As much as Edge was more my time, watching old footage, Jake just knows the system and how to get a reaction from the smallest of things.

While Edge may have reached a larger amount of popularity than Jake had, I don't think he measures up quite the same in terms of ability and showmanship, though it might be only a matter of time before he does.

So in the meantime I'll be giving my vote to the Snake.

Snake deserves This hall of fame since he will never be in the WWE Hall Of Fame people

I vote Edge. I think both men are kinda overrated by the IWC. I still like both, though. I give it to Edge just because Roberts probably should not have beaten some of the people he did to get here.

In my opinion, Jake shouldn't have beaten AA but Jake should beat Edge.

Jake's worthy of the Hall anyway

Went with Jake but Edge still at least has some more time left in his career to do more potentially great feuds and matches which could put him over Jake in the great wrestlers list.

Both were great with promos but Edge was much better dealing with a variety of character types for his promos. Both had great feuds and matches but Jake Roberts had a bit more quality in his singles feuds.

The negatives with both wrestlers would be Jake Roberts lucked out badly with no WWF title reigns or time to carry a division/company while Edge gets very flat as a face quicker than as a tweener or heel.

Well, let me explain myself here so I don't come off like a huge shithead. Edge is extremely understated as a great in the attitude era and in this power era we've been in as well. He can do comedy, he can do drama, he can pull well written angles off to a T, he can make shoddily written angles look legitimate, he can interact with any type of wacky character on-screen and make it look good, he can work a spot fest, he can work a technical wrestling showcase, and his drive to succeed is through the roof.

That said, he isn't Jake. I might come off a little biased as I grew up knowing that Jake and Savage were the two greatest wrestlers of all time; a thought that I still have to this day. To compare... Jake never had the drive that Edge has, he rarely completely obsessed himself with angles or individual matches, he didn't meticulously script his promos, and he often let his personal life interfere with his professional life. He was just just intelligent and extremely good at what he did. He knew how to captivate people one night and make them want to slit his throat the next. Nobody ever mastered the face/heel dynamic the way that Jake did and I'm not sure anybody ever will again. When a typical heel cut a promo, it made you not like that person. When Jake cut a heel promo, it made you uncomfortable to think that a man like that could actually exist. When a typical face cut a promo, it made you rally behind that person. When Jake cut a face promo, it made you want to physically leave your house and fight by his side. Jake just knew people, maybe a little too well. He knew what their reactions would be to almost every situation imaginable and it made him a master crowd manipulator. Not just in promos, but in the ring as well.

Hope this helps somewhat.

Jake was really something special on the mic. He is the master of an art that has been lost in the modern world of "sports entertainment".

Narc, how can you not understand how this is close? I don't think it's a matter of age at all. It's just a matter of how much Edge has accomplished as well as Jake.
It seems like just yesterday that Edge was an up and coming rookie, but seriously, look at what he's been a part of, both tag and singles.
I think he has every right to beat Jake and Arn types, or at the very least put up an argument.

Yes, I know wrestling isn't "real", but take a look at Edge's accomplishments:

WHC - 7 Times
WWE Champ - 4 Times
IC Champ - 5 Times
US Champ - 1 Time
World Tag Team - 12 Times
WWE Tag Team - 2 Times

Plus throw in King of The Ring, Royal Rumble, Money In The Bank wins and closing WrestleMania, I'd say he's had a pretty decent career.

Not saying Jake isn't a deserving winner here though.

And Edge is definetly at his best as a heel. His stuff with Lita a few years back was golden.
