I think at WM 28 Taker should fight Miz or Jericho if he comes back. Any more suggestions on Taker's Next?

Reading the title I seriously thought someone bumped some old-ass Goldberg thread.

I've a strong feeling it'll be HHH again, but i'd really want it to be a returning Jericho. Even though Taker's winning, he'll need someone of Jericho / HHH's caliber to get a brilliant match out of him.

I agree, but I really don't think it will be H again, atleast I hope not. I loved the Taker - H match this year but I wanna someone fresh. Of course even though I would bet real money that this wouldn't happen, I would love to see Foley return and face taker at mania.

yeah but a guy can dream, lol. I think next year since it will be Taker's 20th match, they should have a run-in by one of his former opponents like possibly Sid. But still let Taker win 20-0.

Goldberg would only comeback to WWE for a crazy amount of money after the way WWE messed him up. One of the biggest botches ever

Goldberg blew then and was a doucher backstage. Much rather see Lesnar who was a better performer but almost equally as douchy.

thread sucks btw.

I don't think Taker's next opponent should matter that much, but I do have an idea that could make the match a bit more interesting, especially if it's his potentially last match. First off, it MUST be a casket match. PERIOD! Especially if Taker actually loses, it'll add to the overall drama in the match. Next thing you do is contact all the guys Taker has ever beaten at WM, unless they are dead obviously, and have them be lumberjacks for the match. I mean in some cases it'll look silly, but it could also build more drama for the match. Hell, they could even play it off as something like, "all the souls that Taker has collected at the WM's past have come back to haunt him in this match."

Just an idea. Could be good, but it could be bad so who knows.

I remember the original idea for the Hogan vs Vince match was to have all of these "ghosts of Wrestlemania past" come in and try to screw over Hogan. In the end, only Piper came out, but I still think that's an awesome idea and could work with Taker's 20th match. All of these people he's defeated in the past (Snuka, Jake Roberts, Edge, HBK, HHH, Nash, Sid, etc) all try to get involved and defeat the dead man. He fights them all off, finally proving that he is and will always be the immortal, unstoppable force in the WWE.

As far as the opponent? I'd like to see Kane. I know they've fought a few times at Wrestlemania before, but Kane was the original opponent planned to break the streak. The two will always be linked, and they would put on a great final match for the Dead Man.

Since it's not gonna be Cena it should be none other than "The Legend Killer" Randy Orton.

I'd say big Zeke if he was a little younger. Zeke could easily take over as the unbeatable, intimidating monster, and be totally believable. Or Mason Ryan. Both guys would be believable threats, and would get a huge rub, even if they lost.

Ew. What a fucking waste! After Edge, HBK, and Triple H, you go Big Zeke or Mason Ryan? Do you enjoy horrible matches or something?

Fuck it. Have Taker get beat by Ryder. Instant Mega-Push to the moon. The IWC would implode, Ryder would be so over it wouldn't be funny, and Tazz Dan would have a stroke after jizzing his pants. Everyone wins!

Maybe John Cena gets injured before WM 28 and have The Rock challenge The Undertaker.

Or hell, Stone Cold Steve Austin was making waves about possibly returning and having two more years left in the tank so throw him in the mix.

At this point, I have no doubt that nobody is gonna be ending the streak. Him facing someone like Jericho would do nothing for me seeing the outcome from a mile away. I'm pretty much over Taker WM matches now. It was fun, time to move on.

Taker will probably face HHH in a rematch from this years Wrestlemania. This time Triple H will put his career on the line. In terms of him facing Jericho it's a definite possibility but Jericho will probably face Randy Orton for the World Title.

Yeah if Big Zeke or Mason Ryan ended it that would be terrible. Since Wrestlemania 23, Undertaker has had the match of the night at Wrestlemania. Those would just ruin the streak of good matches he has had the last couple of years.

