Not a diss or anything, but here's an example

I spent the rest of Raw last week with tears welled in my eyes. I wish they had given this a bit of a build and let somebody storyline-wise 'retire' him. I feel the WWE have missed a trick there.


I don't know, maybe I have no emotions or something, but I don't recall wrestling ever bringing me to the point of tears of joy or sadness or whatever.

Maybe some people are just really passionate about their RASSLIN'

Even when a wrestler died, I haven't gotten to the point of being teary eyed. Maybe I'm just jaded, I don't know

I agree, but this is sports entertainment with writers and angles. I enjoy watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition because it's heart warming, but wrestling is wrestling. Unless you are related or know the person personally... :?:

I've cried three times due to wrestling. However, I wasn't full out bowling it. One time was more a case of teary eyes (when Benoit won the title), and the other two were the Eddie and Owen tribute shows, but that was really just a tear or two when you saw other wrestlers crying. Couldn't help but well-up when I see that.

Edge's retirement speech were pretty sad and gut-wrenching, but not something to make me cry. The guy's had a dream career, and he had to retire sooner or later. It was expected, and it's not like he's dead or anything...

It really has nothing at all to do with wrestling.

I can totally see someone crying when Edge was retiring, not because of a wrestling character but because it was an actual man in the ring giving a heart-felt speech and on the verge of tears as he was forced to give up what he loved and wanted to do since childhood. It's a human reaction towards the real human emotion of the situation. It was only about pro wrestling in that it happened to be the profession he was giving up. Completely irrelevant though.

Crying over wrestling and crying over wrestler's dying/retiring is completely different.

I don't recall ever actually crying over a wrestler's retirement/death, I may have when Eddie died, not bawled but I may have had tears in my eyes, can't remember. And Edge's retirement speech did 'provoke emotion' from me.

Of course it did, we watched Edge week in week out for years and years. You've probably seen him live, you probably know about his real life stuff. You've seen him almost grow up. Wrestling isn't like a soap-opera or something, it combines that with sport hence the 'real' feel to it, the more personal feel. We all know that wrestling is 'different'. Edge's retirement is just one example, but he is an example of someone who provided lots of entertainment for people for years, he's been on our TV screens for YEARS, and done a lot for the wrestling industry, surely it's understandable to be upset?

And as for cases like Eddie Guerrero, on top of the reasons I just said, that's a fucking tragedy. People were crying when Michael Jackson, Lady Diana, even a few for Nate Dogg (MOUNT UP!). It's understandable brahhh.

I tend to be pretty open emotionally, and movies get me all the time. I've never cried at a storyline, but there have been a few times where I've leaked a few tears.

- The ending of the Flair / HBK match at Mania (I'm sorry. I love you.). Maybe the most emotionally honest matches ever
- The next night on Flair's goodbye tribute. Especially when they brought out his family. Flair is such a blubbering bitch, and I was right there with him.
- Owen's tribute. I was watching Over The Edge, but I think I was too shocked for it to really hit me.
- Eddie's tribute. Especially watching Benoit completely lose his shit. Little did I know how important that would be later.
- I don't remember specifically losing it at Benoit's tribute, but knowing my track record, I probably did
- I got choked up at HBK's and Edge's retirement speeches, but I don't think I shed any tears

And yes, when we finally lose The Brain, I'm sure I'll be having one hell of a shitty day

I had some friends at Over the edge when Owen died. They said the whole place thought his death was a stunt. And being from the KC area his death was local and national headlines non stop. It was pretty emotional times. I remember Jonathan Coachman was a sports reporter for the local ABC station, KMBC 9 news reporting on the accident.

Deaths especially can be very emotional. Especially when they do whole shows for one guy like they did for both Benoit and Eddie.

They made a career video package for Eddie with that song and I just lost it, not too proud to admit it. Also, Flair's (WWE) retirement party on RAW in '08 got to me...can't even count how many tissues I must have used just drying my eyes.
