Pairing Cody and Ted again is kinda risky. Cody has been on fire, so there's no reason to fix his current gig. Unfortunately, Ted is absolutely fucking garbage and needs to leech off Cody's push. This could really go either way.
Christian/Orton stuff seems kinda standard, but decent writing for a face vs. face match with 2 week build.
Chavo vs. Sin at the PPV could be fun. Hopefully they lose those stupid lighting effects though.

Well, 2 DQ's and nothing else really going on doesn't seem promising.

LOL dunno if this is serious or not, but read on another site that the dark match was between Christian and Randy Orton, but it ended in a no contest after interference from Sheamus and Mark Henry.
I'd like to think Sheamus and Henry were doing silent movie comedy villain runs by that point

Hope there's a backstage segment of Christian and Orton chasing Sheamus and Henry through a series of doors in a long hallway.

I too am hesitant of Cody being paired back up with Ted, because it seems like a demotion for Cody, but I will reserve judgment until I see the segment. Could be a promotion for DiBiase.
I still see DiBiase turning face against Cody eventually.

I think Chavo beating Bryan through botched Sin Cara interference would have been better, hypes the PPV more and would lead to a triple threat down the line as well.

Wait, when was Chavo vs. Sin Cara announced for Over the Limit?
Also, from the more detailed results I read earlier, DiBiase came out looking like more of a Rhodes supporter, putting a bag over his own head to represent the crowd.
So it definitely shouldn't be looked at as a Rhodes demotion. And to anyone who say Cody is so much better than Ted, rememeber Ted was stuck on Raw for the past year where no one but about 6 guys gets any shot to be involved in anything of note thanks to shitty writers who can't put effort into booking more than a main event scene.
Cody was on Smackdown being able to develop some character. Before that, they were even. I've always liked Ted. It seems strange for them to keep him as someone looked at as "below" Cody after their history so I'm guessing an actual face turn is coming out of this and a feud between the two.
Quite honestly I think Ted Dibiase is never going to make it simply because of his name.
Cody Rhodes on the other hand has every chance. Loving his current character and his matches have been really good recently.
#1-norm-fan
05-18-2011, 08:10 PM
Why would his name prevent him from making it?
Just there is nothing to differentiate him - he's simply the son and been a poor man's version of his dad. There will only be on Ted DiBiase and it sure as hell isn't him.
Londoner

If anything his name should be helping him, and has up to a point. Not sure why they've 'dropped the ball' with him.

He's still so young. I refuse to think guys like Ted and Bourne ect.. have been "dropped". It took Shawn Michaels years to make a name for himself. Give them time.

I like the sounds of this show.
Christian vs. Sheamus will be a pretty sweet match, I bet. The DQ ending makes perfect sense in the context of everything -- it keeps us wanting to see more and it builds to the PPV. I just hope they don't go the predictable route and have Sheamus & Mark Henry interfere at Over the Limit. Have Teddy Long get on that during the show, calling the predictable, and telling them that if they interfere, they will never get World Title shots on SmackDown!, or something like that. They can attack the winner of the match, but a dirty finish is looking too cheap right now.
Trent Barreta on SmackDown! is always a good thing. That dude is the goods. I like the re-pairing of Rhodes & DiBiase. It seems that DiBiase is going to add to Rhodes' gimmick, and sort of hang around and make fun of people while Rhodes has the darker edges. These two were presented as a dominant force when they were together -- so putting them back together could really help both. Especially DiBiase, but that's no secret. Even if faces make fun of DiBiase for being Rhodes' "lackey," which leads to him getting involved in programs with them.
The six-man tag makes perfect logical sense, and I believe the outcome is also correct at this point in time. Kane & Show are meant to be world-beaters as a tag team, and Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater aren't even scheduled to compete. So putting over the new monster babyface en route to challenging for the IC Title is a good plan. I just hope they don't rush this program, and put the IC Title on Zeke too soon. Not that he's not big enough for the title yet or anything, but I just feel that it's cutting short a great chase. Have Slater & Gabriel attack Jackson while he is waiting in the ring. They tear Jackson apart (after he puts up a bit of a fight), and Teddy Long then tells them to get to the back, but Wade Barrett is then able to pick up the scraps pretty easily with Jackson, retaining the title.
I hope Natalya gets a good match out of Brie Bella, but I don't really like the decision to put Brie over Nattie.
Chavo Guerrero vs. Daniel Bryan will be fantastic, even if it is short, and the outcome makes Bryan look good and sets up the PPV match between Guerrero and Sin Cara. Perfect.
The main event is just reflective booking of the opening segment.
Overall, it seems like a great edition of SmackDown!, but I do have to say -- I'm looking forward more to Capitol Punishment than Over the Limit.

