You think some of Cena's cheers might be piped in? I'm just wondering if they might want to try to get Cena back to being viewed as a true babyface.

The kids/women cheering for Cena have higher voices too. There's more of a roar when Punk raises his, and a roar for booing Cena, but it's easier for the music to drown them out. BAsically, the higher pitched cheers clash with the musics more.

^ I noticed in most Cena entrances, the only cheers I hear are those little jimmies and jennies in Cena shirts while the grown ups are booing loudly on that.

Nice ending and it sort of sounded like the sound system was about to break with that loud screeching sound from the constant music switching.
:wtf: Cena trying to say he feels like Larry Bird in the arena during his intro except for the fact Bird never played in the Pacers arena.
CM Punk might be able to do in 2 months what Orton struggled for years in having a feud with Cena that the crowd really likes and get people outside of wrestling interested as well.

I was about to say, the higher pitched screams of women and children sound louder than men cheering.

Yeah. It definitely felt like they were trying to have him rebel Punk style on Johnny Ace. Didn't really come off well in my opinion. Especially after the exchange Punk and Hunter had to start the show.

Just watched this on a bit of a delay. I actually really enjoyed it. Felt like the second hour kind of dragged with the tag match and Bourne/Del Rio, but otherwise it was a damn fine RAW. I'd say it keeps RAW's momentum going in terms of consecutive good shows.
Marked out quite a bit at the opening promo, with what Punk was saying. But I couldn't shake the feeling that they were trying to make him into a "super face" at first. The crowd definitely wasn't solidly behind Punk. It was probably 60/40 at best in Cena's favor. And in the long run, if that doesn't change, it could be bad for Punk, and WWE could call him another failed experiment if they so chose. Also, the way Hunter/Punk came across all I could think was that it was happening how I would have expected that rumored script of Del Rio cashing in after a Hunter burial. Thank God that didn't happen.
I do think RAW has a different feel than it did just a month ago. Beth going over, good, long matches on the show, the multiple interview segments backstage for the final segment, King going into his old school persona for a second with one of his screeches. It just feels better overall, even if some segments were off. Which is to be expected, not every segment or show can be great, let alone amazing.
I do feel that they're starting to book more towards the type of fans who left, because they obviously know that there's more excitement over the product now in the main stream and otherwise than there has been since probably the Attitude Era.
I liked the closing segment. Not as much as the opening, but it was still solid. Cena has a pretty spot-on Laurinaitis impression and made me laugh. Honestly didn't mind Cena in this segment. Thought the dueling music was a nice touch, too. Just wish they had a mix ready to go for when they both put the titles up.
Overall, I'd say it was a very solid show and I enjoyed it. It accomplished a lot to set up SummerSlam, even if the Punk/Cena/Hunter stuff was obvious. It needed to be done to set it up. My only real gripe is that things feel a little rushed for the undercard, but obviously they needed to scramble for something for Del Rio. My guess would be that Kofi was supposed to get Ziggler, but with Del Rio out of the title picture they were forced to find something for him to get him on the show.
I won't even say it's poor long-term planning on WWE's part. They really had their hands tied with the Punk thing, so I don't really have that big of a problem with it. Just wish there was a week or two extra before SummerSlam.

Dunno. The fan reaction was weird for Punk. At some point they were more boos than cheers, and sometimes there was just massive cheers. HHH even got booed when he said something negative towards Punk. But the fans kept going back and forth.
Same thing with Cena. Got booed heavily when they first mentioned him, and then got cheered, then booed...
IT WAS SO BIZARRE.

i see the pros if cm punk walks from SS as champ.... someone argu the pros about cena leaving SS as champ as it relates to this storyline over the last month.. somebody play devil's advocate to show me why cena winning is a good thing
Depends on how Cena wins. If Cena wins clean, then it does absolutely nothing good. If, say, Hunter screws Punk, it opens up A LOT for the storyline.
Honestly, Cena winning could do more for Punk in the long run than Punk winning. It all depends on the booking, both short term and long term.

I love Jericho, but if he thinks he's the first person to call himself "the Best in the World" he's gone off the deep end. Especially since I'm fairly certain there was an ROH feud around that same concept.
Seriously though, Jericho comes off bitter as hell there, wonder what the story is?
What? Has Jericho complained about Punk using the term?
Mr. Pierre
08-02-2011, 12:29 AM
Claiming to be the "Best in the World" really isn't THAT original to claim that someone is ripping you off. And didn't Jericho claim that Miz ripped him off because he was a heel who wore a suit? Weeeeh

let's turn Cena heel this way, he could accidently Wiener a picture/make it public on Twitter intended for Linda McMahon or something, Cena and Linda make a powergrab from Triple H, the McMahon-Cena Era kicks takes over RAW. Somewhere down the road it'll turn out he's been sending pictures to the Bellas, Mae Young, Elektra, Harvina etc and he'll get his "due". I just booked 6 months of TV in 7 seconds.

The whole cheer thing is funny, I had it on in the background while making breakfast through my phone speaker and Cena seemed louder. I watched it again before I left for work and Punk's sounded louder with the heavier bass on my headphones.
But anyway, fun show. Cena felt really off his game when talking to Josh, may have been the comedy glasses he was wearing, but he was better when he came out. Johnny Ace as the voice of Vince could be pretty interesting too. Can't wait for SummerSlam.

What gets left off of SummerSlam? The two title matches are confirmed as well as the Divas match. Potential matches include DB-Barrett, Zeke-Cody, Sheamus-Henry, Truth-Morrison, Rey-Miz, and ADR-Kofi.
Honestly, they could potentially have them all. If I had to guess, Zeke/Cody gets left off. Daniel Bryan NEEDS to be on PPV from here on out to build him. Sheamus/Henry is too big to be left off. Truth/Morrison has been obvious for SummerSlam since Morrison went out. ADR/Kofi needs to happen to get Del Rio on the show. Rey/Miz could go either way, really, but I'd imagine they'd want two of their bigger talents on the show.
I am really curious about John Cena's penis in a very non sexual way.
XCaliber

Somehow I don't think having Rey/Miz would be Summerslam worthy this close to the PPV and I can't help but think they're wanting Jericho to come back and feud with him.

Why did Mr. H's call Punk a skinny fat ass? What the hell.
Also this week, Triple-H's massive ego didn't allow him to acknowledge the fact that John Morrison was not "resigned" since he was already under contract.

Skinny fat is a thin person with high body fat percent, thin person with no definition, every 16 year old girl who just does cardio and no weight training, etc.

Yeah, I know what a "skinny fat guy" is. It's possible that it's an inside joke between Punk and HHH since Punk is a skinny fat guy, but somehow I don't think he meant it in that context lol I think he was supposed to say "skinny punk ass" or something like that. But who knows.
