found this article on yahoo:

Over one-quarter of the performers who took part in 1991's Wrestlemania VII have died, a wrestling website noted in the wake of the death of "Macho Man" Randy Savage.
The Wrestling Observer newsletter discovered that 14 of the 51 performers at the event have died in the past 20 years, with many of the deaths attributed to drug use

The list of wrestlers who have died since 1991 include some of the biggest stars in the sport like Savage, Andre the Giant, Miss Elizabeth and The British Bulldog. Causes of death include suicides, murder and heart attacks, some the result of years of anabolic steroid use. Savage died last week after suffering an apparent heart attack behind the wheel of his truck. His ex-wife, Miss Elizabeth, passed away after overdosing on a variety of drugs in 2003.
Looking at the list is a sobering reminder of the realities of a make-believe sport like professional wrestling. Not all of the men and women listed played a part in their own demise; referee Joey Marella was the victim of a car crash that occurred when he was driving home from a match.

As wrestlinginc.com points out, none of the 44 starters from the Super Bowl played in 1991 have passed away and only two of 44 boxers who held a championship belt that year are gone.
At 58, Savage made it nearly a decade longer than some of his deceased colleagues.

the names they listed as deceased: macho man, andre the giant, miss elizabeth, british bulldog, dino bravo, texas tornado, joey marella, hawk, hercules, earthquake, crush, queen sherri, mr perfect and big bossman.

Damn that's crazy.

Forgot Queen Sherri who was with Macho at the start of the match at least. Shes dead too.

I see shes on the list along with Mr Perfect from the original source but you missed them.

They also didn't count Gorilla Monsoon or Lord Alfred Hayes

Wrestlemania 6 isn't much better..most of the same guys and you also had Rick Rude, Bad News Brown and Saphire...

Summerslam 91 had 9 out of 33 not counting Marella/Gorilla Monsoon/Alfred Hayes

This can be said about most mid-late 80's through early 90's shows.

Why include Andre/Dino Bravo/Joey Marella/Quake/Texas Tornado? They didn't die of anything that can be attributed to them being in the WWF.

Andre died because he was a giant not because he wrestled, Tornado broke his foot and then walked on it afterwards and was ruined before making it to the WWF, Dino got shot trying to smuggle cigarettes, Quake died of cancer and Marella died in a car crash. It seems that they were bumping the numbers, but also forgot Sherrie which was drug related.

Survey Says: Wrong WrestleMania. Ray Combs was at WrestleMania VIII.

The article also forgot Damien. Does Yahoo not give a shit about snakes?

Wait...when did Ray Combs ever have anything to do with WWF/E, besides possibly WWF specials on Family Feud? Also, I know he's dead because he committed suicide due to the fact that he felt like he was a disappointment as host, especially compared to Richard Dawson...but anyhow...

Are you saying that Louie Anderson was better than Combs?

Schlomey
05-24-2011, 02:35 PM
forgot about him..and HELL NO.

the list goes like this for me:

1. Richard Dawson - straight up sleezy but great at the job and the ladies loved him.
2. Ray Combs - He was a natural at the job but lacked the sex appeal of Dawson.
3. Richard Karn - He didn't suck and was jolly but lacked in some charisma and def. sex appeal.
4. Louie Anderson - He looked drugged at all times and has a Godfrey voice that shouldn't be hosting anything. But Life With Louie was a favorite of mine so I actually tuned in to see him.
5. Steve Harvey - Sex appeal and charm but not the kind of charm i like in a host. He brings no energy.
6. Ricardo Montelbon - Hasn't done anything ever...except tan too much.

What does 'sex appeal' have to do with hosting Family Feud? Also, I don't think I ever saw that Ricardo Montelbon fellow. Maybe all of his tanning was for sex appeal, though.

Richard Dawson was the catalyst for FF hosts. He was popular because of his sex appeal to the ladies. NOT EVERY SHOW but yes Family Feud hosts have been compared based on sex appeal. Personally I don't find men sexually attractive.

I like how this post had broken down from wrestler death numbers to favorite Family Feud hosts. Like some kind of weird Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon. Another dozen posts and we'll be fighting over our favorite brand of deodorant.

Clearly they have been compared by sex appeal...by you...for no reason. You like dudes, I'm pretty sure. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Wait...when did Ray Combs ever have anything to do with WWF/E, besides possibly WWF specials on Family Feud

He had several WWF appearances and actually commentated the "Family Feud" match between Bret, Owen, Keith and Bruce Hart vs Shawn Micheals and his 3 masked Knights.

Also, I know he's dead because he committed suicide due to the fact that he felt like he was a disappointment as host, especially compared to Richard Dawson...but anyhow...

Because he was a disappointment as a host? No. He suffered an injury to his spine that left him in considerable pain, and went on to have several failed business ventures that left him in financial trouble. He also had family issues that were leading to a divorce.

I remember the commentary at, I believe, Wrestlemania 7.

Jesse The Body was making fun of Hulk Hogan. He said words such as "Here we go Gorilla! Pukeamania is running wild".

*The crowd cheers* AND LISTEN TO THE PUKESTERS!

Oh my god it was funny

Um, what?

Kerry Von Erich wrestled in the WWF missing a foot. He broke his foot and then decided to walk on it before it healed.

So, they had to amputate it.

Not saying there weren't other factors that contributed to it, but like it or not he did commit suicide, one day after being admitted to a hospital where he used bed sheets to hang himself from the closet in his room. Really a senseless way to go, tbh.
