View Full Version : Saints Row the Third

So, assuming the fuckers don't cock tease us again, it's due out for Q4. We're finally getting some information at this point, though scarce. In an interview with the senior producer, we got a couple of tidbits:

Despite the Saints Row series' rather tongue-in-cheek, cartoonish violence, Donovan said that some of the ideas that people came up with went further than Volition was willing to go. As an example, he described one weapon that won't be appearing in the game: the fart in a jar grenade. The idea was that the jar contained flatulence so terrible that anyone caught in the blast would be too busy vomiting to engage in combat. Apparently, some of the team liked the concept, but others weren't so keen, so Volition decided to scrap it.

Donovan said that other suggestions that people had come up with were so bad that he didn't even want to repeat them, which is quite remarkable when you consider how violent and/or over the top some of Saints Row 2 was. While it won't be as bad as it could have been, THQ is boasting that Saints Row: The Third will feature some of the most "outlandish gameplay scenarios" around. Some of the things that the game does include are skydiving with tanks, airstrikes on Mexican gangs, and fighting off military personnel with a sex toy.

Air Strikes on Mexicans? Juan's days are numbered. Dildo weapons? Meh. Tank Skydiving? Epic.

No "fart in a jar" grenade? Thank GOD.

i feel "cautiously optimistic" sums up how i feel about this game. really like SR2, i just hope the 3rd has more varied/interesting missions and the humour doesn't get any dumber than it was.

Game Informer has a few more details about the game:

1) No multiplayer so that the team can focus on a stronger co-op and solo gameplay.
2) Weapons can be customized in a lot of ways and some even silly/comical.
3) RC gun lets you shoot at cars and then control them like an RC toy car.
4) Experience system similar to GTA San Andreas that lets you eat, get fat, and change your physical appearance more.

I am hoping for a driving system between GTA IV and SR 2. GTA IV was too sensitive, and in SR 2, the handling was so tight that it just didn't feel right. The cars had no "weight" to them, like in GTA IV.

Most of the time I liked that. It was like those bad 80s movies where you could fly all over the road and shit.

Then you get into a mission where you need to face off against a rival gang, and you get punted to the moon while driving a fucking BEAR.

Even the cops usually aren't that bad.

I liked how you could customize your character and everything, one thing I didnt enjoy in the sligtest was the driving.

Edit: I see the conversation turned to the above. Honestly mix San Andreas driving with GTA IV braking and you have win.

IGN:

Years after taking Stilwater for their own, the Third Street Saints have evolved from street gang to household brand name, with Saints sneakers, Saints energy drinks and Johnny Gat bobble head dolls all available at a store near you. The Saints are kings of Stilwater, but their celebrity status has not gone unnoticed. The Syndicate, a legendary criminal fraternity with pawns in play all over the globe, has turned its eye on the Saints and demands tribute.

Refusing to kneel to the Syndicate, you take the fight to a new city, playing out the most outlandish gameplay scenarios ever seen in Saints Row: The Third, the third chapter in the blockbuster open-city action series. Strap it on.

No "fart in a jar" grenade? Thank GOD.

A while ago, we posted details about Saints Row: The Third's censoring process (http://www.destructoid.com/saints-row-the-third-won-t-have-a-fart-in-a-jar-196025.phtml), in which Volition revealed that it had decided against using a particularly unique weapon. That weapon was the FART IN A JAR, which would be wielded like a grenade and would cause victims to vomit uncontrollably.

Obviously, the censorship of this weapon goes against everything Saints Row stands for, and offends the souls of good boys and girls who grew up believing in America. Fortunately, Volition has heard the cries of the jaded, and is offering fans a deal -- kick up enough of a stink, and the jarred farts will make their way to Saints Row: The Third.

All you have to do is reply to the @SaintsRow Twitter account (http://twitter.com/saintsrow), registering your interest in the gaseous grenade and making sure to use the #fartinajar tag. If we cry out with gusto and conviction, we may well see justice served.

Obviously this is the most important cause ever, so don't delay!

Pretty sure it's gonna make it in now.

