As usual, all kinds of heat on Cena on this board. Though a lot of you have smartened up and decided to not be sheep and make your own opinion lately.
What are your feelings on Cena?

people need to just enjoy the show and stop nitpicking everything...who says when Cena goes we wont get something worse? like a Great Khali reign of dominance?

I put 'worst in the ring' but realised I was exaggerating. As the guy above said there are worse, it's just generally they're not featured nearly as prominently or excessively as Cena is.

I was a huge fan of Dr. of Thuganomics (heel). Once he turned face, he lost the appeal
I respect John Cena the person for being a model employee with strong work ethic, and doing what the boss tells him to do and not having an attitude. He could take more charge of his character though like Austin does. He should exercise his leverage a bit more, so his character could be more badass

I gotta say, I respect the hell out of Cena for being that guy. I can't think of anyone who would be a better face for the company. Work ethic, image, and hasn't he granted more Wishes than anyone else for the Make A Wish program? Considering (like it or not) the WWE has seemingly more or less returned to its kid friendly 80's style roots (or at least as much as it can anymore) he has that classic good guy image. Also, no matter what the interview question, he always has an office friendly answer that gets his point across and ruffles zero feathers.
In ring? Yeah, that's whatever. Superman, no selling, stiff and clunky, whatever. Don't care. I've seen a hell of a lot worse in the ring.
Top marks to the man for being That Guy.

Im sick of this shite. What has Zach Ryder achieved? He's funny on his videos, he's gotten over with smarks but he's done jack shit in wrestling. My favourite moment from Zach was his Wrestlemania appearance where he sang a song made popular by a spoilt cunt. It was funny alright but im not gonna shove my nose in his asshole just yet.
As for the poll, i cant vote cos i agree with too many of the options.
John Cena is awesome on the mic, one of the best ever and that is since his debut.
John Cena is not the best wrestler in the WWE but what he does, he does well.
John Cena plays an irritating character for anyone over the age of pubes.

And as a person, did anybody see 'before they were superstars'? He fucking reeks of charisma, he's an extremely good guy and even though half the crowd is shitting on him everywhere he goes he seems to take it in his stride. As opposed to everyone's little darling The Rock. Look back at WM18 when he's about to put hogan in the sharpshooter and he tells the fans to go fuck themselves

I like Cena.
I don't like the way he's booked, but at the end of the day he's a great company guy, does fantastic work outside of WWE (charities etc) and he can put on good matches with the right people.
He's the Hulk Hogan of our time. People will always compare Cena to Austin and Hogan etc, and say 'oh, nobody knows who Cena is' etc... but within the wrestling community, in 10/20 years time, Cena will be one of the all-time greats, whether you like him or not.
And unlike Hogan, at least Cena can actually MOVE!!!
feel like I've made that exact post at least 18 times on TPWW.net/forums

The way the IWC and the people that boo him, react to Cena, if he were to go heel, people will claim it was as big as Hogan going heel.

I have been a supporter of John Cena since June 27, 2002 when he walked out and accepted Kurt Angle's challenge. The man has made himself into one of the biggest superstars in the history of wrestling due to his hard work. He has been my favorite since 2005 and I feel that he has had some of the best title reigns in the history of the company. His 2005 and 2006-2007 run are two of my favorite reigns. He has had alot of great matches for the title on PPV and has developed great rivalries with many. He is one of the top five best on the mic in the company and one of the top ten in the company's history. He is a major asset to the company and one of the best ambassadors for the sport in his later years when he has to eventually step away from the ring. He is truly passionate about the WWE and pro-wrestling in general. You can see it in his eyes. I have supported and will always support John Cena the man and the wrestler. In my opinion, there is nobody better at the moment. One thing I do wish is his feud with CM Punk to continue til Summerslam, but I don't think that will happen.

Cena is a great guy and I don't think anyone that knows him has a bad word to say about the man.
He can be a good wrestler when given the chance to be. It's just the WWE Character of "John Cena" that I'm not entirely fond of. It doesn't really bother me now, but still, the whole character does get annoying at times and predictable. Though the character hasn't really been that annoying recently.
Though for what Vince is wanting, Cena is the perfect man for the job. I can't imagine someone else being in Cena's position.

I really dislike Cena. He is one of the people who ruin matches for me. He is one of the people who I will walk away from the TV when they come on. I'll do anything, smoke a cig, weed, eat, pee or whatever so long as I am not exposed to him.
He jacks off America. I dislike that kind of behavior. /insert everything else too like 5 moves of doom, lameality.

