What is everybodies opinion of Double J? I know "broke a thousand guitars, didn't draw a dime"

Puts on good matches, probably would be a Hall of Famer had he not held Vinny Mac hostage before his match with Chyna.

everything he did in WWE to me was garbage, just never saw him have a standout match, his gimmicks/attire were always god awful.

really thought his run with russo in WCW might show him in a good light with the chosen one deal but aside from the theme it fell flat for me personally.

His Tag Team with Owen was pretty good.

Was the best heel in wrestling a few months ago except for maybe Miz. Haven't caught up with TNA in that long so don't know if he's still doing the same/as well. Big fan.

Apparently his recent Lockdown match with Angle was amazing. I'm the same way. I hardly watch TNA unless there's no good sports games on, and now since it's baseball season I'll never watch.

...Wow, he was World Champion at WCW 4 times?!

Gertner

During the Russo Era the belts would change hands sometimes multiple times during one Nitro.

Gertner

The WCW World Title changed hands 20 times between the years 1996-1999.

The WCW World Title changed hands 23 times and was vacated 8 times between October 5th 1999 and October 5th 2000.

Guess which era was Russo's.

Aguakate

He's doing almost the same thing with the TNA Title. Everytime I tune into TNA, someone different is the Champ.

Here's some other Russo Era Gems

May 7th, Jarrett beat Arquette and Page for the belt

May 15h, Ric Flair beats Jeff Jarrett for the belt

Vacated due to Flair having a "heart attack "

May 22nd, Jeff Jarrett awarded the belt by Russo

May 23rd, Kevin Nash wins the belt against Jarrett and Steiner

May 29th, Flair gets the belt when Nash gives it to him

May 29th, Jarrett beats Flair for the belt.

Lol there were more World Title changes then there are weeks in the month of May.

Vince Russo doesn't care about Titles (Read it as Kanye West said "Bush doesn't care about black people").

Gertner
04-27-2011, 02:06 PM
January 16th, Bret Hart vacates the title

January 16th, Benoit wins the title against Sid

January 17th, Title vacated when Benoit leaves for the WWE

January 24th, Sid defeats Nash after defeating the Harris Bros for the right to fight Nash

January 25th , Vacated due to Sid pinning the wrong Harries Brother

January 25th, Kevin Nash awards himself the belt

January 25th, Sid wins the belt after beating Ron Harris ( The brother he was supposed to pin in the 24th, and Kevin Nash in a handicap match.

This pretty much explains why Nash, Jarrett are 50,000 time WCW champions.

His WWF/WCW run was alright, nothing amazing but he was watchable.

Don't watch TNA on a regular enough basis to judge his work there, but his match with Angle at Lockdown was fucking awesome, and definitely worth watching.

DDP was a 3 time WCW World Champion and held the belt for a combined 29 days

Wow really? I remember his first title reign, I was such a mark back then, it felt like he held it for ages. Couldn't have been more than two weeks lol.

Gertner
04-27-2011, 02:19 PM
DDP won his first title April 11th 1999,

Lost it April 26th, 1999 to Sting

Won it back April 26th, 1999 against Sting, Hogan and Flair

Lost it May 9th, 1999 to Kevin Nash

Won it April 24th, 2000

........lost it April 25th, 2000 to David Arquette lol

to play devils advocate for jarrett, edge won the title 11 times ina 5 year span in WWE and hes considered a god on here in the last month.

just saying i judge him more on his stupid trunks and not being great on the mic and being in countless bad feuds than title reigns. plus we all know jarrett doesn't hit the ropes properly

Yeah, but that's not solely because of how many title reigns Edge has had, but because of his fantastic career as a whole.

I've always been a fan of his. Jeff Jarrett is very good on the mic and pretty good in the ring.

For a period there he basically was the champion for TNA from like 2002 until 2006, which was kind of boring but every one of his matches against AJ Styles and Kurt Angle have all been gold. Not to mention his match against Sting at Bound for Glory 2006.

that in tna is a result of terrible planning. RVD was champ for awhile but had some special limit on how much he would compete before they had to pay him big bucks. of course that limit was reached, and instead of signing him like they eventually did they stripped him of it and played an angle where abyss destroyed/hurt him. then they put the belt on hardy who, well we all know his problems, which forced them to strip it off him too. alot of it is tna getting russo'd but i think they would have kept it on RVD for awhile if they werent such business idiots.