Okay, here's my mini-review of San Andreas:

As a pure sandbox game it was great, and at the time was the best to offer for me. You could only play as one character but, due to the eating/exercise system and GTA's costume selection you could change it up quite nicely. That said, I found exercising and constantly eating to be a chore. Spent way too much time swimming and hitting the gym (not saying it was a horrible way to have people invest in the character, just wish they had a better balance) in a game where I wanted to destroy/interact with the world while not being too constrained by the "rules". I did love the gang territory system, however which made up for a lot of it.

Also, the story didn't fit with the cast of characters. Hated all the flying missions. Hated the ending. Also thought they didn't know where they wanted to go with the story (ie. Casino mission). Seems kind of dumb to follow a casino robbery with hunting down a crack-head. Just me?

I don't know about you, but I'm starting to get pretty tired of how serious games are these days. Videogames are a portal to do stuff you'd never be able to do in real life, yet most games out there try to capture realistic experiences. Even games that appear like they will be goofy keep adhering to a degree of realism.
Volition seems to share my feelings -- from day one of the development of Saints Row: The Third, their goal was to "create the most ridiculous, over-the-top, guilty-pleasure experience ever found in a videogame." I got a small, hands-off taste of what the next Saints Row game is all about, and it's easy to see that Volition is making good on that.
In fact, one of the first things I witnessed in Saints Row: The Thirdwas the main character hitting pedestrians with a giant, floppy, purple baseball bat dildo. Yeah, that happened.

Saints Row: The Third (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC)
Developer: Volition
Publisher: THQ
To be released: November 15, 2011
You are the leader of the Saints gang and you can fully customize your character to be whatever you want him or her to be. The Saints are at the top of their game and are celebrities in the city of Steelport. They are a branded image that people love and adore. Citizens clamor to get a Saints autograph, even when the gang is robbing a bank!
[Update: The article initial stated that Johnny Gat was the leader. This was a mistake and has been corrected above.]
The gang's notoriety gives the player access to powerful weapons right from the start. You'll of course have at your disposal the traditional assortment of firepower, but why shoot a gun when you can wear giant over-sized boxing gloves called "Apoca-fist" that instantly vaporize anyone you punch?
http://bulk.destructoid.com/ul/201736-preview-saints-row-the-third/SR3_VTOL_Flyby-620x.jpg
Everything you do will have some sense of style to it, too. For instance, breaking into a car the regular way is replaced by a window-shattering jumping karate kick. Speaking of which, the core mechanic of the driving experience has been completely overhauled. Car handling is a lot more fast, fluid and fun, and leaves you open to doing some insane stunts in the open-world setting.
There are some outlandish cars, too, such as one that features the giant head of Johnny Gaton the hoodsmoking a cigarette that shoots out flames. Then there's Professor Genki’s Super Ballistic Manapult, which features a giant cannon on the roof that can suck up people (or even yourself) and then shoot them out.
Flying vehicles will be a big part of the game, as well, and we saw many different types of helicopters. The coolest air vehicle was the Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Jet, which can seamlessly switch from hover to jet mode in an instant. It also lets you shoot missiles and laser beams. LASER BEAMS! So cool.
http://bulk.destructoid.com/ul/201736-preview-saints-row-the-third/SR3_BankGatHeads-620x.jpg
One final feature we were shown before getting into the meat of the game was how you can buy businesses. The Saints are out to take over and spread their territory in the gang, and purchasing a business is one way to do it. The particular business that was bought in this instance was the "Let's Pretend" costume store, where you can change your outfit and wear whatever you want.
After showing off some of the new tech, Volition started up the first mission of the game, which also acts as a tutorial for the player. The Saints are attempting to rob a bank, which is usually a pretty easy job for them. In this particular instance, though, the bank puts up heavy resistance and fights back. Unbeknownst to them, the bank is owned by the Syndicate, the main antagonist in Saints Row: The Third.
This little setback doesn't stop the Saints; they start taking out any resistance in their way. Oh, did I mention that all the Saints are wearing disguises, including a giant bobblehead-face-helmet-thing that makes them look like Johnny Gat? Because that totally happened.
http://bulk.destructoid.com/ul/201736-preview-saints-row-the-third/SR3_MeleeBrute_02-620x.jpg
The gang reach the bank's vault only, to discover they can't open it. So they go with plan B and blow up the walls surrounding the vault in order to allow easy access for a Saints helicopter to lift the gigantic safe away. That plan turn to shit, though as Josh Birk, a ride-along Method actor set to star in a Saints movie, activates the security alarm by mistake.
A SWAT team quickly arrives on the scene, and the Saints hold off the police until their escape chopper arrives. Once the helicopter shows up, the player hooks up the vault to it and stands on top of the vault as the helicopter attempts to pull it out. They don't get too far from the bank, as multiple waves of police helicopters and attack copters eventually cause the player to get knocked back into the bank, surrounded by SWAT.
You can expect missions to be pretty ridiculous like this throughoutSaints Row: The Third. Volition wanted to create memorable set-pieces for the missions. You can expect lots of side missions, too, both old and new. The one Volition showed off to the press was called "Tank Mayhem" and you have to blow up stuff with a tank until you reach a specific monetary damage goal. Another side mission that was teased is called "Professor Genki's Super Ethical Reality Climax Show." Sounds like fun times right there.
We'll be seeing more of Saints Row: The Third at E3 next week and I can't wait. I'm definitely looking forward to more Saints goodness, and yes, expect co-op madness again.

