So I'm watching the entire Raw and PPV run of 1998 and the biggest thing I've notice between then and now is the amount of feuds and storylines there were for the midcarders and even lower midcarders. Steve Blackman was feuding with both The Nation and Jeff Jarrett, Ken Shamrock was feuding with both the Nation and Dan Severn, The Rock was feuding with Faarooq and Ken Shamrock, for a while NAO was feding both with Cactus Jack/Chainsaw Charlie and LOD. It's just amazing how many simultaneous storylines they were running on one show. It made everything much easier to get invested in as everyone had a story, a reason for being there
I don't fully want them to go back to 1998 style booking, the in ring product is hell of a lot better these days but I wish they'd give some of the midcarders more feuds more stories.

I agree. It kind of bothers me that you have shows like Superstars, but there's very rarely a storyline happening there. Why the fuck not? What would it hurt? It might even help some guys.

* Chris Masters b. Curt Hawkins with the Master Lock. After the match, Tyler Reks came out and attacked Masters.
IT'S HAPPENING.

Yea this was always one of my favorite parts of the WWF back then. The inter-twined feuds.
Stables helped that. The way The Corporation had beef with Austin, Foley, DX, and a few others was great. Especially when the storylines crossed paths.
I think over the past 6 months there has been a lot more of this in the current product. Not nearly as much, but some. Hopefully it keeps up and increases.

They're still dropping the ball on it though.I'll give you a prime example, Barrett and Punk were this 1998, Barrett and Punk would be feuding with each other, feuding with John Cena, Feuding with Randy Orton all at the same time. Instead look how it went with Punk, he kicked Barrett out, Nexus and Corre had one or two clashes but it's largely unspoken about, then he went on to fued with Cena and that's all been mostly forgotten about now he's feduing with Orton. Barrett's similar he's feuding with Show no mention of CM Punk or new nexus at all.

Indeed. It's also the time of year where the feuds become more well defined and focused than any other time of year.

The first thing that came to mind was the sound of Billy getting hit in the face by a trash can Austin threw (part 3).

I'm surprised the smarks who used to want straight wrestling are bitching about a lack of storylines on a show.

Yeah, you get the since that now they don't remember for more than a couple of weeks, while back then they seemed to only have make shift alliances with the matra the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Now they seem to forget that they just feuded with this guy 2 months ago but he had a face turn and they can be buddy buddy.
