According to Crytek, Crysis 3 was meant to have a Wii U version and was finished around the same time as the other platforms but EA demanded the project to be cancelled.
The reason appears to be related to rumors of EA being pissed off at Nintendo rejecting having Origin be the provider for the new Nintendo Network and EA having a lot of control over it. Also would support rumors of EA pulling support for Wii U projects as punishment against Nintendo.

Miyamoto revealed some stuff Nintendo is working on in a recent interview with Polygon:
* The Wii U NFC project is currently one of their top priority projects with Nintendo hoping to have something ready in the near future.
* Nintendo themselves are currently developing games to support multiple Game Pads at once and will show case them at a later date (maybe E3).
* Considering the success of the Nintendo Direct series, Nintendo now will use ND to make big announcements while E3 will still be their focus for having hands-on stuff for the public.

The interface is fine as it is. Are they going to do what MS did with the 360 Dashboard and turn, what was a fine interface, into a clunky mess?
Emperor Smeat

Probably not since the thinking behind the big XBLA redesigns was Microsoft adding too much stuff or catering to just a segment of the Xbox 360 crowd.
All the reports about the Wii U interface hint more at a lot of tweaks and fixes but nothing really drastic unless some serious problems pop up after the April update. Think the interface wasn't tested well since its not using the 1GB of RAM effectively.

No but you have the choice of either playing the games in Wii Virtual mode or pay a discounted priced to upgrade the Wii version to a Wii U version with extra features.
Supposedly the reason besides double dipping by Nintendo is the rumors of them eventually dropping the old Wii system-based structure in favor of a unified account based system for the 3DS and Wii U later this year.

According to SEGA, the reason why Sonic Lost World is a Wii U exclusive is due to Sega getting close to Nintendo over the past few years (good to great game sales) and the Gamepad gave them a lot of inspiration for ideas.

They also stated the current plans for the Wii U is to use the same approach done with the 3DS to rebuild support and sales for the system. 5th Cell states the current plans for Scribblenauts Unmasked is to try to get as much of the DC Universe included for the game but could include DLC packs if they can't get some of the bigger stuff included in time.
Coming from a Joystiq interview with 5th Cell studio co-founder Joseph Trigali.
"there's obviously going to be some stuff missing. We definitely started... we wanted to get all the top treatments, all the top IP. There's dozens of versions of Batman, Superman, a lot of the major tier 1 heroes. Then we went through and added the rest of them. DC is such a big, expansive universe that it's not possible to get everything that's ever been created. For the platforms that support DLC, that's always a possibility, but there are no plans at this time."
EA has changes their official stance again in regards to the Wii U with the new stance being more of a "wait and see" approach. They are making games for the system but nothing shown at E3 is currently in development for the Wii U.
Coming from a BBC interview with EA's Frank Gibeau...
"We didn't make it easy for the market to figure out our stance on the Wii U, that's for sure. We're not announcing any new Wii U titles at E3, but that doesn't preclude us making games for it going forward. Do we have developers inside Electronic Arts that are watching the Wii U and understanding how it's developing? Yes, we're absolutely doing that. Do we have active development of Wii U titles that we're ready to publicly announce right now. No we do not."
Miyamoto teasing he could work on a brand new Yoshi game in the future once the current development projects are done.
"Not really. I guess this year we're working on a number of Yoshi games, but I myself haven't done a whole lot with Yoshi recently; maybe I'll make a super original Yoshi game."

Ubisoft announced they are still committed to supporting the Wii U.
Tony Key, senior VP of sales and marketing at Ubisoft:
“We did not take a big risk with all those launch titles on Wii U. [Wii U game] development isn’t expensive -- some Wii U games are versions of games for other platforms, like Assassin’s Creed. And we continue to invest in that system. We have just as many titles coming on Wii U this year as we did after launch, because the system isn’t as resource-intensive to make games for it. We continue to believe that the Wii U will find its audience. We saw some good games [during Nintendo Direct this week]. We’re confident that the Wii U is a good place for us to do business, and we can make money there.”