True, but Randy will most likely be champion going into Wrestlemania and I can see Jericho returning and winning the Rumble and challenging Orton because he punted him and tried to end his career. The storyline writes itself. There's always a possibility that this happens at Summerslam as well though.

Batista was in his prime in 2007. Yes, Taker dictated the pace of the match, but Batista more than held his own. Taker vs. Batista are some of the best series of matches to happen in the company. The only one that was subpar was the steel cage on Smackdown but then Taker was injured with the bicep tear and it still was good, but compared to the WM 23 encounter, the Last Man Standing match at Backlash, the Cyber Sunday match and the Hell In the Cell it's not as good. Also, Taker winning is a definite every year but usually his match is the best. In the last five years this has been the case.

Good god, something needs to happen so people stop recycling the same damn thread topics. Who should Taker face? Should his streak end and to who? Who is underrated? Who is overrated? How amazing was the attitude era? Name your top ten favorite wrestlers/promos/angles/whatever? Who would you like to see jump from TNA to WWE? Who should get pushed? Who should have gotten pushed, but didn't?

Then again, I guess we would have nothing to talk about of everyone had to come up with an original idea. I guess I will do what I do every Monday night and patronize, but bitch about it. After all, isn't that what the IWC is for?

Because the match with HHH was just soooo epic. But I digress. Undertaker is broken down, and isn't going to last much longer. They can do two things, they can have him fight someone who is established (your Ortons, Jerichos, etc), or they can put him in there with someone who can benefit from the rub of facing him at Mania. It's a MUCH better business move at this point to use one of his last appearances to make another younger guy big. Someone like Orton gains NOTHING by fighting Taker at Mania again. Someone like Jericho gains nothing by fighting Taker at Mania. For someone like Zeke or Ryan, it's a huge step up, and instantly builds their credibility.

It may not result in the best match, but it's smart booking.

His matches need to be against someone who you think there is a possibility he will lose to. That is one of the reasons that his 2 matches against HBK and last year's against HHH were so good. In the back of everyone's mind there was that thought, especially this year IMO, that Taker might lose.

Jericho would have been a cool person for him to face a few years ago, like WM 22, instead of Henry, but Jericho is a guy who you know Taker will beat, so there wouldn't be as much interest in the match.

The perfect opponent for Taker would be John Cena. John Cena is the guy that everyone thinks will always win and WWE's #1 guy. Even if all the reports up to the show say there is no way Taker is ever losing the streak, there will be that thought in your head that John Cena could be the one to end it.

It would have been the perfect way to end a Wrestlemania. The crowd would rival Rock v Hogan. However, they seemed to have missed the boat with that match. The only thing I could think of is Taker takes the next 2 years off and goes for 20-0 at WM 30 in MSG. Cena v Taker Main Eventing there would be amazing, even with an old broken down Taker. That would be his last match and he could go all out for it.

Triple H vs. The Undertaker was the definition of an epic professional wrestling match. It was the professional wrestling equivalent of a Hollywood summer blockbuster with a $300m budget.

Agree to disagree. To me it's more along the lines of Crank or Shoot'em Up. Full of action and cool spots, but it sacrificed the story to do that. I like some pacing in my matches.

In reality it will will be either HHH, or a returning Lesnar or Batista.

I don't really want to see any of those other than Lesnar, In terms of long term booking I think it makes sense this year to put him in with a younger 'up-and-comer' who has established a good run going into Mania, Maybe coming off a feud with HHH.

I'd pull for seeing John Morrison in that spot.

Yeah, I found myself completely not into the match. Going back and watching it again, it was fine I guess but it seemed like they knew they couldn't top the past 2 years wrestling-wise so they tried to just do something different and it didn't work for me.

Taker is in an unfortunate spot in that his WM matches almost HAVE to get bigger and better year by year. And thanks to HBK, it's topped out. I can see Lesnar maybe being the one route that could be an exception given the mainstream appeal added to the fact that he seems like a legit threat but I don't think it's gonna happen.
