Duke Nukem? (http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2011/03/duke-nukem-forever-includes-butt-slapping-capture-the-babe-mode.ars) No, we must not be talking about the same imaginary character.
Couldn't be...
To be honest, my first thought upon hearing this news was that it was a misprint of some kind, but when publications began getting official clarification (http://www.destructoid.com/duke-nukem-forever-multiplayer-slap-women-in-the-face--196876.phtml) stating that you'd be slapping the women on the butt while they were slung over your shoulders, I began to take it a little more seriously. Duke Nukem games have always treated women as objects to lust over, and the most interaction you had with women in prior games consisted of paying them to strip for you. Gaming has grown up, to some extent, and the gamers who grew up playing these games are also a little older, so it will be worth watching to see how this sort of humor plays with contemporary audiences. But there's no way around the fact that there's some offensive misogyny going on here. What's next, rebooting a movie like Blazing Saddles, complete with racial slurs?
This guy must be married and scared of black people to be this PC. Aside from the fact that he apparently has never played any Rockstar game or Saints Row 2, his statement about Gaming having grown up baffles me.
His statement about rebooting Blazing Saddles without the use of racial slurs actually made me laugh. Apparently, this guy was totally offended when he saw that horrible racist film. Nevermind that the jokes weren't in favor of racism or the black actor that starred in the film.
Really want to nut-check the person who wrote this article.

I laughed a bit at the "Gaming has grown up" quote considering how EA marketed Dead Space 2 as a game your mom wouldn't like and Epic Games over-the-top shooter Bulletstorm.

And some primitive fuckers still believe in a flat earth.
That doesn't mean the overall landscape hasn't changed.
Doesn't mean the complaints aren't silly.

It's even funnier when you consider that, while inferior, a remake of The Producers was done, complete with all those offensive bits from "Springtime for Hitler." It's not quite the same as Blazing Saddles, but it's along the same lines for most intents and purposes.
So yes.

Mind you if they reboot Birth of a Nation...maybe they could take out the Klan?

What about a remake of Song of the South?

I own that movie actually. We had to buy it from Europe.
Kind of long and boring...fell asleep before the lynching scene.

Friend of mine bought it on VHS. I've never seen the whole thing, but it's easy enough to watch if you're motivated.
It's also funny as fuck to think of it in terms of "Disney" movies.

I have to admit that my love for Disney was undiminished after watching it. However Barney Fife turning into a fish put a damper on that love.

I still love Disney for making a movie about a boy who goes to Hell and fights the Devil.
...Whoops...Goes to Annuvin and fights the Horned King (Conflated with Arawn in the movie).
Then again, if Walden Media (Christian filmmakers) can license The Dark Is Rising and try and ignore the pagan parables within....

If anything, the current dev.'s should be getting all the criticism...Went in to my local GameStop store yesterday and put $10 down towards L.A. Noire, mentioned that I had paid in full for a pre-order of DNF, (and here's the funny part...) the rep. mentioned that it had been delayed 3 weeks, saying it was delayed until June 14 (the funny bit being that there's 6 weeks between 5/3 and 6/14, not 3...).
Seriously, if this keeps up, how can they possibly expect to have a hit game that sells X million copies?!

My wife said that someone got 'gangraped' on Weakest Link earlier. Naturally I should have pinned her down on the sofa and forcefully explained how she's perpetuating rape culture.

Easily? DNF is likely to sell well whenever it comes out?

I'm probably going to way til it's $20.00 before buying it.

I'll pass on it entirely, but given the number of pre-orders reported, I'm pretty sure it's going to do alright for itself.

Most of those pre-orders were from 2002.
