The welterweight bout between Paul Daley and Tyron Woodley at this month's Strikeforce "Fedor vs. Henderson" event will not be for the vacant Strikeforce Welterweight Championship, but the winner could find themselves in the first title fight in the division without Nick Diaz's involvement.

"I would say the winner of that fight we're definitely keeping our eye on," Strikeforce CEO Coker said in comments made to MMAJunkie.com. "I think by the end of the year, you'll see a title fight happening."

Diaz vacated the title when he signed on to fight UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre this October at UFC 137. While the Woodley-Daley winner could determine one side of the next title fight, Coker hinted at a possible big signing that could be immediately thrust into a title fight for the vacant belt.

"We're about to sign another fighter that until it's done I don't want to say who it is," Coker said. "It's possible (the new fighter could immediately fight for a title). Maybe we'll give him one fight, and we'll see what happens. But I definitely think the experience will speak for itself."

Didnt know Diaz vacated the belt....does that mean hes full time UFC now?

Also sounds like they might be signing Marquardt...

how does that work, is Marquardt allowed to fight for Strikeforce?

Daley still fights for Strikeforce right?

yeah Daley fights for SF still, lost to Diaz in April

Marquardt has gotta prove to the Athletic Commission that he needed testosterone therapy before they let him fight again though.