He was decent in the IC and non-heavyweight title feuds but never liked him during his main event time in WCW and TNA.

Not completely his fault in WCW but making him the focus of the heavyweight division was a bad choice considering all the other better names WCW had for younger wrestlers. TNA was more of him becoming boring as champion similar to Triple H on RAW in the early Brand Split years.

There's a lot I could say about Jeff Jarrett, but all I'm going to say is...

SPEND MY DAYS WORKIN' HARD ON THE GO
BUT THE HANDS ON THE CLOCK KEEP SPINNIN' TOO SLOW
I CAN'T WAIT TO BE ALONE WITH MY BABY TONIGHT
YOU KNOW MY BABY'S GOT ME WRAPPED AROUND HER LITTLE FINGER
CAUSE YOU KNOW THAT I WOULD WALK THROUGH HELL AND BACK TO BE WITH HER
I CAN'T WAIT TO BE ALONE WITH MY BABY TONIIIIIGHT

*TURN THE LIGHTS OFF, CLOSE THE DOOR*

WE'LL LEAVE EVERY WORRY IN THE WORLD BEHIND

*HOLD ME IN YOUR ARMS, NEVER LET ME--GOOOOOO*

BABY IT'S TRUE, I'VE GOT A ONE TRACK MIND
CAUSE IT'S HARD TO CONCENTRATE AROUND A GIRL LIKE MINE

*I CAN'T WAIT TO BE ALONE WITH MY BABY TONIIIIIIGHT*

***

Sadly, I typed all that from memory.

I couldn't stand Jarrett until he got his haircut in his match against waltman, and was only remotely tolerable for me until he went to wcw, where for some asinine reason I got into his chosen one gimmick and liked his slap-nut catchphrase, lol

The only things Jarrett ever did that I enjoyed were his feuds with Hall and XPac. Other than that he's always been pretty fucking lame.

Wait, getting roundhoused by Chuck Norris was pretty cool too, even if he did totally undersell it.

I'm waiting for someone to find that WCW promo where Buff "I'm the fair-haired child" Bagwell gets El Kabong'd by "The Chosen One". Easily one of the best moments of Jeff's career. I lack the will to wade through nWo fests and Jerry Flynn matches to find it myself. :|

I remember this......I knew Jarrett had signed over from the WWF, but didn't think they would pull another Lex Luger. So I was pretty surprised to see him run out and blast Buff with the guiter. I wish they would have timed it better because the reaction from the crowd wasn't that great; maybe during the match instead of after.

Oh but I didn't weigh in on Jarrett. I thought they way they changed his look in the WWF was a great idea. I don't know too much about this feuds, but the look was good. As far as his title reigns in WCW......well, they might have had younger guys, but Jarrett was young compared to some of the folks they still had in there.

This is a question for those of you who actually work in the ring......we all know WCW and the WWF had differently designed ring ropes. TNA seems to currently use the WCW style ropes. So if Jarrett doesn't hit the ropes properly, should there be a different approach for the different rope designs?

He owes Vince his success...He was still wearing the stupid strapped top tights with the long mane being a country bumpkin.

Vince brought him back, cut his hair, and make "Dont Piss Me Off" Double J which was his most entertaining run IMHO.

Loved his heel heat when he would make Debra put the puppies away. Like him having Southern Justice as Muscle too.

Reason #3,812 to shake your head at TNA: Typed 'Jeff Jarrett King of the Mountain DVD' into Google. The first result at the very top of the page (from ShopTNA.com, their own merch website no less) without even having to click on it states:

"Jeff Jarrett - King Of The Mountain 7 Feb 2011 ... Jeff Jarrett: King Of The Mountain Founder of TNA Wrestling, .... A Dvd full of bad matches. Jeff Jarrett is awful and his matches lack ...".

Literally their own worst enemy.