The Zelda Wii U project currently in development won't have "ultra realistic graphics" mainly because they don't feel it would be unique enough compared to other games. It won't be cartoony-realistic either like with recent games.
The thing about Zelda is we want everything to be unique, whether it’s the graphical presentation or the gameplay. It has to be something you can't see anywhere else. We wouldn't want it to be ultra-realistic because you can see that elsewhere. But I can't say that it's going to be cartoony-realistic like you mentioned, the fantastic presentation that we've already done in the past. It will be something new.

Future Zelda games could include DLC as a possibility but only if it can enhance the experience and not something just for the sake of having DLC.
“We’re certainly looking at different ways to add on content that would enhance the experience for the user—maybe more places to explore or just to enrich the experience beyond what is on the disc,” Aonuma told Nintendo Life. “But we also have to take into consideration that if we charge for this content then it needs to be worth it for the suer. So it’s certainly a balancing act, but I can’t say that it is something we’re not considering.”

According to Miyamoto during a recent IGN interview, Nintendo might be considering dropping Sega from developing/co-developing the F-Zero series.
He stated the current goal is for both Star Fox and the F-Zero series to be brought back under their internal studios control should future games get made.
"It’s tough. We come to the show and we bring a lot of great franchises and everyone says, 'Oh, well, where’s this game that I want to play? Where’s something new?' I only have so much capacity. [laughs] Obviously in the past we’ve tried to work with other companies, where we’ve let them develop games for us in franchises like Star Fox and F-Zero, but the more we think about it, the more we prefer to be able to create those games internally, on our own. We’ve obviously, as I mentioned, been working on what we can do to increase our internal staff in a way that will allow us to have more projects going at the same time, so we can create new games and work on additional old IP and still maintain the other primary franchises that people want to see."

According to Sega, they are well aware of Sonic Lost World resembling the Super Mario Galaxy series since they started to notice it as well during early testing.
"With Lost World we wanted to evolve how Sonic works in 3D. When you think about a 3D level, it's still limited - the sides are limited - so we talked about making levels as cubes or tubes. Expanding the sides around 360 degrees enables players to take many paths, not just two or three. We ended up with a tune stage and realised we were a bit close to Mario Galaxy!"

According to Miyamoto, Nintendo ended up completely misjudging the size needed for their development teams in regards to HD game development. He stated in order to just do normal development, Nintendo needs roughly double of what they current have for manpower and rework their entire development cycle which favors a significant amount of time polishing a game. He also hinted Nintendo is working on an engine for the Wii U whose goal is to help speed up development for everyone working on Wii U games.
This would explain why Nintendo's current restructuring plans require a little over a year to finish due to the massive expansion needed by the company.

Nintendo revealed the list of games they will be showing off at Gamescom with the main focus being towards the Wii U.
On August 21st through the 25th, Gamescom will commence in Europe, and for the very first time, gamers will have a chance to play Pokemon X and Y in the EU. Nintendo also has revealed that there will be playable 3DS demos for Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, as well as The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
But while the 3DS has no shortage of incredible games in general, it looks like Nintendo will be focusing on the Wii U, with tons of demos on hand. In fact, Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Wind Waker HD, Sonic Lost World, Wii Party U, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Super Mario 3D World, Wii U Karoake U, and Mario Kart 8 will be readily available.

According to a former employee at Human Head, the studio was working on a collaboration project with Nintendo around the same time they were having business problems with Bethesda.
According to the animator's portfolio, Human Head sub-division Nine Realms, Inc. had begun developing a prototype for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mobile game for Nickelodeon alongside an unannounced Nintendo project. While no details exist about the Nintendo project, the company did begin hiring part-time Japanese translators to translate "project documentation, written correspondence and live [conversation]," last year; suggesting a relation to the alleged Nintendo project.
Late last year Human Head job postings hinted at the development of an unannounced, open-world console project set within the mystery genre. This was soon cancelled, according to the studio's former lead designer Christopher Stockman. It's unclear, however, whether this relates to the alleged Nintendo title.

