage music.

RoXer

@normmacdonald so massive strokes have no effect on comic timing

Nark Order

I'm assuming that this is the first phase of the King's Speech ball massaging plan.

Any David Otunga sightings?

mitch_h

I want to ask Aaron Sorkin about where he buys his glasses. I have a feeling he would be like Jake Jarmell and be really protective about it

thedamndest
02-27-2011, 09:24 PM
If he had anymore time he probably would have thanked his glasses guy.

Watching the Oscars. Not crazy about the womb Natalie Portman's baby chose to wear.

How cool would it be if Justin Beiber popped his head out of Bale's beard and gave the acceptance speech?

Stately British costume drama wins a bunch of awards. What a shocker.

Nark Order
02-27-2011, 11:47 PM
Let's all go watch that 2 hour movie about a guy with a speech impediment.

Blitz
02-27-2011, 11:48 PM
In all fairness, The King's Speech is quite a good film. Did not to deserve to win over some of the other nominees, though.

BigDaddyCool
02-27-2011, 11:53 PM
Kings Speech is boring. The academy is boring.

Seth82
02-27-2011, 11:58 PM
Kings Speech looks beyond boring

plus I've been told it's got several factual inacuracies

BigDaddyCool
02-28-2011, 12:05 AM
At least this time around there were more movies I wanted to see being nominated than last year.

SlickyTrickyDamon
02-28-2011, 12:12 AM
Why is The Social Network so popular for being an unoffical biopic. Those books are usually just made for tv movie materials.

Raven Reaper
02-28-2011, 04:46 AM
On the bright side, Trent Reznor won for best scor and Natalie Portman best actress for Black Swan.

I was betting on either Black Swan or Inception for Best Picture.

Fiction? In a movie? Yer joshin' me.

That's not a bright side. Fuck Trent Reznor and his piece of shit music.

I really find it awkward that Toy Story 3 was also best picture nominated aside from the other sub categories it had... Very rare for a CGI cartoon to be on the fore front of Oscars.

Seth82
02-28-2011, 07:20 AM
Fiction? In a movie? Yer joshin' me.

yeah I know

but most people who go see it assume its the truth when its not all truth

thats why I guess I never liked alot of biopics

BigDaddyCool
02-28-2011, 09:56 AM
I really find it awkward that Toy Story 3 was also best picture nominated aside from the other sub categories it had... Very rare for a CGI cartoon to be on the fore front of Oscars.

They expanded the best movie category to include a more diverse group of movies that don't have a chance of winning.

wwe2222
02-28-2011, 10:40 AM
Kings Speech was a great film and Toy Story had every right to be included as part of the 10 Best Picture nominees.

BigDaddyCool
02-28-2011, 10:45 AM
I didn't say Toy Story didn't deserve to be their, it just had no chance of winning because it is a "cartoon for kids."

Lock Jaw
02-28-2011, 01:24 PM
At least it won the "Give Pixar an Award" category. Er, I mean "Best Animated Film" category.

Sixx
02-28-2011, 01:33 PM
Was it the first or second Pixar movie nominated for Best Movie Award?

I don't really remember, but I think "Up" got nominated, too?

Lock Jaw
02-28-2011, 01:48 PM
They were indeed nominated for Up last year. Had to fill those extra nomination spots with something.

BigDaddyCool
02-28-2011, 01:58 PM
You kinda know what movie is going to win best animated movie award when only one of the nominated movies of that category is also nominated for best movie.

Lock Jaw
02-28-2011, 03:11 PM
Yeah. Kinda ridiculous. That's what happens with the new 10 best picture nominations, though.

BigDaddyCool
02-28-2011, 03:25 PM
There is no point in expanding the category for 10 pictures when you know they are still going to pick the same kinds of movies year after year.

dronepool
02-28-2011, 03:41 PM
I never really held a high value in the Oscars but its nice that Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won. The score was better than the movie, which was average and overrated.

Kapoutman
02-28-2011, 04:09 PM
In the newspaper here everybody had a hard-on for The Social Network, predicting it would win best movie. Am I the only one who didn't like the movie?

Haven't seen The King's Speech though, so I can't comment on that one.

Lock Jaw
02-28-2011, 04:16 PM
People here are saying that The King's Speech was pretty much created in the mindset of being "Oscar Bait" to win an Oscar.

Seth82
02-28-2011, 05:01 PM
I do think Colin Firth deserved to win

He is a helluva great actor and is finally being seen as a top star
