Testament's First Strike Still Deadly in particular. When I first heard Testament, it was when I really didn't like 80's metal and didn't like death metal vocals and crap. So the first Testament songs I heard were their older songs that sound kinda hair metal'ly at times, and then Demonic Refusal, which sounds a bit on the death side. So I was like "wtf this band sucks " Then I learned the error in my ways and got a hard-on for death vocals. With that in mind, Testament remastering their older songs with the heavyness at full force is verrrrrrrry hottttttttt.
Also, Hypocrisy's 10 Years Of Chaos and Confusion. Taking shitty production and rerecording =
There are probably some other remasters I am overlooking that are great... any you folks like? I read Marilyn Manson is rereleasing his Spooky Kids material, not sure if he is remastering that or not. I'd imagine so.

Testament didn't remaster them, they re-recorded them. :p
That's one of the things I like about recent (well, ish) greatest hits albums by Godflesh and Napalm Death, they took a lot of the older material and remastered it, so it sounds great. Especially good in the case of tracks off of Godflesh's Streetcleaner album, since the volume levels and mixing on the original release were horrible.
I still think Anthrax need to remaster Among The Living as well. :-\

the van halen remasters are pretty hot, they had some fu</>cked up panning before apparently.

Reign of Terror rules. I like the original recordings better for most songs, though. Alone In The Dark sounds best on the Legacy demo. Raw and energetic. Alone In The Dark on First Strike sucks. Over The Wall on The Legacy is much better than on First Strike as well. :-\

Remastering is the goods... except when all the band does is turn up the volume.
But if they turn it to 11, it's much better.

In some cases, that's all that needs to be done. In others, it's absurd.
Remastering needs to be done on more records. I'd love to hear some early 'Hoods stuff remastered, instead of the rerecordings (While I do prefer a couple of the re-records they did, I still like the originals).

Speaking of Testament, my friend played New Order for me today. Good stuff.

And the best retake of all time has to be Queen--Keep Yourself Alive.
The later version has so much more energy.