THQ revealed more details with the main bad guy appearing around the 2nd mission and the main gang being called The Syndicate who want about 66% of everything the Saints own in terms of profits.

Also revealed was something called a "Man-Canon" (Professor Genki's Man-a-pult):
This demented looking car features a fiendishly grinning cat on the front grill that actually sucks up random pedestrians and enemies, and immediately inserts them into an up-top cannon that can be used to both attack foes or just send bodies flying for no particularly good reason. Those launched skyward tend to hit with a resounding splat, making this the perfect way to explain to your child why a career in the circus is probably not a great idea.

Video of the actual car is inside the link along with details of how crazy the 2nd mission is.

Saints Row: The Third is already looking pretty crazy, and it needs some sexy lost wrestler voice talent to match that. So it makes sense that Sasha Grey, Hulk Hogan, and Daniel Day Kim will portray key characters in the upcoming open world game with jets that shoot lasers and homing missiles.

Sasha Grey (you know what you know her from) will be playing Viola DeWynter who, together with her twin sister Kiki, runs the Syndicate's financial empire as one part of the DeWynter sisters.

Hulk Hogan will be voicing Angel De LaMuerte, who unsurprisingly is a professional wrestler. De LaMuerte got backstabbed by his former tag-team partner Killbane, who became the leader of the Lucadores gang, and teams up with the Saints to get his revenge.

Daniel Dae Kim (LOST, that Hawaii 5-0 reboot with Boomer in it) returns to Saints Row to reprise his role as Johnny Gat, chief lieutenant of the Third Street Saints, who is now an international celebrity and drives a car named the Johnny Gat-mobile. Amazing.

Still waiting on some negative news. This is all too amazing.

Are the first 2 games worth picking up? Quite tempted to play them before this one comes out.

First one's good. Second one is fucking GREAT. Best with a partner, but not required. What made the second one great is it's crazy. Something The Third will be updating.

The first was less insane. Less focused on wild fun. Less batshit crazy. It still had fun in it, but it's more like looking at a prototype than a straight up awesome game.

And Volition knew this. That's why the ads played up the crazy shit you can do. Like side games where you spray sewage and dress up as cops so you can beat people down on TV.

The graphics are inferior to the GTA alternative, but the fun is awesome. Nothing better than unlocking all the cheats, too. Unlock no fall damage and then suicide diving pedestrians from helicopters. Unlimited ammo for various weapons is also mad fun.

None of them completely make you invincible. You don't get infinite health. You get faster health regen if you're not getting shot. You still have to not get shot, which is doable. You still have to reload your weapons; you merely run out of ammo. Suicide dives will stop you for a moment, so they're not necessarily an escape.

But seriously. BLOWING SHIT UP FTW. Especially when you try and see how much airtime your buddy can get off the gas station he's driving into. Which you've just loaded with C4.

