What's the deal? I read somewhere that he changed his gimmick to Joker?

What? Someone explain this to me?

It seems more like if Jim Carey was playing the joker.

Seen a lot of outrage when I was trying to find a vid by how shot it is, but it gave me a laugh. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing though.

Totally.

Also, retarded facepaint.

Well you see TNA ran out of things to copy from WCW or the WWE so now they are just going to start blatantly copying well known films to try and make the product not look like total horse shit.

The worst part is they're not even ripping off something current

Aside from the "obvious Heath Ledger" mannerisms now, I still rather enjoy the change of pace in that he's unpredictable/lost his mind over his obsession with Bischoff & Hogan. I liked the "half-assed" paint of the above vid, almost like he didn't quite care (and served as a segue to his current paint scheme). Also, the best thing happen'd later that show, when he was punching Abyss in the head with the barb-wire glove while staring & grinning at Ken Kennedy who was standing on the ramp to close the show.

His spiral to full on Joker kind of reminds me of the Keeper's Diary in the first Resident Evil game. He's now at "Itchy Itchy Scott came. Ugly face so ate him" stage.

The Crow wasn't exactly current when Sting started that whole thing.

Not quite. He looks more like Joker now than in the above promo. But, thanks for playing!

I think it's a mix between The Joker & Jim Carrey in The Mask......

All this has proven to me is that Sting is a shitty actor. Watching him try and be "crazy" is probably causing Brian Pillman to barrel roll in his grave. It's hokey, it's lame, and I can't believe any of you are enjoying it.

Well, yes I can, but you know.

His mannerisms remind me of the Jack Nicholson Joker. I really hate this angle with him right now as it is pretty ridiculous even for TNA. The worst was last week when Hogan "hit" Sting with the bat. Probably all the force that old man Hogan could get up I guess

I've kind of seen this character before....where was it? Oh yeah, Batman......and a guy on the indies named Krimson.

I'm not, I was just stating with 2 seconds of googling(sounded dirtier than I had intended) you could have seen that he's an accomplished indy worker in the midwest and has been on roh and oddly tna before with his previous character CK3.

Anybody Thrilla

Right. Nobody knows who he is. I didn't even say that he sucks or anything. Why are you so offended? Are you friends with him or something?

"WAAAAAH! TNA is sorta stealing my gimmick that I stole from a movie from 2008!"

I'm assuming that's his beef without looking into it (because I have no interest in that person whatsoever). Is that it?

...You know, this "new" Sting isn't the WORST thing EVER...but to do it this late in his career, and at TNA, of all places, it just comes off as...goofy.

mhirn3
07-10-2011, 12:39 PM
Well his point was that he sent in the tape and all of a sudden BAM(not the odb boob slapping idiotic bam either), they had given a guy the name of the character he created, then gave one of their main guys an almost word for word promo and attitude of his character.....I didn't say I was offended, I just think he's a very solid worker with a good gimmick and it's sad TNA was virtually doing nothing with Sting before this and all of sudden this is allover tv......like Sting's gimmick was magically reinvented overnight with something they came up with?

Right, which is kind of what I was going for as the Krimson character is more serious, but Sting's interpretation comes off almost as campy or awkward.

Lol, did anyone else notive when Sting said "Your like a cocroach that crawled between the bottom of the door and the floor and ended up here" As far as Sting goes, he should have retired after he "walked out" but at least he's doing something alittle diffrent with his character

Sting covering Hogan with facepaint and Hogan sitting forward into the shot afterwards with a bewildered look on his face and his bandana half off is the unintentionally funniest thing I've seen in wrestling for a while

This Krimzon fellow needs to dial it back. He didn't create the Joker character either, and honestly, Krimzon itself is a really lame name for a wrestler. He should be shocked that anybody besides himself thought it was a good idea.

Either way, you didn't have to call me stupid for it.

I apologize for that.

He openly admits he didn't come up with the Joker....and that after basing his EARLY character work on it, that he changed it so as not to be a straight ripoff......to what it is now.

Things he does like the Joker:

wear face paint.

I get the whole Jim Carrey claim, but the Joker? Are you kidding? Is this like when Undertaker changed headgear and everyone fawned over his new persona?

Granted, it is pretty much how Jim Carrey would portray the Joker, but it's also how he'd portray Martin Luther King and Mother Theresa, so....

I liked the Joker-esque persona. It's different and experimental, just like when Sting experimented with the Crow-esque persona 15 years ago, and it worked. I say give it some time and you'll see.

Even though the Joker type gimmick he is using winds up looking more like a bad Jim Carrey impression, it's still more entertaining than any of his Crow stuff. His reactions to everything is laughable. Instead of crazy, he looks ridiculuos, which is more funny than crazy.

Gotta admit, it'd put asses in the seats.

The Crow persona worked because he didn't have to say anything.

Yeah, 80% of the character was the mystique, which benefitted greatly from him not saying a word.

Even Heidenreich was a more convincing psycho.

To be fair, it's hard not to be a convincing Psycho when you wantto have sex with Michael Cole.

Sting being batshit insane and Eric Young being Zach Galifianakis are the two best things in TNA right now. And that's sad.

Destination X wasn't that bad. Even the Abyss match was surprisingly worth watching, albeit anticlimactic (the announcers kind of went overboard with the "whole X Division on his shoulders" thing). If they keep that ball rolling... what the hell am I saying? Of course they're going to put the X Division back on the back burner again.

You're right. 2 best things in TNA. :nono:
