View Full Version : How long before Dolph Ziggler is ready for the main event? (if at all)

In 2006 I had no idea that Nicky would be the most successful member of The Spirit Squad. Dolph has come along way from shaking peoples hand and introducing himself to people backstage, and has been getting better in the ring too. When, if at all, do you think Dolph will be ready for the main event? I honestly think he has enough talent and the look to be a main event heel if they continue to build him up (and loses Vickie Guerrero)

Pretty sure he was already in the main event over on Smackdown

He's ready right now. Problem is, him ditching Vickie is a face move. Needs more time to get over if he goes face, and more of a push. But as far as can he do it, I think so. Him and Morrison, push them both. Give them something that matters to fight over and they'll both get over.

MITB hopeful, along with Morrison and McIntyre.

WWE champ late 2011 to early 2012.

If he stays on Smackdown after the draft, then within 1-2 years. Same goes for Barrett being in the title scene around the same time frame.

Also depends if Christian ends up turning heel and Ziggler stays as a heel since Christian looks to be next in the title feud after Edge-Del Rio is done.

Him and Cody should be the main event heels by the end of this year.

If he stays on Smackdown after the draft,

He is already on RAW, and was already in the main events on Smackdown.

Kick Dolph to the Curb. We need a bigger push for Jack Swagger.

He has already been champ

:-\ managed to mix up the show he's currently on.

I also viewed the question more of being a champion in the main event or at least having another chance since his first main event run on Smackdown was more of a test run.

In the ring, he's my favorite person on planet earth rite now. Totally seriously. Love him so much. Character needs more work but baby, you're gonna be a star.

He's just been alright to me. I don't know. I enjoyed his feud with Edge but him going over wouldn't have felt right. It felt like he needed to be the DiBiase type, perennial challenger but not champion type.

It's scary but there are very few guys that I feel like right now on the roster could be big main event stars of the future. WWE needs to commit and find some guys or they are in huge trouble down the road.

Morrison, McIntyre, Ziggler, Sheamus, Kofi, Barrett, Zeke, Gabirel, Rhodes, and Dibiase and now Sin Cara. (maybe Slater...I dunno, Gabriel has had more single matches that meant something then Wendy's boy)

WWE will be just fine.

He's better than Morrison in every way, so if we HAVE to have a mid-card guy move up it should be him.

Half of those guys you mentioned have NO realistic chance of being the face of the WWE down the road. Can they main event? Of course. Anyone could main event. But think of the gap between Cena, Rock, Hogan, Austin, HBK, Taker, HHH as the face of the company and... Heath Slater as the face of the company...

John Morrison is the one name on that list I'll give you. Barrett maybe. Kofi, I love but can't see him as a long-term staple in the main event.

Of course my mind could instantly change on a few of them if I saw them booked correctly. No one gets over if they're booked like shit obviously. So yeah, WWE is in trouble because it takes more than just a year or two to start booking your next big star.

The more I think about it, I think Ziggler has a chance of at least being a staple in the main event scene. Not the face of the company, but he can be a long-time main event heel. Give him a good face turn after year and years of that and who knows.

Right now with his current gimmick I don't think he can but if they tweak it along with his name then I could eventually see it happening.

All Dolph needs is a push, and the only reason he's not getting that right now is because it's WrestleMania time. Hell, the man won the World Heavyweight Title on the Road to WrestleMania -- the WWE is absolutely in love with him, and if you don't see that then you're absolutely deluded.

My question is, why is ^*this*^ a legit argument here and almost anywhere else, but not when it comes to someone like Daniel Bryan? Just sayin'.

His two minute title reign aside, I totally buy Mr. Ziggles in the main event and not being out of place or forced. Being paired with the massive heat machine that is Vickie didn't hurt in the least.

It's a fine gripe for Bryan too... but I think there's a ceiling for Bryan. He just wouldn't really be believable as a powerhouse main eventer to me.

I don't get why people think Dolph has to lose Vicky to be a legit main eventer, especially when the same people constantly bitch about there being no managers in wrestling anymore. If you're going to push a guy why would you remove his guaranteed heat? Even it is by heat by proxy, it's still counter productive and a ridiculous move. This would be like pushing Miz as a main event mute.

Mr. Nerfect

I agree with Ultra Mantis. You only remove Vickie when you want Ziggler to be a babyface.

On a semi-interesting note: Dolph Ziggler has never been a babyface in the WWE to my knowledge. From his beginnings as Chavo Guerrero's caddy to The Spirit Squad right through to now -- he's always been a bad guy.

As long as he stays consistent, he'll get there.