Plus....Lots of vehicles, which handle like a sandbox game should, boats planes and helicopters, fun character customisation to an insane degree, and a story that doesn't take itself too seriously. It knows it's part of a sandbox and doesn't try and nag you.

The good thing about this is, even though all three SR games ostensibly follow the same character, they're story light enough that you don't really need to know the prior title's story.

Saints Row 1: You get recruited into the second street saints, wreck shit, and build up the empire until you are betrayed.

Saints Row 2: You wake up in the hospital ward of a prison after a chunk of time in a coma. In your absence, the Saints went defunct, and three new gangs and Ultor (yes, that Ultor) have taken over. Wreck shit, own city, rinse, repeat.

Saints Row 3: apparently, you own the city so hard you have to go elsewhere for a good fight. Stilwater out, Steelport in, 3 new gangs, syndicate, wreck shit, own city.

I really hope they do more successors to Saints Row, but I'm glad this one appears to be the close on this specific set of characters. I like Chaundi, Pierce and Gatt, mind. Just...Short of owning the US, there's not much else to do.

Though that might be the best sandbox ever.

Rumored list of DLC with co-op and cheats both rumored to be paying modes. It is also possible the rumored DLC sets would be free for new owners using an Online Pass while used owners would only be the ones to pay for them.

Co-Op Pack

Sometimes all it takes is a friend at your back to help you through the toughest situations. With the Co-Op Pack you can do just that. Play entirely through Saints Row: The Third with your co-op partner and together help the Saints climb once more to the top.

Bloodsucker Pack

Keep the cash flowin' with the Bloodsucker Pack. You'll earn respect and get cash bonuses but it doesn't stop there! You also get payments, money drop, and the ability to regain health through your human shields with The Dracula skill.

Explosive Combat Pack

Throw on your combat gear and add a weapon to your arsenal with the Explosive Combat Pack. The M2 Grenade Launcher sends a plethora of mass explosions right at your enemy, and the Future Soldier Outfit is perfect for any battle.

[NOT SURE]

Go super ballistic with the FunTime! Pack which gives you a new weapon, vehicle, and outfit. Terrorize your enemies by sucking them up and shooting them out with the Genki Man-A-Pult! Pull the trigger on the Mollusk Launcher and unleash the power of an exploding, mind-controlling octopus! And make sure you put on your FunTime! Outfit, because who doesn't want to look like Professor Genki!

Invincible Pack

More cheats than you'll know what to do with. Never worry about dying or running out of ammo! Experience the thrill of Zero Gravity and unlock the Get Down Cheat that makes you ultra limber. The top off your full Nyte Blayde experience by zipping around town on the Bloody Cannoness Bike!

Shark Attack Pack

Add to your wardrobe and weapon cache with the Shark Attack Pack. The Shark-O-Matic shoots out a steady stream of slimy fish guts, attracting whatever may lurk under the streets of Steelport. And if that isn't enough, the Shark Bite Hat allows you to experience the feeling of being caught in the jaws of a great white.

Special Ops Vehicle Pack

A collection of fully equipped military vehicles for your garage. The Saints VTOL features jet and hover modes making airborne attacks easy and stylish. The Saints Tank and Saints MRAP are the ultimate in armored warfare, showing your opponents the Saints aren't to be messed with.

Steelport Gangs Pack

Been considering picking up Saints Row 2 but just have a quick question. How strict or lenient is the wanted system in the game in terms of free roaming or goofing off and not playing missions?

Is it like GTA where if you accidentally crash into a police car, that automatically gets 1 star or wanted level or hit a few people and it goes up regardless if there were police around?

I know in older GTA games 2 stars and above would have aggressive cops chasing but they reduced the cops going all out on a 2 star level in GTA IV.

Used gaming isn't even a problem, except from the point of view of MINE! They've pretty much maximised profit and demand more. So now they're trying to milk desperately any other source.

It's pretty similar to GTA. Been so long since I played I'm not sure about hitting a cop car, but you do have some leniency before you get one star. The first star goes down pretty quick, too. Funky might know specifics.

