This according to TMZ w/ mugshot....

Kurt Angle Arrested for Being Drunk in a Car

Wrestling superstar Kurt Angle was arrested early this morning in North Dakota ... TMZ has learned.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... highway patrol in Grand Forks found Angle sitting in his car in the median separating lanes. We're told Angle told cops he had hit an icy patch in the road. During the conversation, cops say they smelled alcohol on Angle's breath. He failed a field sobriety test and was arrested.

Since cops didn't see Angle driving, he was arrested and later charged with being in control of a motor vehicle while intoxicated -- which basically means he was allegedly drunk behind the wheel but not actually driving.

It looks as if Kurt is pretty upset about this whole Jeff/Karen thing huh.....:shifty: Discuss....will he face any punishment? or will TNA sweep it under the rug like they have the Hardy situation...

Why would he be upset about that now? Have you seen his smoking hot new financee who is now pregnant?

Seems like a bullshit charge since they didn't pull him over. You can't even hang out in a car if you're drunk? Or was it because he talked about driving?

I'm sure they will add it to the Angle/Jarrett storyline somehow.

I mean, I don't care what anybody says, it CAN'T be easy to work with your ex-wife and the guy who married her. People will say "Well, Kurt and Karen were already divorced when Karen and Jeff Jarrett got together", but who can guarantee that?

Come back home to the WWE, Kurt.

LOL, my shifty eyes were meant to indicate sarcasm. Hell you can look at the mugshot and tell he seemed to be a pretty happy drunk. I figure the charge is based not just in the fact he was sitting in the car drunk, but was also in a median, and like you mentioned, admitted to driving and hitting an icy patch of road.

While I too wish Kurt would wrap up his career in WWE, I also feel like for that to happen he would need to seek some professional help for any substance abuse that may be lingering from when he left originally, which he didn't want to do. While his private life is in fact his, I remember WWE and Vince wanting him to get some rehab, for which he refused and ended up in TNA where drug testing is irrelevant.

TMZ coverage? He'll be TNA champ by the end of the next Impact tapings.

Do you think that if Angle hadn't become a pro wrestler this story would gain more notoriety? Or is the opposite, that since he is technically "current"?

Headline... "Former Olympic gold medalist arrested on impaired driving charges"

or has too much time passed since 1996?

I don't know why, but that mugshot cracked me up. I hope Angle works his shit out, though, and that TNA doesn't encourage this sort of behaviour and lead Angle down a dark path.

You can 'hang around' in a car if you're drunk all you want, but if the engine is running then technically you're in control of it, which is illegal if you've been drinking. Here in England if you want to answer your mobile phone you have to turn of the engine even though you've pulled over, or you could be charged.

I don't know how it works in the us but here in quebec it's criminal to have responsability of a vehilcule while your drunk, if you are drunk and sleep in a parked car and you got the keys you're in the same trouble as if you were driving it. You can't even mow your lawn drunk here, i've lost my licence cause i was on my lawnmower with a beer on my property.

Mr. Nerfect
03-26-2011, 11:31 PM
Yeah, it's the same over here. If you're drunk and you are sitting in a driver's seat -- engine on or off -- you're fucked.

That's harsh, in the UK you can drive as drunk as you like on private (preferably your own) property.

In IL at least (Can't really speak for all of America since laws vary per state) you have to have the engine on to get into any kind of trouble. If you are sitting their drunk, in park you will still get arrested and such.

In quebec even if you're in the back seat, if you got the car key in you posession you're in shit, it's criminal.

Yeah, here the only way to avoid it is not to possess the keys.

It is. Don't you know WWE forced Kurt to take those drugs!

I have to admit I really believed that the reason Kurt Angle left was because:

a) being on the road constantly was a great strain on him and his family
b) he was physically and mentally exhausted
c) he didn't enjoy being dropped onto the C show and eventually losing to the Zombie.

I didn't think he'd go to TNA and then I figured he only went for the lighter show schedule (then I found out he was wrestling in Japan), nor did I see the divorce coming or his divorce playing out on TV. I didn't think the Olympic Hero would ever get sued for sexual harassment or get to the point where he'd be taking HGH and getting drunk and driving home.

Well played Kurt...Russo is sooooo using this.

...if Russo uses this, and has Jeff Jarrett call him a drunk or whatever, when he (Jeff) already is married to Kurt's ex-wife, wow...it would be, like, I don't know...

...I would see it as being SO humiliating to Kurt, in real life...

I coulda told ya Kurt was lying years ago.

In fact, I was saying it for quite some time. I mean, I'm not one to put faith in WWE's side of things, but their story seemed more logical at the time than the one Kurt was spinning, so I had to take it as more plausible.

Not that I'm particularly happy to be right about Kurt being a car wreck.

I knew that he lied to get out of his contract I just wanted to believe the reasons why he did. He seemed like such a smart and super-motivated guy and he's turned into a guy on the verge of crippling himself (ala Taz) and having a mental break-down (ala Benoit).

Not looking forward to it...