n-Space announces they have pulled all development support from Nintendo platforms at least for the time being with the official reason being low demand by other publishers for them to develop 3DS games.
n-Space's CEO Dan O'Leary:
"It's kind of a sad thing to say, because for a long time n-Space has been known as a Nintendo-friendly developer. We certainly have loved all our time working with them. We think their hardware's great. We think more often than not they have the right mindset in the difficult game world we live in...There's just very low demand right now for their work through the publisher side. Which is ironic, I think that'll probably swing back. The news was just talking about how Nintendo was beating everybody with hardware sales. The DS and 3DS sales curves have been slower than publishers would have liked. That may change, but I can tell you right now we're not working on anything."

According to Ubisoft, development on Zombi U ended up playing a big role towards the development of Watch Dogs.
We have learned some interesting [things about] gameplay thanks to the Wii U. With ZombiU last year, it was one of the first times we could explore asynchronous gameplay thanks to the second screen. When we look at that today, it's also thanks to that we've been able to create gameplay for games like Watch Dogs. This kind of technology is thanks to the learning we've done on the Wii U tablet. According to Eiji Aonuma, besides being busy with Wind Waker HD, the big reason why there has been barely any details about the Zelda Wii U project is because they are currently unsure where the game will take place in the timeline.
"Honestly it's not finalized yet, where in the Zelda universe this story will land. We're exploring different directions that we can take this story at this point, so there's unfortunately nothing I can share from that perspective."
http://www.gonintendo.com/?mode=viewstory&id=211848
He also stated both Wind Waker HD and A Link Between Worlds are influencing the development of the Zelda Wii U project with the tablet features of Wind Waker HD teases as being included for that game.
"Of course, we’re looking at the new Zelda game for Wii U, and absolutely, working on these titles has influenced and impacted the development of the new Wii U title. For example, in Wind Waker, we’re using the GamePad to travel around in the boat, using it almost like a GPS controller. I really want to take that mechanic and implement it in the Wii U game. I’m not saying that we’re going to be in a boat, but we’re going to be traveling around in the adventure. I think the GamePad is something that can allow us to make that as smooth and enjoyable an experience for the end user as possible.
Also, with A Link Between Worlds, we have some brand new elements, some never before seen in Zelda play styles in that game. I don’t have any direct or concrete examples, but it’s definitely bleeding over into the development on Wii U.
So what we’re seeing is…I think it’s a Zelda that incorporates some of the elements that players have come to love in the series and want to see, and also marrying them with new technologies and some new play styles from A Link Between Worlds. It’s all coming around full circle. It all ties in together."

The firmware came out. It's a bit faster to boot games, you can send the Wii BC to the gamepad, but not play using the gamepad controls and the eShop got new music.
There's more, like support for USB keyboards, but no-one gives a fuck.

Ubisoft states the Wii U version of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag won't be getting any DLC. It also ties into a previous announcement confirming no Season Pass for the Wii U version either.
While we talked about yesterday's DLC announcement lacking a Wii U confirmation, the situation only got worse today. Ubisoft has confirmed that the “Freedom Cry” DLC, as well as future DLC, won't land on Wii U. No reason for the decision was given.

According to developer Ripstone, the Wii U allows cross-platform play to be possible if developers choose to do so with no restrictions on other platforms used.
"They've (Nintendo) been quiet, but they've not been idle at all. We've been having similar conversations with them. They're changing their policies on the technical side a lot swifter. We're launching Pure Chess and Knytt Underground later this year, and on Pure Chess we asked whether we could do cross-platform multiplayer, expecting it to be the typical closed console platform I've been used to working with for 20 years. Within a couple of days they said, 'yep, no problem. You can have other console players playing against Wii U players. You can have smartphone players play against them. No problem.'

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma reveals it only took Nintendo around 6 months to complete the Wind Waker HD project.
“Development was still difficult. You had to consider the difference in hardware at the time. Additionally there is a technique known as toon shading, which gives the game a very animated look. At that time, the technique was established, but had not be used before by our staff, everyone had to do everything by hand.”
