What I would have done is have two triple threats. Instead have Goldberg vs. The Undertaker. I know about the whole Kane storyline but its just something to think about. Both men are known for streaks in the business 173-0 and the Wrestlemania streak. I would still have everything else as is and have Brock Lesnar face Kurt Angle and Eddie Guerrero in a triple threat for the WWE Title. Lesnar wouldn't have won, but it makes Guerrero look even better by trimphing over two great champions. Either way I liked the way 20 turned out.

Given a lot of stuff that did or didn't happen afterwards, you can make hindsight changes to improve that card.

For instance, you could scrap Benoit completely given what ultimately happened, and make the WHC main even Brock vs HHH, which was a huge draw that never happened properly.
I'm pretty sure this would have main evented Wrestlemania 21 had Brock not abruptly quit. They were just biding their time.

The Rock vs Shawn is one of the biggest matches that never happened, and would be quite perfect for WMXX in MSG. Shawn was occupied with Jericho and Angle in surrounding years, and I wouldn't want those lost.

Then, as you suggested, Rock vs Orton could just revert to a singles match which it was mostly built for anyways.

I'd probably just leave Eddie vs Angle be, tbh.

And you could have Goldberg vs Undertaker, although the streak stuff wasn't really the main attraction there. It was all about the return of the Deadman gimmick and the supernatural storyline, so Kane was pretty fitting.

I'm suprised nobody mentioned the Austin/Goldberg rumors around that time.

Really, if this all went down the card would have been too big. That many big matches on one card would be exhausting for the fans and a bunch of them would get short-changed, and ultimately it would be bad business to sell that many money matches on one ppv.

They also didn't do anything involving Hogan, Savage or even Bret, and all of those names were strongly rumored for the event.

I like your HHH vs. Lesnar idea. That would have been great as well. I agree that probably was the idea for WM 21. I do have to say I think the buildup to Batista ultiamtely becoming the most over babyface since The Rock (in my opinion) was one of the best written storylines in the company's history. He was pretty over in 2005 before Cena became THE guy.

That Batista stuff was all great, no doubt. Unfortunately, it didn't stay that exciting or fresh over the following years.
That's sort of how that type of hyped up babyface monster works though. It's all in the chase. Once he captured the title and destroyed HHH, it was downhill.
