I like Godzilla movies.

Do any of you like those kind of movies?

Depends.

There are some really fun Godzilla movies. They're the equivalent of pro wrestling: They're not deep, they're just supposed to be fun. Chaos and destruction can be a fun break from these movies that spend so much time trying to PRETEND they have a plot these days.

I like the Godzilla movies. I wont go out and buy them but if they are on tv then I will sit and watch them. Its just funny to watch. They are bringing the original Godzilla (Not the remake) back to theatres sometime soon.

I don't watch them for great acting/directing, I watch them to have a decent time.

Well, the reason they are bringing the original Godzilla back is because it's the 50th Anniversary for Godzilla.

There is also another new Godzilla coming out celebrating this called Godzilla: Final Wars.

http://www.godzilla.co.jp

It's supposed to feature up to 10 monsters.

I've got myself a good 11 or 12 Godzilla movies. Most of them are the MST-worthy level of cheese which I love, but there are a couple that really aren't that bad. In fact, GMK-Daikaiju Soukougeki (which was released in the States a couple of months ago) is pretty good by regular movie standards.

Still, the crappy ones are more fun.

I've seen all the films, and have thousands of dollars worth of collectibles. I am an enormous fan, needless to say, and have been since I was 3-4 years old. GMK was great IMO, I like Kaneko better than Tezuka, and Gamera III was an absolute classic. I have high hopes for Final Wars, Can't wait for the return of Gigan and Angilas.

Here's a list of the Kaiju involved (supposedly "confirmed")
Godzilla
Monster X
Mothra (larva form)
King Ghidora
Rodan
Angilas
Gigan
Manda
Gorosaurus
Kumunga
Kamakaris
Ebirah
Minya
King Seasar

I'm clueless as to why Minya was included...

The Final Wars sounds great, flashback to Destroy All Monsters. I've like G. for as long as I could remember, mostly for the campy action, then I was taking a media studies course and my prof. said that Godzilla (1954) was one of most analyzed movies in academia based upon social aspects of Japan being bombed in WWII. That's not to say that I. Honda intentionally made a deep movie, but the popularity and psyche behind the phenomenon is what interested scholars. I did gain a more deeper appreciation for the films. I think I mentioned before, I have most of the movies and even the original in Japanese. I'm not a collector by any means, but do love the films. I have some of the Marvel Comics as well, as I never threw any comics away.

Kamakaris
Ebirah
Minya
King Seasar

After Baragon made such a strong comeback and Varan was one of the monsters who was originally scripted to be in GMK, I can't belive those two were left out for any of these fools.

Anyway, I would like to add, I own every Godzilla on VHS (although most of the covers are missing) and I own a few of these Japanese ones on DVD. :y:  :y:  :y:  :y:

Godzilla is awesome, it's fun. And still so much better than a lot of the shit movies hyped today.

Gojira is the man.

Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II and Godzilla vs. Mothra: Battle For Earth are my favorite from the Heisei era.

I just read on imdb.com that Godzilla: Final Wars is going to be the last Godzilla movie for at least for the next 5-10 years.

Yup. Hence "Final" Wars. It's a damn shame, but they've "Ended" the series so many times, I'm confident that it'll return within the next 10 years or so. It's a long time I know, but who knows, maybe it'll return with a Godzilla vs Gamera (crosses fingers).

Also, I thought this was interesting. It's a big spoiler, so read at your own risk (from Monster Zero News): Spoiler (http://www.clubtokyo.org/monsterzero/editorials/editorials.php?catID=Nws&subCatID=15&contentID=438)