It's much more lenient than GTA. The only things I'd say GTA IV has over SR2, is graphics, and it's cover systems. Then again, some people don't even like cover systems, so that doesn't even count. Personal preference really.

http://www.screwattack.com/news/forty-weeks-dlc-new-saints-row

That sort of sounds like BS to me. Honestly, this isn't, "Hey, let's add some extra stuff in as DLC." This is more like "Oh, hey, good idea... Nah, don't put it in the game, wait and sell it to them a week after it comes out." Seriously, 40 weeks worth? I'm curious to see what that DLC includes, and how much could have/should have been included initially.

Emperor Smeat
09-10-2011, 06:23 PM
Probably going to be very similar to what Capcom or Bethesda does with DLC content in being mostly new costumes, colors, and weapons/cars.

It is briefly referenced in the article but THQ already did something similar with MX vs ATV although they charged that game at a discount price and then had the DLC cover everything else. It ended up being a huge mistake and might have killed off the series due to all the stuff lacking in comparison to other racing games.

Honestly, we don't know how much content is on the disc already. I'm gonna hold off and wait until the DLC drops before crucifying them. And then probably crucify them, because it'll probably be shit, but....

I'm wondering if there will be a code for new purchases that allows the later stuff. They did say combating the overall volume of used games. I mean, they could be retarded enough to think making us spend 80 more bucks or adding just clothing packs and small items will keep us paying, but MAYBE they have a clue.

The DLC pricing for the last game was kind of weird, with the first one being overly expensive for its content, the second being much beefier for a lower price point, and the last one being a free clothing pack (With a bunch of stuff).

One of the things I've had my fingers crossed for on this game is that they would have finally figured it out.

I like the vow of "continued support through DLC." This sounds a little too much like a marketing ploy rather than real support tho.

Saints Row Initiation Station demo is available. You can download it to XBox 360 and I think PS3 with instructions on Saintsrow.com . You can create your character, upload it to your SR account, and make ' em public. You can then download any character made public.

There's less customisation in this one, it's obvious from the creator. I'm assuming more clothing options will open up in-game, but you can't do layers anymore, you're you're limited to a single top, bottom, etc.

Within that, there ARE a lot of choices, and most of them look good. And holy shit, I'm making a Steampunk character next time I boot it up.

It's a bit of a shame, but I'm still psyched.

Joystick has speculated this might have been the current "Whored Mode" that was announced to be in all versions.

the reason given was that Volition and THQ never reached an agreement on what the mode should be. It was also explicitly said to be something involving the dildo weapon, so they had something in mind. Don't know about "whored mode," but if it focuses on the dildo weapon, then probably.

one thing readily apparent is that a lot of the old flaws and glitches are back. Now I know what it must be like to be a Bethesda fanboy, because you can still see a lot of the flaws from the first two.

I found myself slipping into a crack and falling into an area I can't escape, respawning and falling into the same crack again. There's a lot of bugs in co-op, where I or my partner would find ourselves, for example, suddenly outside of the car we were both driving, or (once) halfway across the city. And a minor niggle, but the GPS still does that thing where the GPS will stick as though you're in an aircraft/boat (Don't know if the boat thing's still in, but the heli/plane half is). toggling it seems to fix it, but it's still there. There's a lot of pop-in, and some of it's pretty bad.

Also, this may be my connection with my Co-Op Partner In Crime, but the lag was so bad that he (host) was killing people in the Guardian Angel mission because they even showed up on mine. Was useless until the sniping part, which is ironic, because I'm usually useless in the sniping parts.

We multiplayer a lot together, and I don't remember ever seeing something that bad.

Still, I love this game so hard I could fuck it 'til the disc cracked, so the flaws don't really detract me. It's just...Weird.

Captain of Fun

Quite possibly.

I've actually only come to encounter one bug when playing single player, now that you mention it. Well, two. There's this weird "teleport during holdups" thing that happened to me since I made the above list.

Also, love the fact I got an acheivement for running a male character and a female character.

Also, in case you missed it, there's a season pass up on Xbox Marketplace (probably Sony's too, but I don't care enough to look). Looks like the idea of a lot of DLC that was suggested by Giant Bomb really is true.