Strange as it is to say, I think it's weird that the face of WWE has a look that most would consider "Indy" or, worse, "backyard." Wrestling in jeans and sneakers seems to get a lot of heat on these boards, but you rarely hear Cena criticized for it.
Overall I don't dislike Cena. I'm just tired of the same match and the same promo every week. It was the same issue I had with Austin (well, Austin also had the wife-beating thing working against him...), but I don't have the intense hate for Cena that I did for Austin. More of an annoyance, I guess.
I am, however, interested in seeing where (and how far) he goes with this Punk feud.
I'm sure I'll echo many in this thread, but I respect Cena. I respect everything he does, and have said this for years. He wrestles a full-time scheduel, including house shows and TV every week. All the while he (sometimes) films a movie AND does all his Make a Wish appearances. As well as his PR work. I've said it before and will say it again, he is the absolutely best face of the company they've ever had, when it comes to coming across professional and doing as much as he does for the media.
When it comes down to what I don't like, it all comes down to his gimmick and, honestly, his wrestling. His gimmick is just tired to me, as well as way too immature and not serious at all. Also, no one ever really gets the upper hand on Cena for more than a week or two. That vastly hurts him, and is one thing that has hurt him in the eyes of casual fans and "smart" fans alike.
As for his wrestling, his matches are just too repetitive to me. Yes, you can say that "every wrestler does xyz spot". I'm not talking about the fabled "five moves of doom". It's fun to use it as a joke, but obviously Cena has more than five moves. He's no where near as limited as some claim. But it's more about his lack of selling and especially that his matches are completely formulaic.
How many times have you seen this match with Cena? Cena gets beat down for 1/2 the match, starts to make a comeback, but it's thwarted. He's then beat down again until the finish, when he fires up and does his Five Moves of Doom, all the while completely ignoring any offense that was put on him.
I'm just so tired of his matches being so formulaic. And in terms of his selling, I don't know if Cena's lack of awareness or that he's actually told to go out and work it like that.
I do think Cena could be a lot better than he's allowed to be. It's just that his current gimmick and booking calls for the Superman bullshit.
He also needs to be more serious in promos and other situations. I've seen many times where it's called for and he's just saying stupid shit or completely no-selling the other guy. Which is fine and dandy for once in a while, but it happens too often. I'm not saying get rid of his silly shit, I'm just saying tone it way down and let him be more serious. This, along with changing his Superman bullshit, would go a long way in improving his buyability.
Honestly, I think we'll see another side of Cena once the Rock feud is going full force. WWE knows what they have with that, and they know they can't get away with Cena's usual booking. We'll see a more mature, serious Cena in this program than we've possibly ever seen with Cena. If not, it will take A LOT away from the match, for me at least. If I see the goofy, bordering on TV-Y Cena in the ring cutting promos with Rock it's going to be hard to buy Cena at all in the match.

My thoughts exactly.
Surely someone, an agent, a respected veteran, hell, Vince himself should pull him aside and "set him straight". The fact that that hasn't happened (or at least appears not to have) is down to management.
I believe that EVERY issue people take with Cena is fixable but Vince doesn't wanna change anything. If ain't broke, don't fix it. And as far as the kids are concerned, it ain't broke.
You can say things about Hogan that do apply to Cena, but Hogan was always getting his ass kicked. There was always some semblance of doubt as to whether he would pull through. And he fucking sold. With Cena, it's not like that at all. And that's (one reason) why Cena isn't Hogan.

1000% true..... Hogan would at least look like he was getting his ass kicked (all sweaty and shit)..... Cena doesn't even look like he's trying, which is probably 75% booking and 25% his own fault.....

He is so misused he needs to go back to doing rap battles but he doesn't necesserily need to be TV-14 or turn heel to do it was proven when he was responding to The Rock's comments more if this would be so much better.

Did you just say Hogan sold and Cena didn't spend 75% of his matches appearing drugged?
Cena goes down like he's just been shot between the eyes when someone hits him with a water bottle. I still think you're right about not properly selling though because after he's done acting like he's in a coma he just explodes and pretends nothing happened. Hogan had the hulking up shit but I think it's a little different. Only thing he didn't really sell during that was punches anyway.

I think this is the result of Cena being led through the match for the most part. I bet 90% the guys in the locker room don't need his moves called either. He probably just says, "Alright, doin' it."
On the original subject, I said "Please turn heel." Cena is not the worst. It isn't really his fault. That being said, he irritates the fuck out of me.
