Just watched this video on the best of nitro DVD, and had to ask - why was this seen as so controversial and a big deal made of it?

I dunno if this was part of the controversy, but I remember hearing an interview with the Outsiders where they said that cooler Nash had was actually stolen from Arn Andersons car.

Because Arn made a very emotional retirement speech the week before and they didnt like Nash running him down like that the week after. the NWO were the cool heels people got behind and he buried Arns retirement.

A bit of bitches I think.

Did it also have anything to do with Nash impersonating Arn as a drunk essentially as well?

The Horsemen were pissed off that everything they said was true and they said it on TV...... implying ANderson was a drunk, etc.

Notice they make fun of Arn as a drunk, and Hall is nowhere to be seen

Don't make fun of Arn's carpentry skill.

They were also pissed off that they didn't get to respond to the parody that week. Like they wanted to run down, but were prevented.

Anderson was really pissed off after this and apparently tried to fight Nash but Nash claimed it wasn't malicious. It ended up being blamed on Terry Taylor who came up with the idea.

While Arn was upset about the fact that the skit brought up his problems with alcohol, there was more to it because the Horsemen were supposed to come out and get a bit of revenge in Arn's name. Nash allegedly got the run-in thrown out which led to Flair refusing to do another segment later in the show. All-in-all, it was just more animosity over the pro-nWo booking made even worse when they ended up winning at WarGames in Horsemen territory.

It was Nash politics. NWO gets their shots in, bury the horseman, and no retribution was allowed, and Nash went over in the end.

Ahhh, the brilliance of WCW booking.

I remember being like 10 and watching NWO win at PPV after PPV and thinking "aren't the bad guys supposed to lose, atleast at some point?"

See, and I had heard it was Terry Taylor who got the run in nixed and fucked it all up.

God I remember watching this as a ten-year old mark, and being so irate with the NWO.

NWO>4 horsemen. Horsemen take themselves too seriously so screw them. Plus Steve McMichael and that cunt murderer Crispin Wah were horseface dipshits. So yeah. fuck the horsemen. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!