Not entirely sure how I feel about this, to be honest.

The cheats pack looks pretty cool. Imay buy it after I've beat the game and create a new save file to mess with them. supposedly, they ALL disable achievements.

Sony is offering Saints Row 2 and all of its DLC for free as a gift for those who buy the PS3 version of the game. The offer will only be available until February 13, 2012.

Most likely the move was done in reaction to the news of THQ removing the PS3 exclusive content from Saints Row the Third due to them not advertising this as a bonus feature unlike what was done for Assassin's Creed Brotherhood/Revelations and Medal of Honor reboot.

The whole PC version in the UK is just a farce. Luckily, the actual port is pretty good especially when compared to SR2. My entire experience so far though:

1) Purchase CD key from website, thus bypassing the whole retail physical copy industry that didn't want the game on Steam in the first place

2) Input key to Steam and download game (users that are installing from disc have reported downloading 2gb through Steam after some of the content is installed from disc as well)

3) Notice I have no Genki stuff when I go to play

4) Click DLC page and all the page says is that it's "not in my region"

5) Find out THQ will be sending out the Genki codes seperately

6) Find out all other DLC is only purchasable from 3rd party resellers and latest info is it will only be the season pass

One should also note Savior's only reason for hating SR2 is gone. You don't need to earn respect for missions anymore. You only need higher respect levels to unlock perks.

Infinite ammo at Respect 50...Plus a SHITLOAD of cash, but still...:) that annoyed me in SR2 especially due to the fact I was rushing to beat it. I still can not believe that last part of the mission where you rescue Zimos

I don't know for sure. They run with it through the first half of the story at least. It's possible they're gonna pull a psych hitler near the end, and it'd be awesome of they did, but I think he's dead.

I think it's funny that Johnny dies doing something serious, then the Boss chastises Shaundi for letting a reality show get her too soft. Not that I'm surprised, mind.

Also, I love the part where your actions in the last game turn around to bite you in the ass.

Agreed on the saves. I did that once in 2. It pissed me off and still pisses me off. the gangs do disappear (I think, I can't find any Morningstar now that I took them out), but you can always redo traffick or other deals to get to gangs if you run out.

So, unless I'm missing something, this only happens on one island after martial law is declared. this is most definitely not what I was talking about, as STAG had not declared martial law at that point, I wasn't in the restricted zone, and did not have a one-star rating.

Other fun glitches: Falling through the scenery, getting stuck inside a building (once I fell far enough to respawn), and the helicopter jump glitch. For some reason, when on the ground and getting out of a helicopter or VTOL, sometimes my character will decide to jump. And take huge amount of damage from the ten foot fall.

This bothered me a little when it happened at first. It bothers me more now that I have the max fall damage upgrade, meaning I'm taking serious (sometimes lethal) damage from falls when I am supposed to receive zero.

had my first go of the hoverbike today as i never tried it my first play round :'( also i realised i was probably perma-one-starred cause my bloke was BUTT NAKED. otherwise i dunno.

my biggest gripe with the game is that the AI for your homies is absolutely ridiculous. possibly even worse than SR2. the amount of times they're just started running in slow motion or getting stuck behind things is insane. i'd hate to play the game on hard just because no matter how good you are, it will screw you all the same :'(

also got infinite ammo and no reload + no fire damage for my tek-9 :'( incredible. beautiful carnage.

Kane Knight

I love the Dual SMGs with no ammo/reload. Hail of bullets.

AI in this game is pretty awful. The only strategy your enemies have is swamp you with 9000 people at once. Combined with infinite accuracy (They can shoot me while running from like 3 blocks away), they can be a pest. And your homies can be really fucking useless. I still think they programmed Pierce to be extra fucking useless, though. I hate trafficking/main missions with him because the one thing I know will happen is he will at some point (probably several of them) he will refuse to get into the car

THQ updated the website for the game to include stat tracking for both individual players and overall stats. They also updated the website to include a real-time updated map of Steelport that will track what your friends did for achievements and stuff along with uploading photos from the game to the service.

