View Full Version : Michael Cole needed/needs a legit face turn...

Watching Raw and the interaction between the two just feels odd and distracting. I thought about this a few times during the feud but as heated as the feud was "Cole loses then apologizes" just doesn't wrap it up right. Hearing Cole laugh at Lawler's jokes while they act friendly for the most part just doesn't seem genuine.

It's an odd situation. Most feuds can just kinda end and we move on. But other feuds don't require the two to interact weekly afterward like this.

I'm thinking Lawler needed to not accept the apology and for Cole to keep trying to get it. Then one of the lesser used heels picks a fight with Lawler over something leading to a one-off match. During the match, the heel goes to use a chair on Lawler and Cole makes the save.

I mean, they aren't gonna continue with Cole's heel character it would appear. At least that would have put a nice, neat little end to the tension as opposed to "I'm sorry" and Cole laughing at Lawler's jokes like they suddenly like each other.

Good point.

I've changed my mind. Michael Cole needs to turn from heel to uber-heel.

Yeah, something like that could have been good. But honestly, if they just continue to act like it never happened, then in a few weeks it will be totally normal for Cole and King to get along.

It probably will. I'm just a fan of definitive endings to feuds. For some reason, it just feels right now like Cole is messing with Lawler and plotting something. It just seemed like saying "Sorry" after such a heated feud and just forgetting about the dead mother references and evil-ness of Cole is a cop-out.

He could have saved Lawler, shook hands, then gone back to being his "innocent, harmless heel announcer" self even. Proclaiming how beautiful Vickie Guerrero is and such.

I haven't watched RAW, but on SmackDown! Cole still seemed like a heel. It just seems that they're trying to move him out of the spotlight. He seems to be picking on Josh Mathews a lot, too. I don't want to see annoying face Cole again, but I think his "I'm not a bad guy anymore" shtick could be used to get him even more heel heat down the line.

Personally, I'd still move Cole out of commentary. Have him attach himself to a young, struggling guy, and offer his services to help them out. Of all the babyfaces on the RAW roster, Chris Masters and Evan Bourne are the ones who come to light. Masters would make sense, because Cole has spoken very highly of Masters, even as a heel. Bourne is feuding with Jack Swagger, which could allow Cole to play off Masters.

Have Cole offer his "years of broadcast journalism knowledge of the business" to Bourne, and his inside knowledge of Swagger's training to help Bourne out. Bourne is all "I dunno, man," but Cole more and more forcefully helps out Bourne. This can lead to Bourne selling out and joining Cole; Bourne just having enough and snapping on Cole, which leads to Cole finding another heel to feud against Bourne ("Someone who actually WANTS to be a star!") or Cole turning on Bourne and re-aligning with Swagger while they do victory laps.

He probably wont stop being a heel until the RAW finally has a GM since him reading the messages and being "close" with the GM generates a lot of his weekly heat. As well as, him no longer rooting for a couple of heels he likes such as The Miz, Del Rio, and a few others.

That's kinda what I said in my last post. I think he could have done the thing where he saves Lawler and still be a heel commentator... just in a more innocent, heel cheerleader manner. All while keeping an unspoken respect with Lawler so it doesn't get awkward.

In the end, does it really matter what the fuck you want?

No.

No.

Exactly. Who gives a fuck what people want! That's why there's no such thing as a message board.

I stopped downloading all WWE TV and PPVs purely so I didn't have to listen to Cole and his annoying "I'm a 5 year old with ADD and I'm gonna shout over everyone" schtick.

That'll show WWE, not watching their programs illegally due to their shitty commentary.

Was his dead mother, but you have the right idea. I also agree that a face Cole will NEVER work until the anonymous GM thing goes away.

Honestly Cole has gotten to a point where I just really can't stand him anymore. When he first started the heel thing I was really into it but he's just gotten so damn annoying that at this point I just want him gone from my tv. He's basically using the same material week in week out and his voice now just grinds at my soul like nails on a chalkboard.

Okay.... "face turn" was a bad choice of words. I said that in the past two posts but people are jumping from post one to reply obviously. lol

He needed a face-turn like moment. Like the thing I explained with Lawler. After that, he would go back to being his "commentator-style heel" self as opposed to full-on heel. Kinda like he was on commentary last night.

I think it's fine the way it is, did you happen to miss the part where Cole kiss King's foot? He's humiliated and embarrassed, he kinda put "his foot in his mouth" in a way. I don't see how you don't clearly understand what happened and how it is okay for them to move on and work together. Cole was shut down, Lawler won, Cole admitted defeat and then back off. That's real, so big fucking deal, you don't like it, eat a dick.
