So I was bored and started watching old WCW YouTube videos and I came across the match from New Blood Rising where Goldberg was about to be powerbombed and then walked out of the match. Russian then came out and ordered him into the ring. He told him to fuck off and left. The next night on nitro Russo went off on Goldberg for it. Then WCW started pushing the whole "no script just fight" angle...... my questions is what the hell actually happened? Was Goldberg supposed to win the triple threat? Was he not supposed to be jacknifed?.......Im just curious cause I know Russo is a piece of shit and Goldberg is a big baby. But what happened here?

Really? Wow..... with the negative feelings Goldberg talks about towards Russo in interviews and stuff I figured he tried to pull a screwjob or something. Huh..... dumb ol' WCW strikes again

Yeah, I believe it was a play off of their real-life problems.
Russo booking ass-backwards and whatnot, but Big Baby Bill wanting to go over on everyone, everytime. They are both in the wrong, but nonetheless their backstage bullshit spilled out onto TV in angle.
The commentary had to sell it like a shoot, the problem is how do they do that without practically saying 'wrestling is fake, wat just happened was real'. So Schiavone came out w/ some crap about Goldberg 'deviating from the script'.
Russo was so fkin dumb sometimes.

This stuff was pretty common during Russo's last run. He seemed to have the idea that all the fans were smarks so he had to keep doing worked shoots or he would be insulting their intelligence.

Read in the death of WCW that he did so many worked shoots that the boys in the back treated everything as a work, even the sale of WCW. Sure he did shit like that backstage even if the cameras werent on.

Yeah, you can't keep everyone in the dark all the time like he did. After a bit they quit caring and "know" everything is going to be switched around and nothing matters anymore.

Russo's approach to bringing a sense of 'realism' to the product ended up dis-crediting it.
Just because many wrestling fans know it is a show doesn't mean they want the show to admit it. I think it was just terrible.
Russo has ruined so many creative opportunities. It is almost like he does it on purpose.