I think the biggest thing about these spoilers is that there was no Khali/Mahal confrontation or anything. I'm willing to bet that they'll do some sort of backstage segment with the two.
As it turns out, Mahal and Khali had a pretty interesting confrontation, Mahal egging him on. No idea what Mahal said, though.
And how high did Orton get after he celebrated hitting an RKO? Looked almost out of character the way he did the splits in midair, lol.
Yeah that looked stupid as hell.

I enjoyed SmackDown! this week. Christian vs. Sheamus was really quite awesome, as were the six-man tag and Daniel Bryan vs. Chavo Guerrero. Seeing Bryan kick out of the three amigos/Frog Splash combo was...weird, though.
Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes' segment was also really weird, but I have faith in it. The two seem to have a natural chemistry, and if it betters both men's careers, why not do it? Loved DiBiase putting on the accent, too.

my first thought of smackdown is that i really want to see brie bellas pelvic/hip tattoo a little more up close and personal! i would not kick her out of bed for sharting..i also thought to myself if i took a shot everytime booker t said "in this business" i would die of alcohol poisoning. jinder mahal is huge, how big is he? i read on wiki that he was 6'4 but that can not be right, he has to be bigger. love seeing chavo again, he is a good worker i think. randy ortons kick and air punches were hilarious, guess he is trying to metaphorically tell us "thats what i am" is going to beat up the dvd competition and kick it into high gear.

I do enjoy the gyrating entrance of The Bellas. And hey, her match with Natalya didn't actually suck!
Also, the face turn for Zeke seems to be going well. They obviously have plans for him, and he's not a bad speaker. Not too sure of himself yet, but the script for his promo was pretty well-written. Someone wants this guy to succeed. The fans aren't really into it yet, but we're just into this program with The Corre.

Really hope Ted isn't with Cody too long, getting a Luke Gallows vibe from this angle of Cody "saving" him. I'm half expecting them to add in Alicia Fox and JTG to form some kind of horrible "losers" stable.
Ezekial's got the Torture Rack now. Much better than his previous finisher but he needs to work on it.
I think Randy has been hanging around Christian too much. Look at how Edge was like when he was hanging around Christian.

I think Orton would be awesome if he loosened up a little and started noticeably having fun beating cocky heels.
The difference with that and Cena would be that Orton can do it without being a crowd-panderer. Like Austin. While he may have always had the crowd in the palm of his hand, he didn't exactly make a habit of "I'm doing this for you people" and being nauseatingly attention seeking. He just didn't give a fuck and had a blast.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, the "Super-Cena" argument is usually terrible.
I can see if people have problems with him taking a beating and being super-fresh in the end like nothing happened.
But usually people always talk about it in the context of him always winning matches. And that is such a dumb argument. Especially when people like the guy but have a problem with him being booked "like SuperCena".
Parity is an awful thing in wrestling. Everyone having a .500 record is dumb as fuck. The main eventers should CONSTANTLY win matches. THE top guy should lose little enough to where it's a huge deal when he does. The lower level guys should get beaten by the top level guys until they're ready and then start getting some wins and working their way up that imaginary ladder. Throw an upset in there once in a while maybe but... the top guy SHOULD win all the time.
People's problem isn't that Cena wins all the time. Their problem is that they don't like Cena and he's the top guy. And therefore as the top guy, he wins all the time. If people like Orton, booking him like "SuperCena" should not be something anyone worries about.
