View Full Version : What's the deal with Mason Ryan?

I remember him being hyped up by THE PEOPLE on this forum, but yeah...
What would you do with him if Nexus disbanded?
No one was "hyping him up". Most (or all) were just pointing out he looks kinda like Batista. There's nothing more about him. He's green as Bill Cosby's lime jello shits.

I think he debuted early simply because of Vince's love of big guys.

Release him.
Pfft, yeah ok. Or just send him back to FCW for a while until he's actually ready for a call to the main roster.
I kinda feel sorry for the guy. He's obviously out of his depth and hasn't got a clue what he's meant to do.

I'd at least give him a chance and send him back on the next season of nXt and he didn't pan out then i'd release him.
CM Punk DONT GO
07-02-2011, 10:32 PM
Mason Ryan is saying CM PUNK DONT GO. Becauses he will have nothing to do if the Nexus is not around? He is ok and he is like Batista but not as good as Batitsta.

He'll go back down to FCW, come back up in a year or two as someone's bodyguard, have a storyline for about 6 months, then future endeavoured.....

Mason Ryan is the reason why WWE needs to bring back managers (even stables run by managers). He's a monster, but shouldn't be near a title based on his own merits.
Ryan is a poor man's Batista as Lashley was a poor man's Lesnar.

The only reasons Mason Ryan was brought up were b/c he looked like Batista and he's a big guy. Hard to believe WWE would call him up to the main roster since he cannot properly link a sequence of moves together. Some of the contestants on TE were better in the ring than Mason is. Since CM Punk is leaving soon, I'd be surprized if he lasted long. The only current wrestler worse than Ryan is Zeke Jackson. It's no wonder he got injured as green as he is...

What's the second thing got to do with it? Used properly, the British make great heels in the States due to their accent and the way Americans perceive Limeys - case in point, Wade Barrett.

Mason is a monster but does WWE really know what to do with anyone other than Randy Orton or John Cenna?
This thread has some great points and things to offer... like Monster to Mason, Managers need to come back big time, Chavo Classic (lmao yeah right!), Wade Barrett, LIMEYS, David Batista and Taker it easy guys.
Hey Sock, you aren't supposed to make serious posts remember?

Mason Ryan's problem is that he is green. He was probably called up too early, but in the context of Nexus he made sense. He can be on the road, work with some top guys, but not be in the spotlight so there's no problem of crashing and burning. That being said, if CM Punk does leave the WWE, I think Ryan's best bet is to recover from his injury and remain in FCW for a long while. If he can't get better with trainers like Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, then professional wrestling might just not be for him.
However, if CM Punk stays around as a mega-heel (and I think that's more likely than a lot of people are thinking), then when Ryan is healthy, I see no problem with him remaining Punk's muscle.

Mason is basically WWEs Rob Terry. It has nothing to do wth them being Brittish, there just massiv guys who don't seem to have anything really to offer as a singles wrestler (kind how Rob went from the Brittish Invasion, to a borring singles wrestler, then to Immortal)

Problem is that Mason does not show any in real life personality. About the only thing we have seen from him is loyal watch dog type qualities which are obviously a work. None of real life Mason Ryan has come through.
Add that with the fact that he is wrestling for 2011 WWE means he is likely to get dropped or lost in the shuffle over the long run.
If he was in mid to late 90's WWE or even 70-80's WWE we might see more of him.
I like the guy yet it is unfortunate that he must work in the climate which he currently works in as it does not yet cater to himself as a wrestler (entertainer if you can believe WWE's propaganda).
They just want you to Taker it easy.

Limit his stuff to squash matches on TV and let him work longer matches at house shows if they want to keep him on the main roster. Otherwise FCW or TNA.

So, he's injured right now...they mentioned it this RAW
Looks like Nexus is done, since Zack hinted at an alliance with Henning Jr. and Otunga and of course Punk is onto bigger things

I don't think Zack was hinting at an alliance with them. I think Zack was hinting that he has a tag team partner and he'll be coming after the Tag Team Championships soon.
That's what I got from it anyway.

That looks to be his 'cheeky fart' face. His angry face looks like his tongue is trying to lick all his teeth at the same time while his eyeballs are trying to jump up inside his brain. He did it after his first ever match on Raw as a Nexus member

Basically he has the look but he's well green in the ring, after Nexus breaks away, he should return with a manager coz the guy can't speak.

Yes, building him up slowly as a monster heel, wrestling squash matches and boom idk what's next?
Mr. Nerfect
07-06-2011, 04:51 AM
That squash idea is simple, but it'd work. The only thing is that they should wait until Ryan can work before they do this. More time in FCW, and then when they feel he's ready, have him return on Superstars and squash someone lower on the pecking order. He beats someone the next week, and then the third week he faces the first guy again and the second guy comes out and attacks him, causing the DQ, but Ryan fights them both off. The next week he beats them both in a Handicap Match. Then he moves up to a slightly more regal threat, but defeats them, too. Keep a track of his win-loss record, and boom.
It's been long enough that people won't remember that they did this with Goldberg.
Hell, combine with with the Brock Lesnar treatment, and give Ryan a manager. Byron Saxton would be great, because he can bump for Ryan when Ryan learns that Saxton is exploiting him.

Naturally I love Mason, but I do feel sorry for him obviously being thrown into the deep end too soon. I'm hoping it will just naturally click for him after a little while. Batista was pretty bad his first couple of years. Gutted they dropped his Welsh speaking gimmick. Hopefully he brings that back once he's off on his own :D

Push him as a Welsh farmer.....jokes. Showing video vignettes of him shearing sheep, milking a cow and riding a tractor.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. It did take Batista a few years to shake the big man label and prove he was a decent in ring worker. I'm interested to see if Mason Ryan can do that. So far he hasn't showed any flashes of brilliance, but who knows? Maybe taking some time in FCW to improve in the ring and with a good manager, he could be a future star.

Mix this with the Goldberg idea and i think we have a winner. So, have him milk a cow for 30 odd seconds, we see Ryan dressed in his farmer gear and looking affectionate towards the animal ( heh ;) ) until almost every drop is out, then just as we think the vignette is ending BOOM! Mason hits the cow with a picture perfect german suplex
