Xenogears thread

Can we have a thread where we just talk about xenogears :( It hasn't even been that long since I beat it but it is so good. And there is so much to talk about. Spoilers obviously. One really interesting character was Hammer. It was so depressing watching his demise. Crazy.

This and FFT are my most favorite RPGs of all time. I haven't played it in like a million years, who was Hammer? He had something to do with Rico right?

Yeah he was the rat dude who was Rico's friend in Nortune and would sell you stuff. I remember he would sell you this one item, I think it was Omegasol, which would fully restore your HP/other stats for 50 G each while the other items he sold you, which did much less, he would sell for way more. I always had 99 of them. Was never sure if that was a glitch or not. The only thing was you couldn't use Omegasol in battle.

I love the story the most. I haven't played the sequel or any other Xeno game that has come out since but I watched the anime and I like how the end of it is the very beginning of Xenogears.

I remember the Zohar modifier. The machine that trapped a powerful energy being from another dimension that people thought was God or something.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that really, really likes SaGa Frontier. I see on Wiki that PSN just released Xenogears. I'd get a PS3 just for that and FFT.

I don't know. The whole story is insane. People say it is like Neon Genesis Evangelion which I have only watched a little of. I haven't heard of the anime unless it's part of Perfect Works? I would like to see it nonetheless.

I have all the Xenosagas too but haven't played any of them yet. I feel like I will at some point, but not for a while.

I downloaded it a few years ago from a torrent somewhere then put them all on DVD so I can watch it again one day. Here's the first ep on Youtube to see what it's like.

When does it take place?

I don't know exactly but some time before the Eldridge crashes onto the planet that Xenogears takes place on.

I just read a little about Neon Genesis Evangelion and doesn't really sound similar to XG or XS at all. I haven't seen any NGE at all though.

Evrybody I know who has seen all of NGE and completed Xenogears has told me how similar they are. Maybe not the same storyline, but a lot of the themes. Like creating/killing God. And they have huge mechs too.

Xenosaga is a spiritual sequel to Xenogears, lots of in references but it's not in the same universe per say.

The Anime also just covers Part 1.

Xenosaga has not great gameplay at times but as an amazing story, I watch the cutscenes of the 3 games once or twice a year.