THQ also revealed since the release of the game, over 2 million in-game characters have been killed by the Purple Penetrator weapon.

I did several of them early, just in case like, the gang specific ones disappeared at some point, so I was safe. I ended up needing mascots and those mini cars and grinding both.

Got some of them easy simply because I usually drive on the wrong side of the road, for example.

All in all, I'm disappointed in this game. It is still fun, mind you, but I was expecting a lot more. Steelport has more detail and better visuals than stillwater, but it has a loooong way to go before it feels like a living breathing city, ala GTA and RDR.

There is also a lot less variety in the enviornment in this installment. Not very many things stand out, unlike SR2.

That and all the things they took out have left me bored of the game pretty quick. Though to be fair, that has a lot to do with the influx of amazing games we've gotten lately.

Hopefully SR4 will be the definitive title in the series.

I wouldn't mind them going the CRAZAY route as long as they fleshed everything out more. I don't think they can address everyone's complaints this time. Most of the complaints come in the form of customisation and activity. The former can't be readily remedied without both a hit to the graphics and a hit to their model of selling us DLC packs. It's one of the reasons Saints Row 2 looked dated from the get-go and that hurt sales. I don't think this gun is going to be un-fired. And the latter still goes to DLC.

Plus, I doubt the length issue is going to be resolved.

I mean, seriously, why spend time and effort to expand a game when you can sell DLC?

Increase all cash received by 25%
An hourly income of $2,500

Yeah, it's true unfortunately. As far as I know, there's no way to tell how much to the penny companies spend on each aspect of developing a game. So companies can say, "Oh, well the on-disc DLC was made after our deadlines, and therefore cost more to put in the game, so we have to charge for it", but consumers would have no idea if this was true or not, so it's obviously something that can easily be taken advantage of.

95% of people who bitch about it, end up buying whatever they're complaining about in the first place, so that certainly doesn't help the situation.

Hell, I was only halfway through Arkham City before Skyrim and then Sould Calibur came out. Unfortunately, the notion of going overbudget to fit the game content on the disc and then locking it is kinda ridiculous. Especially when you can have day 1 DLC outside your core budget after the disc has gone to print.

But yes, the problem is a lot of the people who are saying they're going to boycott won't. Like Mass Effect 3. I bet I'll see like a dozen or two playing the game day one on Live.

Can't really blame you. Though only one of those games really interests me, but this game (while still fun) is kind of third tier. If I had anything else I cared about last November, I wouldn't have finished it. And as is, I still haven't gone back to complete takeover of the city or anything.

I was dead set on 100%ing this game, and I could probably do it in a day, but the interest just isn't there. Way too many superior games came out at the same time or are on the way right now. At some point I'll spent a lazy Sunday finishing this, but it'll be more of a chore than enjoyment. This game should have been $40 instead of $60. Even the collector's edition headset my friend has is fucked. It's a standard headset with autotune built in so he can't even use it on xbox live because they have those little non-standard connectors on the 360 controller.

LOL yeah, they pointed that out in the CE literature. Kinda don't see the point.

Yeah, if it were a high end headset I could see it being used by djs or something (if you don't mind wearing plastic gems all all over your headset). But this is like a $15 voip headset. No thought put in at all.

I wouldn't mind being able to autotune or otherwise modulate my voice on XBox Live.

The only problem is, imagine how many twats would use it full-time. Especially while screaming racial and sexual slurs in voices that are yet to drop (along with their testicles).

I would use it for 2 things:

Trolling on Rock Band and autotune at random during street fighter matches.

"You gonna whiff that ultra, baby" all autotuned out...

Bad autotuned vocals during Carry On Wayward Son...

If you didn't just bail me out I'd be walki-iiii-ing the other way.

New DLC, trouble with clones, takes less than an hour to complete, again probably better if your starting the game from scratch rather than as way to extend it. And you have to reload a saved game to replay it,although i'm missing one achievment from my 1st play through which i could have gotten then too had i realised.

I need to download this as it's the only thing standing between me and another completion. Well, I also need the play 2 hours as a male and 2 hours as a female achievement too.

Fucking love this game so much.
