what promotions/territories do you feel are under appreciated
with the recent death of Randy Savage I have been looking at his father's outlaw promotion called International Championship Wrestling
it was an outlaw promotion since they weren't affiliated with the NWA
and Randy was considered there world's champion for nearly 4 yrs
ICW ran from 1979 til 1984 and mainly in Kentucky, Cape Giradeau Missouri, West Virginia and some Illinois towns
Angelo Poffo is Randy's father and he too wrestled in the 60's and 70's
in ICW he wore a mask and was known as The Miser
some of the names that worked here were Bob Orton Jr, Ronnie Garvin, One Man Gang as Crusher Broomfield, Buddy Landell, Pez Whatley, Lanny Poffo, Randy Savage, & Hustler Rip Rogers
The Sheik, Ernie Ladd and Ox Baker all made brief appearances here as well
here's a few youtube clips
this first clip is their tv intro circa 1981

Looking at your contribution, it definitely should have been.
as opposed to your utterly brilliant musing. I'm surprised you haven't been contacted by some variety of scholar board and offered an honorary degree.

Shut up you miserable cunt
now now sweetheart, we don't want your Mother knowing you use words like that
And the UWF, mainly because of Herb Abrams.
Before his death, while high on cocaine, Abrams was found nude, destroying furniture with a baseball bat in his New York office, while covered in a "vaseline" type substance, in the company of prostitutes. Not long afterwards, he died while in police custody, of a heart attack. He had cocaine stuck all over his body when he died
Come onnnn. What a guy.

XPW- I think their booking was shit, but they had some talent that didn't rely on light tubes. The Messiah was awesome on the mic, great in the ring, and he just had this vibe that wanted me to give him a thumbs up.

Bill Watts' Mid-South Wrestling/UWF was just a tremendous territory during the 80's
it seems to be under appreciated by the people on this board
literally some of the biggest stars in the biz worked here like Dr Death Steve Williams, Sting, Ultimate Warrior, Shawn Michaels, Jim Ross, Barry Windham, Paul Orndorff, JYD, Ted Dibiase, Magnum TA, Freebirds, Rock and Roll Express, Midnight Express, Chris Adams and the list goes on and on
Mid-South ran from September 1979 til 1985 when Watts changed the name to the Universal Wrestling Federation which it closed down in late 1987

Make a strong case for the GWF (Global Wrestling Federation). Featuring such talents as the Patriot, Eddie Gilbert (RIP), Handsome Stranger (Fluff Fagswell I mean Buff Bagwell), Scotty Flamingo (early Raven), Lightning Kid (Sean Waltman), Jerry Lynn, and the Ebony Experience (who would go on to become the Harlem Heat).

Puerto Rico's WWC (World Wrestling Council)...which is Carlito's dad's company.
A lot of wrestlers who became famous either in the WWF or WCW, made a stop in Puerto Rico before going to "the big time"...
...guys such as Randy Savage (before he signed with the WWF), Hulk Hogan (before he signed with the WWF), Andre The Giant (before he signed with the WWF), Scott Hall (before he became Razor Ramon), Sean Morley (before he became Val Venis), Bret Hart (before he signed with the WWF), just to name a few.

WWC used to be really great in the 80's
Bruiser Brody's murder really hurt the promotion because alot of guys refused to go back and work there
Jose Gonzalez who murdered Brody basically got away with murder
England's All-Star Promotions

You're getting All Star and Joint Promotions mixed up. All Star had some of those guys on over a large space of time (Brookside still works for them, Regal was on during his WCW run etc) The run you're thinking of from the late 70's through the 80's with those guys was Joint/World of Sport. All Star are still going and are appreciated/recognized an appropriate amount for the level they're on.

Used to love GWF. Good call.
At one time, Grand Prix Wrestling was televised and had major success until World Wrestling Entertainment bought Grand Prix Wrestling from Emile Dupree. Notable wrestlers who have wrestled in Grand Prix Wrestling include Edge, Christian, Killer Kowalski, André the Giant, Harley Race, and Ric Flair.

Yeah, that was the Continental Wrestling Association, which would evolve into United States Wrestling Association, after merging with World Class Championship Wrestling in 1989.
