The city of Toronto LOVES John McDonald Blue Jay shortstop. He's a utility player but he's probably one of the top 3 favourite Blue Jays in this city
Leafs fans love whoever their current enforcer is. Colton Orr is ours right now and the city loves him. Wade Belak had a massive following here as well as Tie Domi.

Sidney Crosby :shifty:
Nah, for serious though.
Joe DiPenta
Brad Marchand
James Sheppard
Are all from here, Marchand is the only one people actually know about I think.
Also, Al McInnis grew up 20 miles from where I grew up so that is pretty awesome as well.
Don Goodman, Kevin Muscat, Joleon Lescott (football/soccer)
Denise Lewis (sprinting)
Fathead Proudlock was a ledge for a while as well. Elokobi seems to be up there atm.

Paul O'Neill
Was a good player, but he is literally the most loved Yankee of the last 30 years.

I played in the pack with this guy for 5 years. He's only 20 but he's going to be world famous soon. He'll definitely be on the plane to New Zealand for Wales in the World Cup this September. With only a year's professional experience he's made prime players for teams like the Blues and Ospreys look silly. We love him here at the Newport Gwent Dragons but I doubt he'll be here for long :(

Lou Merloni and Brian Scalabrine, I am told, can both walk on water AND turn it into wine, but only within the borders of the 6 New England states.

Orlando Cabrera seems to get a huge pop every time he comes to face Boston after he had him in the second half of 2004. I would also say Eddie House except we're kindof pissed at him for joining the Heat.
Doug Flutie grew up in the town next to mine, so he's a local celeb.

Steve Walsh, 451 appearances for Leicester, not a whole lot anywhere else. This man is allowed by a local by-law to push in front of you at a bar. Probably.

Maxim Lapierre (until he got traded) *facepalm

David Eckstein was widely popular whilst in a Padres jersey, and people clamor that signing Eckstein would solve the Padres current problems because he "plays the game the right way".

Whoever the backup quarterback is at that time.
Fixed for my city.

Jonathan Herrera is gaining popularity around here incredibly quickly. I don't know if he would count as lesser known, but Birdman is everyone's favorite Nugget.

From the current Liverpool team, probably Agger and Lucas are the ones that don't get as much recognition as Liverpool fans would like.
